Man, I'd get back to playing this if I didn't have to building stuff and click on "Work" TILE BY TILE.

Seriously, I love to build, and I just can't stand to build a whole solar system like this..after my 4th colony I'm already willing to give up on the game altogether.

If they made this different or made a NanoBuilders Control Building in which you could build, stand in, and them build remotely on other tiles, I'd love it and all..

But I do hope creodor and Tymas win, so I'll keep track here and will always wish our guys the best on this war gyahaha!

I thought people would be posting things like Tibia or Homefront. Don't worry guys, you're all normal! (except you who posted World of Warcraft and all of you who posted about The Sims (just kidding about that, I have Sims 3 and Medieval installed)) heheheh.

I can't think on anything right now rather than Puzzle Pirates.
..even if I managed to stop that craving to get back at playing this, I feel guilty to have left & getting back on at least 5 times since I started playing it in 2004 (I'm 20 now, so I was 13 back then lol yea).
I loved how people would do their best when we were under huge battles (blockades and stuff) or when I managed to battle-repair single-handedly a small ship so we could have a shot at swordfighting later on.

I couldn't buy anything because I was on the Free2Play side of the game, but it was awesome to see people affecting the game directly on the ship stats...and even if they weren't good enough at the stations, under battle you could motivate all your team and see it's effect very clearly.

I'm definitely going to play this. Me and my father played BF2 and BF2142 together.
Then I played a day of BC2's multiplayer and I didn't find it too amuzing.

But I'm pretty sure that DICE will make a good work on BF3, my guess is that they'll evolve from BF2 and not from the other games...I had much more fun on BF2 than on any other.

Also, playing Strike at Karkand in 2011, with destructible environment, better graphics and with my new rig?
Ha, this is going to be awesome.

To all infantry out there, join my squad and let's kill some n00bz.

Good luck to you guys, I always wanted to kick PTMC's ass but SoH is too time consuming for me right now.
I had to play the whole days to keep things going and yet I wasn't able to get everything going for Starborn Dominion when the empire got big due to lag and then less and less time to play..

DL'ing the game without seeing even a screenshot.

Any Bay12 servers up?

I've been waiting on Kenshi for ages.
Thought about posting about it here on B12 after it had some AI and demo going on.

I've been looking for a game like that for YEARS, eventually gave up.
Shores of Hazeron kept me busy for quite a while, but college is making me get away from games almost completely.

I cannot get Dawntide or WurmEmu to work on my computer.  One to a 64-bit Java error, and the other to a launcher issue that hasn't been resolved yet.  Grrrrr.  >:( >:( >:(

Dawntide sucked when I went on a beta, it's framerate and lag issues were really bad.
Someday when I'm bored I'll probably try the WurmEmu though... can you change stuff like skill decay/skill gain status?
This may be a real dumb question, but I never tried running any 'big game' servers on my computer.

I loved X2 and X3:R , but never got too far on them.
Then I got X3:TC, and I still have it installed...I guess I haven't played it for almost a year, because I got tired of getting millions, building 3 complexes, configuring the 3 complexes, buying 9 traders (3 for each complex, or more), configuring 9 traders, repeat this after 2 hours on SETA.

I'm so sick of it I can't stand to play anymore, it's like trauma or something.
But the game is awesome and you can sink months if not years into playing it.

Ha, I get away from my PC for some days and the dev comes here and give all this nice info  :P

Thanks for the replies alexm, I'm looking forward to preordering too.
I'm also liking what you guys are planning.

I just wanted to ask how far the game get's into the RTS/Building part.
You can make your faction, but will this mean there will be civilian/independent trading ships flying around in your sectors/planets/outposts, and AI military ships built by your administrators?

I'm not sure if this is in the scope for the game, I just wanted to know how the player-faction part will play out. But maybe it's too early to ask, heh.

Neat. Looks like a spiffier version of Freelancer, from the in-space pictures.

I'll definitely keep an eye on this myself, methinks.

True.
I wish you can land on any planet and build anywhere, from the screens...I guess you can.
That's what I will do, until someone steps in my lawn. Then I will go pew pew and kill every faction in the game..including mine.

If you think I'm satisfied with the amount of games I'm watching - you're wrong.
Found this one on youtube, randomly, and then found it on SpaceSimCentral too..

This game features everything I've been looking for in a space game for a while.
In their own words, it is:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Of course, playing in space, landing and exploring planets and shooting the hell out of stuff both in foot and on a ship is cool, but everyone knows what I really care about, so:

Build planetary outposts
Construct space stations
Discover technology
Create an army
Conquer the galaxy

Did you ever see such awesomeness in a feature list? Probably, but pretend you don't.
The game's official site looks, and is, a bit outdated.
But I sent an email to the dev before posting here, since space games usually dies and their creators vanish.
The reply:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Media: Screenshots and a Video

I'm not sure I fully appreciate the graphics yet (the hud, actually) But anything that allows me to build, fly, land and walk around is instantly great.
Again, I hope you join me in the great quest of waiting for cool indie sci-fi games.
Ciao

so this is some sort of settlers but in space.. looks neat... I cant find if this is a freeware project or this will be a comercial game tho...

I'm not sure either, I guess I read something about it but my mind deleted the information.
But I think it will be worth it in case they go commercial

14/09/2013 UPDATE: Very outdated post - check their page for more info! fractalsoftworks.com

Status: In development, planned release: 2011
Here I come with another promising indie title with sci-fi theme, unknown release date (soon), with building features, great looking, great concept..
And I probably found it because I'm great too.

Anyway: This is Starfarer, a "single-player sandbox style space role-playing game with strategic elements", as it says in their FAQ [Read it for moar info]

In short, it says you can customize your ship, get a fleet with custom officers, invest (build?) outposts in resourceful planets, and all the 'be a merchant, pirate, fighter, or all of the above' freedom these kind of Space games offer.
Also, they plan to make a living/meaningful economy, so you could have a profit by letting chaos spread on the habitable sectors, or offer your services for as long as evil exists.

You can see a small video and screenshots on their media section (I liked how suicidal and chaotic the battle looked btw).
The game's graphics looks like Distant Worlds, which is an awesome RTS and you probably know about it if you're reading this thread.

I hope your interest is enough to put this game on your "Waiting for" list, so you can be cursed to wait for it like I am.
