Sanguine Lux

Intro:
Late into the night, you were startled by a knocking on your door.  The rhythmic tapping was calm but persistent though it ceased as you went to investigate.  A slow chill entered the room making you instinctively ready yourself and back slowly away from the door.  The floorboards themselves creaking with cold as you walked backwards. A flicker in the moonlight gave you but a second to turn before an open palm slammed into your side knocking the air from your lungs.  In the still darkness of night you heard nothing as blows rained upon your incapacitated body knocking you quickly unconscious.  Waking but briefly some time later to a flickering warm glow on your eyelids you struggled to sit up only to find yourself tightly chained and bound in a small cage, your burning home all you could see from the back of a wagon.  A short humanoid figured clothed in a robe as black as the night air looked in at you, silhouetted by your ruined home.  With a hushing sound it dropped a heavily scented canvas over your cage, the fumes overpowering your senses and knocking you back out.
Over the next days you spent more time sleeping than awake, being thrown food by a figure that only seemed to exist at the corners of your vision before hearing a distinct hushing sound which carried you back to unconsciousness.  Eventually the sounds of cheering and excitement overpowered whatever drug was running through your blood and you awoke just in time to feel yourself tossed down a stone chute.  Landing unbound in a pile of musty smelling hay,you found yourself in a slightly larger cage illuminated by lamp-light from outside the bars.  In the cage with you was a large chest containing most of your worldly possessions.  On either side of you, you could make out figures in similar cages donning a wide variety of arms and armor.  Moving about you felt a sharp pain on the back of your hands, holding them up to the light you saw matching silvery tattoos of an eagle in flight.
You look up to see a pair of soldiers in royal attire following behind a spindly figure wearing a porcelain mask adorned with the same eagle as what is tattooed upon your hands.  The masked person turns to the cages and speaks in an unnaturally flat sounding voice “Good… the last of my pawns is here.  You all look rather tough for criminals sentenced to death, should put on a good show this year.  Try not to die too fast in the arena, I paid good money for you all.  If you somehow win I’ll even let you go, it.. is tradition.  Hehehehehe, not that I’ve ever had a team win the scum games, that is firmly in the court of the Emperor's Executioners after all.”  The masked figure continues to snicker as other prisoners shout out their innocence, or how it was all a misunderstanding.  The figure waves it’s hand and says “Well then, you won’t have any problem proving your innocence by winning now will you?”  It then turns and stalks away down the rows of prisoners.
Donning your gear quickly, you have but little time to consider the situation as the cage starts to rise into the stone ceiling above.  Who abducted you under false charges of criminal activity?  Why did you not receive any trial before being sentenced to death?  But most importantly how to best exact revenge, for you know you are innocent and vow to prove it.

The continent of At’Xant
The current calendar is based on the time of the apocalyptic event that occurred at the city of Xant, capital of the continent of At’Xant.  437 years ago, the Aetheric Comet crashed into the center of the city despite the best attempts of the magus living there.  The resulting impact destroyed the city and the land underneath it completely, as well the following earthquakes flattened the vast majority of cities on the continent.  Very few survived on At’Xant and the tidal waves that flooded outwards from it devastated much of the surrounding world.  Decades afterwards however, magic users felt the call of a vastly untapped power originating from the destroyed continent.  It was the glorious Sun King who lead the masses of pilgrims and settlers back to the destroyed continent, to discover a newly formed volcanic island with the Aetheric Comet flying like a beacon above it’s peak.  Many multitudes of monstrous beings had felt the call as well, and the battle to take the island from their evil clutches took vast numbers of lives.  The survivors formed the New City of Xant, in honor of the lost civilization.  Meanwhile the Sun King, now declared the Sun Emperor, sailed back to his northern empire to tell his people of the transformed continent that was now theirs.

The Colosseum
Founded by the victors of the battle for New Xant, it was erected off the coast of the volcanic island using their new found magic.  In it, people would fight against monsters, beasts and criminals as a mock-reenactment of the battle to win the island.  Over time however, the tradition spread to many towns and cities in the sun empire as word of it’s entertainment was carried forth by bards and victors of the arena.  The bloodsport continued to gain in popularity and the profession of gladiator was born, though many combatants continue to be condemned criminals, slaves, monsters and even magical constructs.

