{Fey Mood Roll: 347/1000}

You can't think of anything you want to create.

{Overall: 3/4}

You make your way out of the prison. You are in a bustling fortress. You see quite a few shops, but you have nothing to trade with. A nearby sign points out the directions to the main gate, living quarters, and workshops.

It's unfortunate that the embed tag is a bit iffy with attached objects.

I can't seem to make it so that I can rip off a person's head.

{Bluff Roll: 16/20}
{Luck Roll: 4/6}

You tell the guard dwarf that you were the original guard for that post. You attempt to convince him to take a break and to give his armor to you.

The guard doesn't believe that a prisoner is the guard (+5 to bluff resist). He also doesn't wish to give away his masterwork spear (+5 to bluff resist).
{Guard Bluff Check: 13(+10)/20}

The guard refuses to give anything to you, "I've been on prison duty for as long as you've been in there, idiot. I've been in here far too long. Maybe if you got me some food and booze..."

{Searching: 13/20}

It seems that the guards don't mind you defiling the dead body of another dwarf. You begin searching the body.

{Luck: 2/6}

It would appear that the other dwarves have already gotten to this body. It's practically naked. You've managed to find an empty worn backpack, a badly warped iron helm, and a dead dwarf.

{Overall: 2/4}

You look around the room for anything that could resemble a spear.

{Spotting: 19/20}

You notice that one of the guards is carrying an exceptional steel spear. He's also looks very strong and imposing.

There's also a broken wooden cage. You might be able to break off one of the bars to use it as a spear.

The dead dwarf seems to have been some sort of recruit. Perhaps he might have something of interest on him.

EDIT: Retroactive nerf!

You exit your cage. You are now in the middle of the prison room.

(Too simple, I just counted that as a free action)

Roll To Dodge / Cenath Atekkokeb, Adventuredwarf [Community RTD]
« on: September 07, 2009, 03:23:04 pm »
In an attempt to (hopefully) improve my writing, narrative skills, and dice-fu, I'm going to host this RTD adventure.

The adventure takes place in a DF universe, so no magic or guns. The skills are being trimmed down a bit to avoid large combat formulas. Try to avoid running headfirst into suicide.

I'm going to be using a wide variety of dice. Starting with simple d4's for determining the general idea of the event. Then, I use die with more sides for more complex events. I'll probably hold off on some of the less prominent rolls (say, initiative and damage, since you can figure those out easily).

I'll grab the first (sane) post and use that as his action. Each action can consist of multiple parts, so don't be afraid to do "Throw rock at the elf, then charge at him" instead of "Pick up rock".

Anyway, let's give this a go. First poster gets to choose Cenath's last name and a basic skills (Swordsdwarf, Digger, etc.)

You've finally been released from jail! The sheriff has unlocked your cage and left you with a meal.

You are in a prison. There is an unlocked door that leads outside. Two guards are standing guard in the room. Outside, you can hear the sounds of a bustling fortress. Next to you is the leftovers from your free prison meal. Farther away is the dead body of a dwarf. It seems that the hammerer just finished his shift.

DF Modding / Re: Giving the Elves Culture-Appropriate Weapons

I can't seem to get my mind out of the gutter after seeing that.

Um, A. What are you using to determine who gets hit, when someone fails?
and B. You didn't understand what I meant by twitch, I meant I had quick reflexes, not that I jump out of my skin at everything.....

Logically, it would be the person nearest to the chest at the time of your action.
If we took the order just now

Stonemt (9)
Frelock (6)
Kilakan (5)
Blah28722 (3)

It would probably be Frelock. It'd fit quite well too, since he tried to search the chest got a 2.

In this case, it seemed to be a random choice.

You'd actually roll initiative at the beginning of every round (technically, you'd do it once per battle, but we aren't fighting here).

I really don't want to be last in line >_>

Elves probably get composite wood weapons, seeing as trees don't drop razor-sharp pieces or ready-made weapons all that often.

This would probably limit them to whips (rope), blunt items (say, a bat.), pointy weapons (spear?), and bows.

Also, I'd say you should have us roll initiative at the beginning.

If you're not familiar with rolling for initiative, you basically roll a d20 (any dice would work, but with so many players you'd want a large # of possibilities) to determine in what order the actions are done. The order goes from highest roll to lowest.  That way the last guy posting won't always have his action invalidated by an earlier player.
