DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: A compromise for the undead
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:01:48 am »
A timer would be great.  I was going to reply to other thread, but it disappeared as I was trying to reply.  Anyway, there's a huge difference between a big challenge for experienced players and the player being totally screwed from the first second of the embark practically.

Thread Necro!

Tonight during the Great Necromancer Invasion, I had this one:

Urist McFarmer cancels Pen/Pasture Large Creature: Handling Dangerous Animal (or words to that effect)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Necromancer Siege! (I wasn't ready for it...)
« on: February 15, 2012, 08:33:58 pm »
Oh, man.  Thankfully I had some military squads equipped and training.  I just started working on some traps.  Then the Necromancer came, with 39 of his undead buddies.

Long story short:  10 dorfs dead, 20 undead killed, the necromancer ran off the map.  The elves who were there to trade escaped unscathed (damn it).  One dorf has gone mad; everyone else is holding up.

Concurrently with the battle, My stonecrafter got a mood and turned out a cruddy mudstone amulet.  He got Legendary Engraver out of it, so maybe he'll make some cool battle report engravings.

Also, my Daignostician (whom I ordered into battle when I decided to Zerg Rush the enemy) got the most kills: four.  Including a titled zombie.  He scares me.

Anyone else have a Necromancer siege yet?

That is weird!  Maybe the monarch died, and the consort is now an immigrant?

There's a zombie novel called Resurrection--the author is Tim Curran--and this sort of stuff makes me think of it.  One of the most gruesome zombie novels I'd ever red, and a lot of !Fun!.  My favorite had to be the zombie preserved fetuses and body parts that got loose from a carnival freak show.

And You Sang 'Storage!' was a 283 page novel, written in the mid-autumn of 176 by the dwarf necromancer Tekkud Apexsteel. It concerns her storing Kol Futuretrades And The Nails (a 158 page novel concerning her apprentice) in Boargild in the early winter of 168.

There's also one called Give Me After Can The Market The Easy Way Save The World?

???

I didn't know Dwarf s used Engrish :D

I'm beginning to wonder if we will have to built libraries for our "esteemed" nobles to peruse their wonderful books.  This would set up a whole new industry in itself.. [P]rint Books.

(This could also enable nobles to have a higher chance of being/becoming necromancers)

Well, if the random book generator created one called Twilight, it's going into the magma :D

I have the following titles:

My friend the Desert Tortoise Brute
The Uses of Lies
Waking up With Humans
The Pregnancies of (insert dwarfette name here)

Most of them seem to be self-indulgent and occasionally vicious.  What are your best books?
