The Land of Bretonnia is a feudal, traditional society where the peasants serve the knights in return for protection, while the knights are bound to militarily serve their lords in return for certain rights and titles. Bretonnia is, in many ways, similar to the fairy-tale kingdom of Lyonesse or Logres under King Arthur, with noble knights who live by a series of vows (to uphold the virtues of honor and chivalry) and beautiful damsels who are rescued by courageous, dragon-fighting heroes.

Warhammer mod: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=93254.0

Basically, to promote this great mod and to test my own faction, I've decided to run this (short) community fortress. The sheer amount of both threats (orcs, chaos, dark elves, skaven and countless more) and noble positions as well as unique artifact weapons, castes and workshops should be enough for me to run this thing. It's my first community fort so be gentle ;)

For years our beloved Bretonnia continued to grow in strength and influence. With the borders secure and our strongholds strong the lesser nobles turn their gaze beyond the borders sending scouts and founding new castles. With no major war going on, you have no means to prove your worth on the royal court. That is, you had no means until today. In the morning you've received a letter from the Duke himself! While it's not a great war you had hoped for, he proposed you a major role in one of his little projects. It's definitely a good way to start your adventure.

CHOOSE THE THEME OF THE FORTRESS (first 5 posts will decide)
-a grand castle full of nobles and intrigues
-royal sheep flock protected by brave shepherds
-a superstitious farming village
-a holy chapel with the pilgrims and protected artifacts
-a group of young knights embarking on a dangerous journey

As for the dorfing your characters - the castes available:
NOBLES:
nobles - The Knights of Bretonnia are renowned for their skill at arms, their bravery and chivalry.
mounted noble - Those knights look like they were born on the horseback and make fearless and dangerous lanciers.
champion - Holy knight driven by visions of the Lady and of the Grail.
---
PEASANTS:
peasant - A poor low born peasant.
craftsman - A low born peasant, skilled in various crafts.
mousillon peasant - A poor, horribly deformed low born peasant suffering from foul diseases.
grail pilgrim - Pilgrims are fanatically devoted to the Grail Knights, and will fight any who dare profane against them. In battle their devotion is such that they will often fight to the last man.

Thanks!

DF Modding / Just a few questions
« on: March 27, 2010, 01:13:07 pm »

Hi all. I'm working on a WWIish with fantasy elements and I'm wondering about few things that will change in the next version.

1. I'm pretty sure I've read something about gas monsters. How will they work?
2. Is there any way of changing the rate of fire other than changing the weight?
3. Will we be able to create monsters/pets in the workshops? How about creating zombie/wild animals?
