Forum Games and Roleplaying / (SG) Ambitions of a Drow Matron
« on: March 10, 2019, 06:13:57 pm »
The Upper Underdark is in chaos. Drowish Queen Meldwen VIII is dead. Her sisters are dead. Most of her children are dead. Her realm has splintered into a cacophony of heretical sects, alien powers, and petty drowish matrons all vying for control. You are one such minor noble; Confident that you can reunite the realm under your rule, or at least carve out and hold a piece of it for yourself, you have formed a retainer to handle rival military action, a harem to engage in espionage on your behalf, and claimed an estate from which to rule. May your personal demon guide you to survival and success!

Bring Back the Lord and make him our undead Slave.

I still say we need to heal and mate with Lurrothel.

...And still find out what in the Heavens happened with that fire!

+1 to these for the sake of concenseous.

I wish option A didn't sound so much like another -1 for Reckless Charge. But I don't want to let them wander away, not toward the extra 10K running amok in Eval.

I'm sure we will get options on how to proceed once we find them.

They aint running back for reinforcements, so I'd rather they push into us. Guns seem to mean advantage = defender.

I am pretty sure that eldrican is marching right now

I wouldn't be so sure. We'd likely have gotten Intel regarding them mobilizing if they had concrete plans to join the war.

Inspect our new minions. See if anybody is notable or talented. Perhaps we can find somebody suitable to rule the keep in our name or make half demon offspring with.

Prepare defenses as best we can.

Send out small scouting parties to try to find either the enemy army, or more targets to hit.

624
Our riders are rested and can harass then while our troop move, while in eval let's use the chance to make a peasant's mobilization for freedom and revenge B

We have to be real careful about riling up the peasants of Eval. They might want to counter-invade Rucus/Lamentia, which would drag in Eldrican, and leave us fighting a two front war with a depleted army.

Right now I think we need to drive the crusaders out, and hope to find some sort of short term peace deal/armistice. I see no means by which we can go on the offensive without fighting half our neighbors.

Sounds like we swarmed over pretty much all their cavalry, without really committing ours. Perfect.

Indeed. Our riders probably get sacrificed here and now though, taking the brunt of the crusader counterattack until our foot-soldiers catch up. Small price to pay if we can end their main army though.

626
A - This is an orderly retreat, so they will likely be able to turn and strike army forces we send after them. Better to handle this carefully.

I agree with that to a point, but I think we should risk it here. If we let them get away, they rejoin with their forces in Eval, Rucus, and Lamentia and become a substantial threat once again. Best we take some losses if we have to, defeat their main force here, and mop up the rest.

It looks like the Damdamians are down to just their +2 Martial Bonus. Bring it home boys!

A siege plays in to there hands and risks us getting a returning Przemyslaw in the back.

I agree with this to an extent. But I do not think it is critical that settlement is captured at this exact moment. As long as we are not too preoccupied to fight the Chieftain when he returns, waiting can favor us.

-Set up camp in a defensible position near town.
-Send a Housecarl and a handful of our Polish troops to parlay with the garrison. Their leader doesn't care about them. He abandoned them to their own devices, and now the sons of Odin are here for them. Luckily for them, today we are under the employ of the Polish King, and as such we are willing to spare Polish Lives. If they lay down their arms and give us the fort, no harm will befall the town. Warn them that if they refuse, their lives are forfeit.
-If they accept. Occupy the fort and prepare for the Chieftain's return.
-If they refuse, harass the town, but do not commit to a siege or engagement, while we await the Chieftain's return. Loot and burn nearby fields. Patrol nearby roads to capture anybody traveling to or from town. Send out some scouts to try and find the Chieftain's Army, as well as other valuable targets to strike.

Their calvary is already committed, so we shouldn't have to worry about further flanking from them. A is too risky, and Haspen said our own cavalry is in a bad position, so C is sub-optimal.

C. He is old and we have an artifact. The odds can't be much worse than the odds of fighting the war, and a victory this way would be much less costly. High risk, high reward.

Edit: you know what. I like our odds fighting too. The only thing they have to equal us is a martial leader and perhaps equal lifeblood. Martial Disclipline, artifact, and manpower are all in our favor. It is the age of fireblood, so let's give our firblood the advantage.

Im changing my vote to D.
