Eh.  Personally, I prefer to go for Devil King Eddie Murphy or Man Sex Hachi.

There's a couple others I like too.

Just got this, and I've been having a blast.

I really like that there's a choice in your equipment.  I've never played the originals for any appreciable amount of time, though I've watched a couple LPs, but one thing that always bugged me about them was how limited your arsenal was.  In the first, all I can remember is ever seeing use was starting rifle > laser (possibly skippable) > heavy plasma, with occasional support weapons in the form of fire/explosive cannon rounds/rockets and stun/blaster bombs.

Afterlight seems to be tempting me with an eventual moddable arsenal and tons of big guns, though I've been using the projectile weapons for forever (and they're awesome).  There's also variation in suits and troops, instead of the completely linear armor tree from original X-com, which is great... except I've also not gotten any except the light battle suit.

The only thing I can really complain about is how slow the geoscape goes.  I've only got one science and tech truck ranging across my giant territory (30 territories, a quarter of the surface I'd estimate), they're hella slow, and I'm not sure if I can ever get more.  As a result, getting cool new buildings and tech takes forever, as I can't get the needed resources quick enough.  Research similarly takes aaaages despite four guys working non-stop.  I've got tons of them lined up, and still a few unassigned.  I guess the speed's balanced to let me keep up with the aliens... but still, I've only just gotten grenades.

Fights are quite fun, though I've only been using the humans on missions due to finding my xeno allies and the drones pretty useless.  As a result, they're severely underleveled, and therefore useless!  Despite the lack of variety, though, the humans have enough equipment to stay varied, and therefore interesting.

It was pretty cool when the enemies ramped up in difficulty the first time - suddenly captains! - and this second time I've managed alright too.  ...Except for my latest mission, where like eight high-level beastmen are bunched up in one of their huge great hall things, with five more outside.  I think I counted 3 chiefs in there, with another in the group outside.  I've been trying to overwhelm them through sheer grenadery, but there's just too many of them.  The captains and chiefs manage to stay standing after I huck like five at them, and I just can't suck up the amount of gun they bring to the fight.

...Actually, I just thought up another thing to complain about.  Why do my damn drones need combat experience to have their upgrade chips installed?  That makes them weak, unable to keep up, and non-expendable, as they should be.  Dammit, game.

...I actually kinda liked the trailer.  Those black static blob things were pretty cool.

I don't like it as an X-com game, or how it completely disregards every single thing in the X-com fluff and such.  But, ignoring the awful awful brand-rape?  It looks neat.  And I don't even like fpses.

Hm.  I tried to play Go once, after an extremely brief rundown of the rules and goal, which taught me nothing.

My opponent was my anime club prez, and he then proceeded to steamroll me.  After that he played someone else, and only then did I learn you could take handicaps.

Never again.

I've got some artifacts, but what I'll miss the most is that non-artifact katana.

25 attack AND 4 speed?  Yes please.

Beating people with other people's anger is great and all, but I miss my integer of mass destruction.  :(  Or was it integral?  Whatever it was.

Apparently I've got MURDER CLAWS and a dessicated arm wrapped around my neck like one of those neck boa things, so that's pretty great.

Do they?  I always thought they spawned with just crowbars and their jackets.

Anyway, the house I was talking about is in a save game, so I've been trying to claim the place, and subsequently failing and dying over and over and over and over.  It's probably stupid of me, because it's not particularly defensible - just a huge, mostly-smashed up house at the map's edge, which seems to have tons of zeds just swarming out of sight.  The thing is, it's got a lot of cool stuff inside, either dropped or left on tables and stuff.  A hunting rifle, at least two medkits and grocery bags, lot of planks to board stuff up with, beds, and furniture to shove up against stuff.

But there are just so many zombies.  :(  I've only just realized "Hey!  If I run away twice and THEN hit them, I don't risk getting hurt!" (derp) and I've been good enough at separating and moving them that I usually don't get overwhelmed, but I just lose the war through sheer attrition and numbers..

Barricading a house.

I step out to grab some planks, when I see a skeleton spot me.  Waiting for it to run up, suddenly another skelly and a DISCIPLE show up - the Disciple already in melee range.

I'm only on Day 2, hour 4.  I have three skills.

Awssum.

Ran back in and managed to avoid him.  Instead of RUNNING LIKE HELL with some semblance of intelligence, I ran back for a rifle that was on a desk and went to find him again.

...Then I realized I should've also replaced my bandages with a medkit, and hit sleepy status so it's twice my speed.

The room I left the medkit in is barricaded, and I have nowhere to run.

The disciple is two tiles away from me.

HEAVEN OR HELL, LET'S ROCK

I have yet to survive any decent length of time.  :(

As I roam, I always always run into zombies everywhere I go.  If I manage to find a safe place to rest my head, it ends up either compromised or I die roaming outside again.

My last safehouse had some other survivor idiots wander in.  They attracted a ZMaster and his horde, and I died trying to clear the place so I could get into my bed and get rid of that sleepy status.

Bikers don't need guns to kill zombies when they have jackets that awesome.

Agreed.

Also, it's pretty awesome how the cars in the streets stay on fire forever.  I really mean that.  Even if it's kinda silly, I loev how they block sight.

Has it ever stopped raining for anyone?  I practically always start on either heavy rain or rain, and if by some miracle heavy rain lightens to normal rain, it will ALWAYS worsen to heavy rain again post-haste.

That would be rad.

I want stackable ammo and a chance for noises to also wake sleeping people up.  I want to say I want the disciples nerfed so you don't instantly lose if one finds you before you hit endgame super-hero status... but that would be lame of me.

I made a narrow escape from a disciple just now.  Unfortunately, another one found me again while I was rooting around a completely wrecked house, looking for someplace to get some Zs.  It gave me a turn to pray before it ate me.

I'd traveled half across the map to get to that wrecked house, because I heard an army patrol was there - was hoping to find them and hide behind them for a while.  I found them, but they were all zombies.  :(

It's kinda weird how the crossbows are loaded with three times as many huge bolts as the guns and their tiny bullets, but whatever.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As fun as "Permanently running for my life forever" is, I think I'm gonna turn it down a bit.
