Weird. usually the "monks" you see in Asia are just beggers, drunks and winos that pretend to be monks to recieve handouts. Thats the vast majority unless you go to the monastary itself.

A bit like the hobos in the USA that say they are veterans but will be hard pressed if you ask them what unit they were from or why they don't just get VA disability money...

Antarctica is actually apparently becoming colder and the ice and snowfall in the interior of the continent is getting thicker and more frequent. Some folks theorize that Antarctica regularly sheds glacial ice on its coasts due to the dome-shape of the continent and katabalic winds and other forces that cause it to shed and replenish in a cycle.

This isn't the most respected reference but the website is interesting and hilarious nonetheless.

Actually contesting a traffic ticket is a good way to avoid paying for it.

Almost always, the police officer that issued the citation simply will not show up for the court hearing. If the officer doesn't show up, the cititation is null and void.

Policemen have lives too and in the time it takes them to drop everything to go to court with you, they could fine 5 more people that likely will pay. Its not like he's getting a cut of the fine or anything.

Yes, I've found that a handful of marksdwarves can make simple matters out of otherwise difficult problems.

If something isn't working out to your favor, adding a squad of marksdwarves can only make it better.

So, to be trusted in china, you have to be a religious farmer whore?

Thats a pretty accurate assessment of the current state of their military, actually.

Yeah, but algae blooms and ocean kills/ coastal deadzones are more of a modern thing, I think.

Well, metropolitian France and its government is very secular, its rural areas haven't changed in geography, ethnicity or culture much since the first world war.

Outside of Paris and the major cities, its pretty conservative and traditional.

I like that condo arrangement, actually. I think I'm going to experiment with something like that in my next fortress. Try to make the fortress more decentralized to reduce travel time.

Do goblins gain swimming skill as they drown?

Hmm.

If it matters, you are actually supposed to lean forward and pinch your nose. If you lean your head back the blood will flow back and cause you to inhale your own blood. Also, all the blood coagulating in your nasal cavity will help stop the bleeding.

Thats probably more relevant if your nose is bleeding because of physical trauma rather then a spontanous nose bleed from blowed-up vessel in your steptum, though.

Standford Prison Experiment is good stuff.

Anyways, in a post-apopcalyptic situation I think I'd end up dead anyways. Somebody would set fire to my house and car right off the bat, I'd get shot leaving the city, I'd die of typhoid or break my leg out in the wilderness and die of infection.

Seems that he's doomed to die anyways. I think friendly humanoids eventiually starve to death in their cages anyways.

Ah man, I'm neurotic and possessive about my fortress already, now I got to make sure they are all thin and fit?

Anyways... I predict at least one DF player is going to get their entire fortress fat so they can make a soap industry from Dwarves.

Only 7.9% thought they were trustworthy? And thats the 3rd most trustworthy job?

Maybe the that concept/word isn't translated perfectly?
