Given that tech is so important, it might be a good idea to restrict trade with it to empire and empire ally's only.. wouldnt want to run into some random other empire then they just come over and buy our tech and use it hurt us..

lol I just told Soulwynd I was thinking about that too.
Rift ya on? i'm coming back..

Head should try changing that commerce setting.

A tip for anyone looking to expand their population in order to rake in the credits from taxes. Refineries (Running Air and Hydrogen extraction), Treatment plants, and any other non resource labors are a GREAT way to keep people employed without having to deal with hassles of finding resource to keep products moving.

I've been running low on credits due to the strain research is putting on my coffer. Not having any other players to help me expand to other planets or build new cities I've taken to building colossal housing complexes, like 400+ condos and apartments, and just building non resource labors to keep them all employed. You essentially build and forget since none of the industries ever need to be fiddled with (They produce and require no resource input) or turned off. Plus it looks cool to see your planet look essentially like a hive world from orbit!

Nice, but I think planets can only host about 2000 citizens, right?
When you reach 1000 pop, it gives -1 morale for overpopulation.
My planet has 1900 right now, and it's giving -4 or -5 morale due to overpopulation.
Probably when it reaches -6, morale will be steady and no people will come nor go.

Yeh we were talking about Harshy enviroments powah plants, but Hydro plants is great.
Wind plants also work for places with strong winds (use F7 to check).
Solar power plants are kinda dumb, probably they only work in the day, but we need power for the night.

7. Sell all the stuff you bought to your city
8. Build Airport & Broker
This seems slightly off...  Or can you sell things to the town center?  I didn't see anything about that in the manual, it just says to drag the crates to the building site.

If you are in a starship, you just need to build a road slab beneath your ship (in other words, be landed in a road slab) to trade with the town.
I don't believe Rockets can do it, that's why it's different on the manual, so people with Rockets must do as on manual :z

no there not, you lie.

Also, can you sell the tech at Vb?
yea, i can do that... i think i can sell it to both really..

Sure.
I already built 4 warehouses & 8 refineries/electronic lvl 8 shops on the colony :]
I hope my electronic shop is TL7 though, I don't remember well what TL it is..

Hmm thanks for the info, Rift. Soon enough I'll get my TL7 :D

Also, can you sell the tech at Vb?
Vb makes 33k money/cycle, so I will use it to produce refinery (IO plasma) & electronics tech (IO Tubes).
:D

Servers died again. :(

Yeah, they are probably updating it.

9. Provide Air & Food & Electricity (nuclear/hydrogen/natural gas are my favorites)
10. PROFIT.

how does nuclear power work exactly, in the game?

You just need to mine radioactives and it works.
Since most harshy enviroment planets & moons got them, it's a good power source.

Note that landing a rocket successfully is really really tricky when it comes to matching speeds...

Yeah, if people are using rockets for their first moon base, I recommend doing some test flights first.
I died 2 times in a rocket and 3 times in a fighter to learn how to pilot them properly.
And yesterday I blowed my starship to remember how noob I still am.

Hmm hey guys, what can we use Magma for? There's around 180Q on ma'colony.
Also, I found Magmite and Vulcanite, or something like that.

Dang it, I want to make a colony but I need someone to talk me through it.

What colony? Harshy environment colony?
No biggie.
1. Get EVA suit
2. Close helmet
3. Get some tools/plastic/electronic parts/mechanical parts/textiles/metal/stone and a flag in your space ship
4. Land in the planet without dying
5. Build the Town Centre (or whatever it's called, heh)
6. Build a road slab underneath your ship
7. Sell all the stuff you bought to your city
7. Build Airport & Broker
9. Provide Air & Food & Electricity (nuclear/hydrogen/natural gas are my favorites)
10. PROFIT.

This is a (awesome & adapted) step-by-step of http://www.hazeron.com/htmoonbase.html

Also, anyone ever used Weapon Bays?
Can we use any TL ammo? Like bombs rockets and stuff?
I got some explosive ammo in the system, I'd love to make use of it.
Even if for orbital-bombarding wild life.

It's what SPORE should have been. Seriously, it's the closest to 2005 pre-alpha spore I ever saw.

Hey guys, did you know you can order your troops to get in a vehicle?
My TL7 design got a fighter bay, and a troop reserved to pilot it.
When I test it, I'll post how it goes.

There is a loyalty bonus but frankly Gabeux I have no idea how to increase loyalty.

No idea too, it was random all the times that happened to me..

Ohh and here is a tip for some players!

Churches and Cantinas are the only buildings that I am aware of that actually can produce happyness (+2 max for each)

There could be others but I don't know.

Nope, for now they are the only ones to give bonus.
If you get 6 food types (IIRC) it gives +1 morale per report. 10 food types (IIRC), gives +2 morale per report.

Total is +6, and it's as much I could ever get I think.

Booze thoes :D just noticed it.
+1 Liquor bonus.
All tough its rather random

Must be random, I produce all kinds and it doesn't give bonus :/
Maybe I should powah up the production?
hmm

Client-side, it runs at...well, "full speed" I guess.  And it's running at 1280xwhatever.  My machine is several years old; I run TF2 and L4D2 at 800x600 at moderate-low detail for some comparison.

They say they plan to market it as a pay MMO ($10/month) eventually, but that these issues need to get worked out first.  Well...considering that they are not just a game company, but a company that writes all sorts of other software, I trust that they know what they are doing.

I mean...A lot of the basic engine architecture, they nailed hardcore.  Full solar systems with no loading screens (except the minor stutter when you drop below planetary orbit)?  Seamless deployment of new software?  The sheer scale of it, and impressive persistence and stuff.  If you don't do this stuff correctly at the beginning, it's not going to happen--ever.

So what if the server-side stuff is slow.  Honestly I do believe that they can optimize it very nicely.  And who knows, maybe the eventual problem will be "throw more servers at it".  That's cool.  I think they'll pull it off.

I mean...They gotta, right?  :/  It's the new Noctis, man.  They can't just let me down like that.

I agree 100%, and this one is probably going to be the first game I'm going p2p ever.
But I won't pay if it keeps lagging & bugging like that though. There's a lot to fix.
1 hour in a jump? So if you are going exploring you will need 24 hours to do it properly? Nah.

When I emailed one of the devs to ask if donations would help with the lag, basically he said that they have unlimited bandwidth and that the lag is due to software issues they're working on.  The lag is a very large priority, second only to fixing crash bugs and unplayable-on-intel issues.

Me, I normally didn't see much lag last night.  And I've seen anecdotes that a lot of the lag happens when the devs are on and they are committing software upgrades that need to roll stuff out across the databases and/or bounce a server that you're playing on (unnoticably except for it seeming to hang).

Interesting.
I only fear that their engine may be the problem, because I really never played the game smoothly.
Of course, it can only be server-side, as my computer can hold a fortress of 200 dwarves and a cat for each one....no, I mean, it can run GTAIV with no hickups.

---
By the way, Rift, I'm trying to make a space port there to make things easier, I will need a spacecraft fac tech, but I'll make it in the main planet.
Anyway, soon I'll be able to fix the trade route (that will also be a ferry route), with the space port.
All we need is tech and citizens. And I just set my NPC ship to abduct citizens on Vb, since it's overpopulated anyways.

Crashed? Good. Maybe the other worker servers will come back up now. I've been unable to play all day due to the worker servers being down, apparently the down ones are for my area of the galaxy.

Yep, plus that makes jumping incredibly slow (I was stuck on loading screen for 40 minutes, and one of our guys waited 1 hour)
