DF Gameplay Questions / Re: The DF2010 Little Questions Thread
« on: March 24, 2011, 07:59:31 pm »
I currently have version 0.31.21 of DF, if I was to upgrade to version 0.31.22, would anything break? I love my game as is, but the new version seems to tackle a lot of glitches, so I'd prefer having that, as long as nothing break.

DF Gameplay Questions / Specific Material
« on: August 19, 2010, 05:44:49 pm »
Now, I'm pretty strict on having my levers be the same. Would it be possible to make an all-the-same color thing for levers? (thus out of the same material). I can't seem to find any settings for it, and spamming making them isn't producing what I want.

This is for Liberal Crime Squad

So rightttt, before I begin to follow a tutorial on youtube I found for the game, I'd like to be able to expand the screen to match my resolution. How do I do this?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: August 15, 2010, 02:19:53 am »
Just working on my defenses. Having to mine down all sort of ramps at the moment. After that I'll need to set up more traps. Introduce a well inside my fortress as well in the near future.

Yeaaah, so I was knocked in a lake. Any way I can get out? There's no ramps, and alt - arrow key doesn't seem to work. I can't fast travel either.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Stockpile Transfering
« on: August 07, 2010, 07:12:10 pm »
Thanks everybody :) Once my vault is finished, and if there's some crises, all I have to do is retreat them inside. Though, I need to figure out the entrance. I was thinking about having simple doors, but certain creatures can bash through those. Anyone have a good idea for an entrance?

I'm thinking about either

A) Collapsing the entrance
or
B) Flooding the entrance with water.

DF Gameplay Questions / Stockpile Transfering

Alright say I have my main food stockpile. Now also say I want to make a little vault thing where I can run to if things gets bad in my main fort. Now if I create a second food stockpile, is there a way I can get my dwarves to fill it 100% to the max? Also, will I have to worry about my food spoiling? if so, how do I prevent it.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Finding a Quest Monster

Yep, you're right. She left the underworld and became their leader. Fun stuff, lol.

Also, the original thing that inspired me was this video

What's this graphic pack? It's annoying to tell who's who without a graphic pack, lol.

EDIT: I think it's the one on here

Chariot's Full Graphics Set (v0.97)

But whenever I attempt to install it, it just doesn't seem to work. Help? Instructions?

Okay, what. I went into some random house, and infront of my eyes was sitting the "ape monster law giver". I can talk to him and everything... Okay, well I guess I found him, but is that normal? I thought quest monsters dwell in caves..

Didn't know if this would go in questions since it's not about Dwarf Fortress...

Anyways! I'm having troubles finding a quest monster. Three towns have given me the same quest to kill it. And well, apparently this Snake thing is *inside* another town. Well I'm currently there but I can't find it. I've looked everywhere. I'm still a bit new to Adventurer (Huge fan of fortress mode though), but could anyone give me some tips to find it?

Other Games / Re: Cybernations

Yeah, there's alliances out there that are pretty scum-bag like which'll probably  never learn their place. But there's also good alliances out there.

Other Games / Cybernations
« on: July 22, 2010, 06:25:15 pm »

There was a previous topic for Cybernations, but hey, let's breathe some new air into it!

Introduction: Just as the name suggests, it’s a game where you maintain a nation. Simple as that, just like the idea, the game is equally simple. Mechanics are straight forward and it’s very user friendly. But here comes the fun. So much branches off what would first appear to be a simplistic game. You need to arrange trade deals with foreign nations. In order to grow, you need to find unique ways to secure cash, and lots of it. So while anyone is able to be part of Cybernations, it takes some critical thinking to become a master. So Cybernations is open to all levels of thinkers.

Links:

Below is the link for the game.
http://www.cybernations.net/

Below is the link that if you follow allows my nation to get some money. (Only if you’re feeling nice Razz)
http://www.cybernations.net/default.asp?Referrer=Richard%20Eden

Starting: You’ll be given the options to customize your nation. You get to name your leader and nation. You even get to select where your nation is. Will it be in Europe, America or in the middle of some ocean? You decide. Now as your nation is created, your two national resources will be randomly generated from a list of twenty one (21) total resources. They’ll be sticking with you for the rest of the game!

But don’t worry. You can trade for other resources to boost your economy. Get special sets of resources and can get some bonus resources. There’s a total of eleven. To grow, you purchase land, infrastructure, and technology. With time you can expand your armies, fleet and navy. Perhaps one day you can colonize Mars.

But being a new nation you’re probably getting absolutely bombarded by recruitment messages. You may choose to accept their offer and join their alliance, or you can make your own choices.

Below is the link to Shinra, the alliance I’m in. We have a neat theme and there’s plenty of chances to snatch power.

DF Suggestions / Re: This is DWARF fortress, not TURTLE fortress.
« on: July 19, 2010, 06:37:20 pm »
Quote
-Destroying natural resources(Overfishing during sieges, deforestation during sieges, setting the forest ablaze as they leave, etc.)

Out of your suggestions (all in which are good), I liked the last most. Longer a siege lasts, the more resources that'll be drained away from your fortress. So even if you manage to at long last kill the invaders, you'll find your land temporarily stripped of life.
