The way i see it ( would be great if toady could confirm or infirm it ) is that body part in the entity file is an array store with the *character information* for each *entity* present. So if you remove an entry in the array it reset the whole array to default value ( Wich is undamaged/no-wound whatever ).

Game load read the *character information* apply the information your set. But what if the game while loading get information about nose from savefile, but the raw file doesnt have nose the game dont know what to do with null-reference but instead of crashing a safe-guard exist and apply the new raw-file bodypart array (just like when it create a new *character* with default)  instead of the corrupted information wich ould lead to crash.

WAY off topic, but did anyone else get an Orz vibe from this reply?

And no beating JRPGs (in the original language) without any knowledge of the Japanese language. That would be beyond unfair.

It's doable!  I've done it a few times myself (not as a challenge, of course).  It's still a horrible thing to challenge someone to do.

...maybe I should get back to doing stuff on my LS, but then again, I've been MMOing a lot more recently.

No, the "grrrr" is definitely the "neutral becoming aggro" message.  Though anything that gets damaged or killed gets attributed to you, even if you weren't even onscreen.  Also, they become aggressive if you so much as fly too close to them, I think.

I -did- once see such a spreadsheet.  A quick search of the wiki doesn't turn it up, though.  It must have been somewhere on the forums, but I don't know where.  ...and a search of the forums turns it up.  Value isn't listed there, though.

Or you could look up the individual layers on the wiki, but that's not exactly in the format you're looking for.

If you've playing the latest version of DF, then you're playing the 3D version.  In an earlier version, there were no z-levels.  I'm told that it was almost like a different game.

Would it be a good idea to give every dwarf every skill? Just enable everything. I wonder if it would be easier or harder.

That would be insanely bad.  No dwarf would get significantly good at any skill, and thus you'd get a lot of no-quality goods, and everyone would work slowly.  Also, then any job could be taken by a dwarf who was on the other side of your fortress doing something else...

Eh?  I was under the impression that the stars represented the pirate activity in the area, not how wanted YOU are.  ...then the authorities show up and blast everyone while telling them to stand down.

The way I dig channels is to start at the center then radiate outward a tile at a time.

If your channelling out a whole room I've found it's best to use a checkerboard pattern at first then remove the tiles farthest from the entrance one row at a time.

This only works if the "checkerboard" has support even further below it.  If not, things will cave in due to the lack of orthogonal support, as support does not flow diagonally.  Also, it'd be a pain to designate without a macro.

Another thing you can do is to lock the dwarf in once he's gathered things and started working, so that the only thing he can get to is the workshop.   He won't cancel to eat or drink on a whim if he can't access those things.  Just make sure to let him back out after he's done.
