Also, permitting workers in the Workshop Profile lets them work there, but I'm not sure how to actually assign them the labour of, say, sacrificing remains to the Temple Of Nature.

Afoninv : Thanks for that, but that one is a bit out-of-date. It's lacking information on some of the newer buildings, and the methods of getting dwarves to actually use the buildings delineated in that manual don't seem to work.  :(

Where is the readme file for Genesis? I couldn't find it in the graphic or ascii version of the mod.  :D

Er, I didn't give it a new version, that's what the version on googlecodes is.

I apologize for uploading a hacked version though, thought I was being helpful, haha. I'll take it down immediately.

Also, it looks as though the dwarfs I can't assign labors to consistently have social skills but no practical skills.

Are wooden blocks bugged for anyone else? I can't use them for anything and dwarves won't carry them to bar/block stockpiles.

Unrotting vermin remains sucks.

I think my greatest frustration so far is that there's no Dwarf Therapist update. It's not necessary to play, but it makes you spoiled...

There's an emergency release for 2010 in the Dwarf Therapist Thread on page 46 I believe.

I'm also wondering how you're supposed to butcher animals now. I've got scores of fresh corpses and no way to grind their meaty goodness into a form suitable for dwarven consumption.

Is the whole "can't use blocks to make doors/beds/everythingelse" bit on purpose or is this a horrible bug?

Same here, this is by far the most spectacular modification/tool/supplement out there for DF. I look forward to being able to not only create my own profession groups again with the new DT, but to then create specific burrows for each worker type.

I attempted today, for the first time, to rob a caravan. I walled up my trade depot, trapping three caravans inside, and then filled it with water and waited for them to drown. I waited seven seasons and everyone in the 7/7 water was doing swimmingly. I popped a wall out and imagine my surprise when all 40 merchant guards/animals went mad or berserk. I don't think it will ever be safe to go outside again.

[Edit: Also, for some reason the guards that went berserk are generating crystal explosions.]

Edit: The giant horses have slaughtered the last of my champions. This loss is as inexplicable as it is terrible.

Forgetting to place cage traps. It's even worse because I had the mechanisms and cages in spades! I didn't realize until a couple of Dragons appeared and began decimating my fortress. I lost almost all my dwarves to them and then I got hit by a few score of half-giants. All in the second year, curse my beginners luck!~
