Fling sounds hilarious.  I don't suppose I could use it to shoot planets at enemy empires I don't like?  Because that would be pretty great.

Will ships require having those vector maneuvering thrusters, like in Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, or will they still have to flip around to do their whole 'thrust' thing?  Are there any plans to implement directional armor/shielding and the like?

I imagine a swimming pool would make a handy little pit for burning the dead, all pre-dug out and whatnot.

I'm BlueFarce on PSN - character name uhh.  Moory, I think.

I need to figure out where I can dump my derpy car.  I don't wanna leave it around to get impounded or lose that free insurance on it, but every time I'm fucking around to get some dosh for a garage some dick pulls a driveby and blows out my tires, and it becomes worthless.  And new tires are expensive.  and fragile.  <_>

There's a disassemble key, though I can't recall what it is.  I think, like, ( or something - check the wiki.

I built a bunch of turrets on a vehicle and mounted one on a custom-built cart, but neither will fire, even after I set them to burst mode via controls.  Am I missing something?  Do I actually have to stock them up with ammo, or something?

Did you drop the right ammo into their respective squares?
So they DO need ammo?  Crap, alright.

I just cheated to build a huge, five-ton deathtruck, two large electric and two V8s - and oh god, either vehicle controls are being weird with me, or it is incapable of moving at anything slower than 20 mph, to which it jumps to immediately upon throttling up.  It is slightly difficult to drive.

Oh God they're spawning on all over the map, even the opposite side of my shelter from the bloom.  I have no mask I'm gonna die oh god.

Dammit.

DAMMIT.  That bloom is like 12 map sectors away!

From my outdated knowledge base, I recall preferring to molotov Brutes.  If not that, shooting them in melee, making sure not to have any recoil.  Headshots are practically guaranteed, which means dedzambie.

I don't remember if they have armor, though.  For Hulks, which do, you're probably gonna wanna spray 'em with AP ammo at close range, also keeping recoil low.  Shotguns are also okay, but may not work well depending on shot-type - Birdshot is practically worthless, IIRC, for instance.  Molotov again probably one of the easier ways to deal with 'em.

415
How hard is it to pulp 'em?  I've plowed into them going like, 20-30 mph, on the occasions I've found working cars, and they often don't take enough damage to make their corpse disappear.  It's pretty tough to get up much faster, due to shit all over the road and whatnot.

Alphas man.

Or is this in beta?  I forget.

Anyway, I've not played very extensively since Static Spawn became a thing, but it's a serious pain.  I loved being able to dash through town, feeling like I was surrounded, but left enough gaps to dart past them zambies, smack the zambies capable of keeping up with me, and quickly toss houses for swag before bailing out a window to try to get walls between me and my persuers.  Static spawn makes this pretty suicidal, when the horde starts off HUGE and EVERYWHERE - especially with brute and hulks being static as well, since they're too strong to fight off as a new character and too fast to outrun unless you can lose them in a house.  It's aggravated HIGHLY by the fact that the most easily acquired counter to those - molotovs - are hard to make due to that whole "you need another bottle" thing.  If uhhh.  If someone could fix that, I would be -really- grateful.  Like, revise the crafting to accept more units of something, and also not require a separate container, or something?

Like seriously.  I'm fucking terrified of the city.  I heard it's a lot safer to raid at night... but even then, almost as soon as I step into the city's general vicinity, I always end up hearing zambies all around me, who seem to home in on me like they're laser guided.  Scent or not, it's like, fuck.  It just feels like the city - where all the cool shit is - is practically inaccessible until you're like mid-level, and can manage to stand your ground against the horde.  All if which is a crapshoot, reliant on that you don't get noticed by a Brute or Hulk, which is ALSO reliant on getting proper gear to handle them - maybe AP rounds in an SMG, maybe a shotgun, maybe a molotov (again, hard to make), maybe enough meth to outrun them.

I've played about one game or so with a relatively recent build - streets filled with busted cars, and stuff, but IIRC before the bush-car-death update and shopping carts - and survived with relative ease as a fringer that tried to search the city during the night, but it was difficult to manage to get anything, and felt like I was making very little progress.  The 'no progress' feeling was amplified by the fact that I really didn't have any openings to stop and butcher bodies.  Cremating them was also pretty finicky, as I recall..

On a rather digressive note, turrets have infinite ammo, don't they?  So you could like, mount one on a shopping cart, and just cart it through town as a mobile bubble of bullet-induced safety?  Could I build like, craptons of them, and just scatter them around town, to deal with clearing the streets.

Also, a question, and a suggestion/question:
Once Z-levels are a thing, what's going to be done with trees?  Will they be made all multi-story, and will figuring out how they fall when you chop them down become things, and stuff?

What happens when a zambie revives?  Does it just pop back up at full health?  Would it be a good idea to have them raise as 'battered' [whatever kinda zambie they are], which would denote that they've been put down before, and have them spawn at varying levels of injury and stuff.  Maybe have several different levels of 'battered' prefixes, until they just disintegrate when you slay them for the last time?

A role-playing game where you explore dungeons full of shape-shifters in the deepest oceans.
Sounds pretty baller.  ( .j63jHh767i )

One of my other usernames, sanity checked, gets me A role-playing game where you meet ghosts in a wide-open procedural world, which sounds pretty awesome.

Farce gets me:
Sanity checked, An FPS where you go on a heist with terrorists before the apocalypse.
Unchecked, A social media game where you stare at music notes competitively.

One of my other other usernames and it's alias gets me these, both sanity unchecked:
A turn-based strategy game where you navigate world-spanning abominations and you can create a variety of objects.
A sim game where you make peace with other worlds after the apocalypse.

Both sound pretty sweet.

This is now my favourite feature in GTA V.
The last two are great.

Also, yes, that too also is one of my favorite things.  Though, I don't think I've gotten any awesome ones like those.

:o

So what is it about these "types" of games that draws people so much? I tried Saint's Row: the Third and got bored. You drive around, shoot things, drive around some more, shoot things some more... lots of little unlockables that feel like a chore to unlock. I feel like most of the GTAs I've played were the same. I played GTA 1 and 2, and the first one in 3d as well.

I mean, I too want not to notice my wife and feel the need to clean myself!
S'probably because SR3 was bad.

The appeal for me is the open-world, personally.  Even though all it really works as is a tedious thing to drive through between missions, I reeeally like that it's an open sorta playground you can do whatever in, as opposed to just being all level-based and stuff.

Also, for what it's worth, I hated GTA:SA.  The sounds the guns made were boring and terrible.  GTA 4 was pretty much the same, except everything was now also slow.  Guns had low rates of fire, moving around on foot felt super slow, even when you were sprinting, and cars accelerated horribly sluggishly.

GTA 5 feels sooo much better.  I can blaze through the micro-uzi's magazine in like, a second, and cars feel so much faster now, but retain the sorta-difficult, squirrely handling that I recall there was in 4.  It was cool, but mixed with how long it took to get moving again after losing control in that, it was also frustrating.  That you can get going so much faster makes it much more fun in 5 - that, and delightful effects like visible damage to your car when you hit shit - body crumpling, paint coming off in huge tears and scrapes - and dirt spraying errywhere if you're on, uhhh, dirt, and getting your car filthy.  Neat, immersiony things like that.

Also yes.  The story and writing are pretty awesome too.
