They don't actually have the value by default. Or if they ever did, I sleepmod.

Um...

The more interesting question is how good a computer you would need to do that, and where can I get one?

Heck. A full scientific calculator in DF, with a proper display, would be a good trick. I *think* that might just about be possible if you start with, say, the tallest mountain map knocking about (200 z-levels, was it?) leveling the mountain, and then filling it from the lowest z-level to the highest with dwarfish ingenuity.
I once saw a video of little big world where somebody had built in several calculator functions and the machine was huge.
...then I saw the mechanical computing devices people have actually built o_0

There's this, too.

Ehehehehe. My dwarfs are in for a horrible time.

EDIT: Just genned. There's none on the map! Nuuuuu! :'( How do I get some to arrive? Or otherwise tweak 'em to show up? I've changed their biome to NOT_FREEZING.

For bonus points, build some kind of mechanical clock to trigger them seasonally, but semi-randomly.

Yea.

also I'm pretty sure that you are trying to recreate Boatmurdered :P

Blast, didn't notice this the first time round. Oh well, have a virtual cookie. Yep, trying to see if I can have flooding rivers in 3d, too.

... Maybe not building destroyer or ambush. That'd be just scary.

DF Modding / How do I restore elephants to their throne?

I'd like to reinstate the elephants as king of beasts. How may I achieve this, other than removing the benign tag? Anything that actually makes them hostile to dwarfs?

And another thing, once I do that, how do I make them appear everywhere? I mean, in every biome, such that every map I embark on will have an elephant herd or two wandering in? (Don't ask. I have a very specific idea in mind. Cookie for anyone who figures it out. [Hint: Look at my other topics])

DF Gameplay Questions / Reclaim question
« on: August 01, 2009, 05:43:37 am »
Map request first:
This one's a doozy, since there's no real way of finding it easily. I don't really expect anyone to specifically find it, I guess, but if anyone happens to see it... Anyway. I'm looking for a location with magma, an underground river, flux and sand. HFS and brook optional extras. But I need a specific kind of terrain: The left half of the map, relatively flat while a mountain fills up the right side, more or less bisecting the map into half plains/forest and half mountain. And I think a freeze/thaw cycle.

Question:
If I have a fort, and I seal up some areas (Totally sealed as in walled in with no access), then abandon and reclaim, will the sealed areas be hidden? Similarly, can I rediscover cave rivers and magma? And what about HFS?

This.  (Altho', there are some objects that do "toggle".)

Some? Besides gears, what else is there?

Hmm... I'd really rather not the freeze/thaw cycles, though I suppose that's a solution.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Year-long timer
« on: July 31, 2009, 09:05:21 am »
I'm thinking of trying to build a timer that will cycle once a year with as little drift as possible, or at least some way of adjusting the drift. The mist generator/repeaters seem to be a good sart, but they barely last any time at all. Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, and as a side note: has anyone found a map with a low elevation, forested area on the left side and high elevation on the right side, with a magma pipe and underground river?
