The inherit problem is that most people who draw casually do it for fun.
Once you have to grind to attain a decent level of proficiency, that rather takes the fun out of it.
...Then what do you guys have that keeps you drawing?

What I have is the fun and wanting to attain the level of awesomeness that you others have, but that's it really. If you're awesome enough to be called thus and the fun's been removed, what's left?
1. stay up late enough that sleep deprivation starts kicking in
2. put on some awesome music
3. draw
Because once you have a bit of sleep deprivation and music, nothing seems boring.  :D

He's easily the most Conservative user I've seen in GD.
*Ahem*
Nope, more Conservative than you.
Yep, recent post history comparisons are not even close. He's got you beat by a Fox News and a half on the conserva-meter.

And as anyone who has read The Zombie Survival Guide knows, setting zombies on fire is the last thing you want to do. It turns them into flaming torches which run at you, since it takes so long for it to do enough damage to destroy them permanently. This will go doubly for a giant ark made of wooden popsickle sticks.

Heh, ya, you can make their rooms big, but they really don't care much if they are smaller. There is a slight increase in happiness for really nice rooms, but a 3x3 fully engraved is pretty much all you need; at most a statue for a 3x3 engraved and even most nobles will be satisfied with it. Or at least as satisfied as they can be as they are melting in magma due to certain special levels installed in their rooms...
The economy doesn't kick in til later; so you won't need to worry with that til you get up a bit more, assuming you make it that long (and for a 3rd fort, its likely you won't).

Also, a tip about images on the forums, you can use img /img tags (in brackets) with the url of the image in between the brackets and embed the images right on the forums. Put spoiler /spoiler tags around the img /img tags so they don't take up tons of room on the page, and you will be all set.

Sweet I started a new topic name thing.
Time Travel Discussion.
Well, it was more of a team effort. If there's one thing I've learned it's that Bay 12ers love time travel.
Almost as much as brains in jars. Although let's not get into those, as they have a tendancy of being thread killers...

My thought process went something like the following:
1. deteremined not to land in a stack and to land in the least populated answer
2. not 7; most likely the most picked
3. not 3; 2nd most likely to be picked
4. next number in head, 5; did not choose because being in the middle of the set, it was likely to have been done
5. next number in head, 4; did not choose since I figured it seemed like a number few would choose, and thus would be chosen by those of similar mind
6. next up, 6; almost chose based on a thought process of popular christian numerology, but again guessed others seeking to avoid popular numbers would select it
7. next, 1; chose it because it hadn't even crossed my mind up until that point (all other numbers had at least been quickly looked over), it was on the outside edge of the set and a small number
Fun with game theory! hehe
PS: I'm still winning!  :D

I knew that 7 would be most popular, but surprised that 3 isn't second.
You skewed the results by telling people it was an experiment.
Yep; my guess is it goes like thus: 7 and 3 are the big ones to choose, as everyone knows. 7 being the more powerful of the two in people's minds, so those who just go with first impulse pick 7. Those who want to avoid being in the 7's clump next think of 3, as it is known as commonly picked, avoid that clump, and then go off on their merry ways to think through which ones haven't been chosen as often.

One must also remember that any results Kepler gets are themselves a gross underestimate. Since it works based on the planets passing through a plane parallel to our viewing angle, they have to have an orbital plane within a very small angle to be detected. Even if we were to discover every planet possible using this method, that would still likely be less than 10% of the total.

6084
Mathematical rules do not equal reality. Sure, we find these planets, but that doesn't require there to be more of them. Until there is data proving our monitored portion of universe isn't a fluke, or that the rest of the universe hasn't had bad shit happen to it, we cannot declare as fact that there are a bare minimum of planets.
Its a sample size of 150,000 stars... Its pretty hard to make that a fluke any way you slice it. But ya, extrapolating beyond this galaxy was just me being silly with numbers, since each galaxy has a pretty big difference in composition.

GOD IS ANGRY WITH US FOR DRILLING!
The solution is to appease god by stopping all drilling everywhere. If we don't do that, the oil will continue to come out until the world is covered in a thin film of dead dinosaur, showing by example what he is capable of!

No, no, no.  The CORRECT answer is to drill more, everywhere.  If we anger god further enough, He'll cover the world in a thick film of LIVING DEAD DINOSAUR.  And that is just too awesome to miss out on.  And hey, there's got to be at least three nutjob survivalists who have oil-arks prepared for this sort of thing.
Sorry, but a popsickle stick structure won't help you in that case. As anyone who reads XKCD knows, raptors know no fear, and will never stop chasing you. Now, turn those into zombie raptors, and you just added to them an unability to feel pain. Yeah, you're pretty much screwed.

Ya, Ohio would be known for corn if Iowa didn't exist. But as it stands, Iowa = corn.

1! ha, I win, I'm the only one who picked 1 so far. Mostly because I figured this poll was a poll to try to get the most commonly stated number, and so reverse engineered human logic to find one which wasnt picked. Muahahaha.

first, the falcon 9 launch. Then this. Am I wrong or do we have a space fan here?

I find this interesting, I will probably read the articles tomorrow. I hope we find some earth like planets soon... may help revive interest in the public.
Heh, let's just say I enjoyed reading The World of Physics in middle school and leave it at that. If anything I'm less of a space fan than I used to be. :)

Well, it seems I shall repurpose this long dead thread, as once more results have been released about Kepler's discoveries. The total number of new possible planets is now over 1200, with 54 of those estimated to be in their star's habitable zone. Small planets are much more common than large ones, another good sign that our solar system's composition is pretty much standard, and improving chances for life.

Any stereotypes on Switzerland?
Neutrality. Cold, hard neutrality. Oh, and knives, clocks and chocolate.
Militant opposition to any infringement on their culture? And specifically swiss army knives, and something about your culture on how they have a corkscrew on 'em. And a few others my brother will inform me of when he comes home on a vacation from there while bringing his Swiss wife along.
Let's see if I can find the John Stewart segment where they interviewed the a Swiss ambassador or something... it pretty much sums it up. Here we are: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-december-3-2009/oliver-s-travels---switzerland although you will have to skip past most of the actual news part of it

Stereotypically, Ohio is a boring, forgettable state whose only claims to fame are rollercoasters, astronauts, and the tragically bereaved Giant Butter Jesus; and whose chief export is crystal meth.

As an Ohioan, I can confidently say that it's 100% true.
Seconded.
