I set my worldgens to end on the *9 so that my start year is an even number making things easier to keep track of, usually is 49 or 99.

i finally got lazy newb pack, genned an absolutely perfect spot

now, i tried running df prospector from the df hack folder, and it says the exact same thing about configuration or whatnot

df isnt even paused

This is an issue with your system and the way dfhack is compiled, I strongly suggest asking in the dfhack thread, as it appears to me that you are using it correctly and the people in the know about dfhack are probably not going to see this thread.

all you need is one channeled tile of aquifer behind the pump, then walls around that, like so:

~=hole channeled into aquifer below
<% pump, from right to left

For more than one pump, expand as needed:

Although, you could do the above like:

With . being floors.  The pumps will all drain into the one aquifer tile.

Or like this:

If you want to put your drain far away for whatever reason

i unzipped into a folder which is now sitting in my C drive, i have no clue where i'm supposed to move the folder


If the folder contains the dfhack executables, you dont need to move it anywhere, they will work from any location on your hdd, as long as DF is open.

You let too much water in.

Water that is above 1/7 will not evaporate, you need to let just enough water into the room to spread out to 1/7 tiles of water, instead you filled the room with 4/7 water and it will not evaporate until you drain the excess water out.

p.s. its 'dry' not 'try.

Windmills working through floors is a bug that is not always repeatable.  To eliminate the reliance on bugs, simply channel out the floor tile and re-build the windmill

You need walls beside the channel and output tile of the pump to contain the water, otherwise it will do just like you are describing, flow everywhere.

Download dfhack from the link in the dfhack thread in the modding section

Once you have decompressesd the dfhack files, you will have a folder full of stuff, most of them executables, named things like 'dfreveal','dfcleanmap',and 'dfprospector, those are the dfhack utilities.

Now that you have the utilities, you will go to DF and make sure you are playing a game and the game is up in fortress mode.  Then go over and double click 'dfprospector' and a console should come up with a list of the minerals on your map.

Your entire fort can be filled with miasma and the dwarves can be sleeping in mud, but if you have a single 1 tile meeting area and good booze/food, your dwarves will be permanently ecstatic after a short period of time.  Especially if you give them occasional breaks from work so that all dwarves are crammed around the meeting area.

If all of the falling tiles are stairs they will disappear when you collapse them, so the method you are doing will most definitely work.

Food in a stockpile simply NEVER rots, its, however, susceptible to vermin if stored outside of barrels.  But as long as a food item is sitting on a stockpile, it will not rot ever, no matter the type of food.
