You can manually change this in the text files in the init folder. That's how I genned a 200z map.

I''m pretty sure I'd gotten to 15000 in a day. Good times.

Your puny computers have been brought to an end.

(It's static, by the way.)

You can thank me for the drink. I employed an extra brewer and built an extra still to keep our good men and women from ever having to go without alcohol. Priorities, my man.
Then thank you very much. With your efforts, I can dedicate mine to building and infrastructure.

Sorry for confusing you: Glyphs are not physical. They are a mixture of diagrams, symbols, trains of thought, emotion, magic etc. This is how you can use them when bound, gagged, paralyzed and so forth, although he gestures and words certainly do help.

It's not so much memorising symbols and methods from a textbook; you get a basis and guide, then go from there and interpret it into something that works for you. And so, all glyphs look slightly different and one can't simply "copy" someone else's glyph on the spot.

While activated, they can sometimes manifest as glowing symbols made of light amongst other things.
> Cast a glyph of invisibility on self, to ensure safety.

You can't move or do anything except think, unfortunately. You fail.
So how could this fail then?  I'm confused.

Edit: Also, on a scale of 100, how was the movie?
Even if you were to know that you currently exist (which you don't, having no senses to know it with), you'd still be paralyzed, and you're still not good enough with magic to be able to do it without gestures and words.

The movie was good but not as good as the last one (which is still really good, as the other one was amazing, at least to me). I'd give it an 85, maybe even 88. I'd recommend it.

Well, that shoots down my theory that the void is actually us losing our 5-senses due to some interaction with the magic and our brain functions and that we could somehow adapt...

Which makes me wonder if magic will work by pure thought... instead of using the physical glyphs, we could attempt to think of spells that could work.

The "scary part" is how do we know we aren't being manipulated in real life as a sock puppet of some type by the remaining rebels.  I assume we are still there, but can't tell what is going on outside our normal brain functions of thought.

Please be aware that magic is never free, and just because you don't see the consequences now doesn't mean that there are none. Because there will be, and when they come they will often be more than you can handle.

And sorry for the delay. I was in the cinema watching Iron Man 2.  8)

Uhh, what?

I can't see anything.

And where did we get so much food and drink? I haven't touched the kitchens and stills ever since I started, but we still have plenty!

I sacrificed a goblin for Summersday as usual, and everyone cheered as I gouged its eyes out, sliced his ears and nose, slashed its belly open letting the guts fall out, slit its throat, then sacrificed the corpse to the magma in the traditional fashion. The others must have smelled the blood and heard the screams, for soon afterwards goblins ambushed us. Our wrestlers managed to defeat them, but not without losses; two warrior champions were shot and killed by crossbowgoblins.

And in the midst of mourning, a fish cleaner became possessed by a spirit by the macabre events and created an artifact, which he names "Pagetreaty". It is a weapon rack, illustrating the irony of war and the difficulties of peace. A truly legendary work, which tells us that the spirit of greatness is within us all.

I am currently commissioning a series of engravings to record these events.

It seems that many dwarves here have changed priorities. Most of the inhabitants are off hauling something or other instead of doing real work, and the village manager, Drake, refuses to do anything but stand around, making me order everything manually. Major project slowdowns. The possibility that I may end my reign with nothing complete looms near.

Even worse, the dwarven elections were taking place, meaning more work for me. I had to prepare every single speech, letter and interview for that blasted good-for-nothing dwarf, and not a word of appreciation comes. Not a one. But, I know that this is better than the alternative: Having someone else be mayor, and running the risk of being hammered - or even worse, fired and stripped of my power, unable to make a difference.

I succeeded however, and it seems that such dark thoughts will be left 'til later.

Spoiler: The elections (click to show/hide)

-----------------------------------------------

Stuff is going slowly after all the dwarves decided to haul. Also, the village manager is refusing to process orders, despite being given an office. Phooey!

> EAT nothing

There is nothing to be eaten.

> Know the darkness is but a veil.

You focus on knowing that the darkness is a veil, and eventually you convince yourself that it is so.

> Slice through the darkness.

As it turns out, the darkness wasn't really a veil after all, and you might as well be trying to slice the air with a spoon. You are disappointed.

> Use glyph of fashion on bandits. Neckerchiefs are so last week.

There are no bandits, and you do not possess the knowledge for a Glyph of Fashion. Additionally, the bandits never wore any neckerchiefs of any kind.

> Cast a glyph of invisibility on self, to ensure safety.

You can't move or do anything except think, unfortunately. You fail.

> Try to sense something in the darkness.

You try to sense something, but you can't. The void is completely empty, like a void should be. You are pretty much under total sensory isolation. You feel, smell, see, taste and hear nothing whatsoever.

I'd think that if a dwarf ran into a creature that killed all his family members, he'd try to kill that creature no matter what.

And if a person has experienced enough trauma, eventually that dwarf should be numbed, and would be more willing to do suicidal things and run away less, having nothing to live for (and for the same reason, would not fight as much?)
