General Discussion / Re: What happens if you believe in a wrong ideology?
« on: May 02, 2010, 05:25:20 pm »It depends on what is the one true ideology.
If the one true ideology is Christianity, you burn in hell forever.
If the one true ideology is Muslim, you also burn in hell forever.
If the one true ideology is atheism, nothing much happens. Perhaps you are happier, perhaps you are sadder. Nothing of cosmic importance, really.
If the one true ideology is Hinduism, um... it really depends. You do not necessarily have to believe in Hinduism to reap its hypothetical rewards - you have to believe in the Supreme to achieve moksha, but you can get benefits from karma even if you don't believe in Hinduism. Note: information from skimming Wikipedia. Anyway, even if you don't believe in the Supreme, you get to live forever, reincarnating when you die. Not a bad deal, if you ask me.
If the one true ideology is Greek mythology, you can still get into the afterlife, as long as your family believes in it, and gives you a swank funeral and puts a coin under your tongue and whatnot. Still, if you are damned (not sure how you get damned, if you don't sacrifice enough bulls or something?), you're going to Tartarus. And if you get initiated into a mystery cult you get to go to the Elysian Fields when you inevitably die of κοολ-αιδ poisoning. Not bad. Thing is, gods are liable to start screwing your wives and smiting your armies if you don't sacrifice enough wine and packets of 100 bulls on mountaintops. Always with the smiting, those Greek gods.
and if it's scientology then a whole bunch of weird shit happens.
lol anyway... I'm pretty sure that because I play DF my version of hell is some kind of small room inside a vein of adamantite.
