Issue:

You can't hack cast this stuff in z levels where your dwarves can't reach. This makes casting a tower hard.

Any ideas?

Edit, making an up and down stairway will allow you to hack cast a block of obsidian 41 x 41, not larger.
Recommend using 2/7 magma to avoid unsightly holes in the obsidian casting. Also extreme elevations also allow hack casting next to them.

I'm not following you. I get the idea that you're hack casting obsidian, which is great. However, I'm not sure exactly how you're telling me to do it. Can you please elaborate the process used?

I can manage to place a lot of magma next to a lot of water, but I can't get any precision out of it. Also when I place water over magma, I get strange little pockets of water or magma in the cast obsidian result. I can't edit them out with obsidian blocks or otherwise change them. Weird.


Note 1: The casting will not work if trees are present in the casting area. The tree itself will remain a tree.

Note 2: You cannot make water appear more than one z level above natural ground. It basically has to be a level that your dwarves could access with current elevations. This is a danger of spawning this stuff outside

Note 3: You have to dig out an area underground before you can do this there.

Note 4: Place 1/7 magma and 7/7 water for best results. The excess water will be boiled away by the magma.

I have them on the map, I want them caught. (LANTERNS!)

How does one do this? I've read the wiki and it wasn't entirely helpful, either that or I just couldn't get it to work. Additionally it said nothing about how to designate which insects/vermin would be caught by the trapper. I'm not even sure if that's really possible but if it is, then that would be wonderful. If it is not possible then, I wouldn't mind a modding program to change whatever the crap I do catch into a firefly. Unfortunately it does not appear that tweak is compatible with DF 31.18 as DF Hack (partially) is.

If you download DF Hack, then you can create areas of magma, water and obsidian. Clearly, this tile editing rocks.

The only issue I have is that I've been doing it one square at a time for hundreds of squares to make buildings, pools, etc.

Is there a mass designation function for this software or am I just wishing.

Hate Swamps, don't know why. Want none of them in my world.

Tried to reduce the custom worldbuilding options for wetlands, nothing. (which is pretty vanilla so I don't think it's modding really. It's included in the standard software...).

Has anyone else managed to eliminate or severely reduce the number of swamps in their worlds?

I already have most stones boiling. However there are patches of gypsum I need, but would like to have less of. I need the randomly generated patches of those stones to be smaller in size/diameter.

Is there a way to do this. ?

That might kinda work actually. I have the original NES and Sega. Also Playstation. No N64 personally but possible. Of course I'd be a little worried about someone mashing my vintage gaming systems but yeah.... Location? Hum, Library? Rec center? Not sure exactly.

As for the number of people I'm not really sure. The more the merrier I suppose. As long as you make sure the people are acceptable and not nuts I guess it'd be ok. That is the issue though.... Meh.

Meh I guess I should. Truthfully school sidetracked me like crazy but ....

I suppose it might be interesting to see ideas for a sustainable social event that could meet every week/month. I suppose it doesn't have to be massively expensive and would probably be better if it wasn't. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have some appeal. You're going to need some hardcore small business studying if you didn't in college. I'm sure there's a lot more to running a legal service than just the legal service.
