General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

I pronounce it like "father" unless I'm referencing Bananas in Pajamas. Then I pronounce it the other way to rhyme. This is the only true way.

but... 'father' *does* rhyme with 'bananas' D:

Quote from: person on Facebook
The thing with money is, it gives you this false sense of security. You start feeling safer the more you have.. - rather than finding your security in God. The more you have the less you're inclined to 'believe' that you're needy...

Some girl from highschool posted this, and I fairly quickly did the mental arithmetic to realise that you could switch God and money around and have an equally valid statement, and yet I don't want to point it out because I'm sure any attempt at challenging the delivery of an affirmation of faith will be taken as a challenge to faith itself, and me explaining myself would only end up making in worse.

Not really a significant issue, but it's niggling away at me regardless. Humph.

Hooray for using generic, offensive-to-anybody-not-just-specific-minorities insults!

I'm not convinced that attacking some aspect of a person is going to change anyone's mind, because we've spent basically the entirety of time since language was invented trading 'fat shit' for 'needledick' without anybody suddenly becoming not-a-jerkface. If we instead stick to our generic OTANJSM insults, we can eventually phase out the others, through a sort of herd-immunity-crossed-with-Newspeak thing, because hooray 1984, I guess.

but then, I'm not a sociologist, and maybe I just take a disproportionate amount of delight in describing people as meatbags and/or performance art.

I realised fairly late in the campaign how powerful a tool hanging from the ceiling directly above a patrolling guard can be; I used it to get past that floor of the final level with 3 dudes on it (not really spoilers) and wirejack that terminal. If it hadn't occurred to you, try it out, it expediates a whole bunch of new methods of doing things.

Also, unrelated news: Using the Gatecrashers to kick doors down doesn't count as noise, somehow.

You know... I wonder

Do people who play this consider it a Puzzle game?

Stealth puzzle is the genre I see most commonly attributed to it, and it fits just fine. Your playstyle can affect the balance, but there is a certain minimum level of puzzle always involved.

In a pinch, you can also use the Swamp Giant's muck bomb ability, though it tends to take longer due to the 20 second cooldown. Don't use an earthquake, it'll kill most towns outright.

That's enough of this tangent.

ok then next input from me:

MUSTARD IS NASTY IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN SANDWICHES AND EGGS

You are morally bankrupt.

Roast lamb is pretty sweet; like a regular roast, except you dig about stick about 6 inch-deep holes in a leg of it with a paring knife, then jam half a clove of garlic and a sprig of rosemary into each one.

I also use lamb mince (ground lamb if you're silly American) in place of beef mince pretty much anywhere, but that's just because it's often cheaper here in Oz.

Greek-style is marinating in olive oil and lemon juice, then grilling or barbecuing; this works best with the more expensive, boneless cuts.

Lots of people seem to like shepherd's pie; I'm not personally a huge fan, but it's just lamb stew with mashed potatoes on top.

I use the hell out of the Forest Giant. Fertility boost is stupidly good.

I say y'all all the time, and I'm Australian. I figure, if the American South comes up with a legitimately useful usage of a word that avoids the ambiguity inherent in using 'you' for plural and singular, may as well give it to them.

I also say 'mate, but only really with strangers i.e. when I'm at work. Also only to men, generally.

I mean, don't get me wrong, that jerky sounds delicious, but come on. You're taking KOBE BEEF and turning it into jerky you dumbass. That's gotta be what, 20 dollars a pound?

Excuse me, quick google search yields prices of $60 USD for a puond of Kobe beef. Jesus Christ!

He's using offcuts and such, which are apparently vastly, vastly cheaper.

32,900, native. Apparantly in the top 10% for my age, so hooray.

Middle school is elementary school?

Murrica separates secondary school (what we call in Australia [and presumably the Netherlands, except in Dutch] high school) into Middle School (years 7-9, I think) and High School (10-12). Except they don't call them by numbers, but freshmen, seniors, juniors and other things that make no sense, because Murrica.

Today was the last day of semester for uni, so hooray for that.
