The constraints and designs used to mae the game itself qualifies the genre.

Well, It's like calling all FPS's Halolikes.
Apart from being Wrong as the first FPS was waaay before then (Was it wolfenstien or doom?) it's also stupid, as the enre has better candidates for names.
Rougelikes are a niche game, and as such get called that.
