Another option if you run into that situation is to use (d - b - h) to hide the unwanted stone.  It'll still be there technically but you won't see it and you won't have to rely on dwarven labor.

Maybe I'm not thinking apocalyptic enough for DF, but I see party-related violence and the new health care system averaging out to make it so any well functioning fortress will simply have a dozen dwarves walking around with splints and casts from last weekend's fights.  The dwarves let off some steam, the doctors have plenty of work, the jails aren't populated exclusively by mandate-missers and homicidal maniacs, and everyone is a novice wrestler.

Ha, this game has become ridiculous.  It's got at least two novice throwers and a no-adjective thrower.  Only one original dwarf survives; hilariously it's the only one without a name, awesomely he's the mayor.

Now sausage needs to find the cave river and hook it up to what's left of the cave pool so the new shared magma supply is surrounding by a ring of highly pressurized water.

Hey, can I get an extension on my turn.  I'm only just now starting and I have something like 3 hours to finish.
Yeah dude although if you could get it up sometime tomorrow that would be ideal... (the west fort is a mess so if you really need it you could take 'til like noon Tuesday, and we'll just bump all that stuff in my previous post up one more day).

Right on guys!  Turn list (on the OP) updated. 

When crash picked up the turn he was sort of swamped with other forts and with oral surgery, so I told him it'd be cool if he went a little over (at the time he was the last and only on the list anyway); he should be uploading some time tomorrow.  Also, sausage replied via PM so he gets the turn after that--and so he doesn't get screwed over, I'm giving him until midnight on Thursday (instead of noon).  All subsequent turns are also pushed back 12 hours.  So (name here)'s turn ends on Monday the 27th at noon, and Samus has until midnight on Thursday, July 30th.

Hope this isn't too convoluted...

And I'm not sure what you mean by the water channel, is it that ditch?  It worked insofar as the dwarves there didn't all die of thirst when they otherwise would have because your magma project dried up the well.  It also worked if by "worked" you mean "totally screwed up the lock mechanism I spend like two days of playing and savescumming to perfect."  I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT DWARF FORTRESS!

Tarq, the answer to your third question can be found here and here.  Indirectly that answers your first question, too; things have just been dicey for so much of the time there haven't been many beautification projects, even basic stuff like using hide.

I don't know anything about any levers though.

Yeah that's what I thought.  Something strange is going on in that cave, then....  it's definitely a plot, not a stockpile.

So for the last several turns, the same plump helmets have been sitting, ripe for the picking, in the unaccessible hermit's cave above the overfortress.  Shouldn't they have spoiled a long time ago, or do plumpt helmets not do that?

ha yeah I saw that your turn on sparkgears was coming up...  yeah if you're gonna hold off a day or two anyway I might do some labeling, get things a little more comprehendible, and upload a second save. (never mind, ran out of time)

aso, if no one else signs on by the time your turn is over, I think I might have to bring Twohermits to its logical conclusion by setting everyone on one side to be hostile via Dwarf Companion and throwing them at each other...

otherwise it's hard to believe this is the same gearspark--look at those defenses!  it's almost like someone wanted these dwarves to survive, rather than lead short miserable lives of five years or less.

Well crash, it's all yours...  You're on the west side, you'll need to do the bridges--it's now a regular lever-to-bridge connection via the pitchblend levers on each side.  You have 'til Sunday night.