New City of Xant
With the Aetheric Comet burning brightly over the city, it continues to act as a beacon to magic users world wide.  The laws of reality are easily manipulated on the island, and many colleges of magic have formed in the ever growing city to teach the constant stream of pilgrims and apprentices.  The magical abundance and draw has seen the city grown back to the pre-comet fall days, with nearly a million people calling the slopes of the volcano home.  The waters around Xant itself are full of life, as the waters which spring forth from the volcano bring rich nourishment for the sealife.  Many fishing ships and trade ships can be seen coming and going from the island of Xant at all times of day, and it serves as the integral center of the Sun Empire’s foothold on the Continent of At’Xant.  In recent history however, the city itself has been run by the Archmages who claim loyalty only to the study and advancement of knowledge in the world.  For the time being, the Sun Empire has not the power to overthrow the many members of the Archmages Guild and is simply content exploiting the rich natural resources of the new continent.

City of Dusk:Oligarm
Home to the descendants of those who survived the Aetheric Comet’s fall on the continent of At’Xant, it sits inside a great cavernous expanse beneath the giant's wall.  Originally inhabited by Dwarves and a small population of Gnomes, it opened it’s doors to all survivors.  Now an extremely multi-cultural city, it is a stretching realm of barely illuminated dusk.  Great spiraling carved stalagmites hold an unknown number of residents, while small candles and lanterns give the appearance of a great many stars throughout Oligarm.  Troubled greatly by wars with beast tribes and drow during the period of the Sun King's pilgrimage to Xant, Oligarm swore it’s loyalty to him in return for the assistance of the Sun Empire's military.  The city’s leaders remain to this day largely the original dwarven clans, they hold their promise of loyalty to the Sun Emperor close, since for them it was a promise made but a mere generation or two ago.

Using the rules on this page of the pathfinder wiki:http://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/character-creation/

Characters start at level 3, with 3000 gold to spend on equipment.

Your attributes are using the 20 point buy (high fantasy)

You may be any race from the core or featured lists, with the exception of Drow.

All core, base and hybrid classes are allowed, as well as non-third party archetypes.  Unchained classes are not allowed and synthesis summoners are also banned.

To make the game run smoother, we will be using the character sheets available on roll20 as it allows the automation of many attacks, ability uses, and even a handy spell catalogue.  As such, please contact me on discord to receive an invite to the roll20, and I will give you a sheet to edit at the same time.

The Bearer's of Flame: Intro

The gold embossed parchment had many names written on it in a careful script which seemed to crawl and change each second.  A few of the town's children amused themselves throughout the day attempting to read what it said and in turn pondered when four strangers each stopped mesmerized by the words for a short time before wandering off.  What the strangers saw in turn was different for each of them though no less compelling.

Vibian Amarante: Daughter of the trade, should you wish to see the shine of gold mingling with the warm rays of the sun once more come to the Drunkards Head and sit at the table closest to the cellar at midnight.

Elizabeth who calls herself the Holy Maiden:  Glory in the heart of the storm and a path littered with the bodies of thy enemies begins at the table near the cellar in the building named the Drunkards Head at midnight.

Rold Ravenshield: Should you wish to save your sister, a man will meet you at the table nearest the Cellar door in the Drunkards Head tavern at midnight.

Yarra Awerick: A harrowing journey awaits you, your path strewn with foes far worse than the occasional wolf.  Your scythe is called to war, a war that only stands a chance of being won for humanity should you take up arms.  Come to the Drunkards Head tavern at midnight and take a seat at the table nearest the cellar

As midnight approaches and the Drunkards Head tavern empties of it’s patrons, the townsfolk too tired to even make an effort at a night of revelry, four figures of different origin make their way to the dimly lit building.

The Bearers of Flame

The Guild:
From time immemorial, the guild has stood as a bastion of hope for the weak and defenseless, driven by the courage of brave souls willing to risk oblivion so that everyone else might live to see one more day.  It was on the backs of these brave men and women that the empire of the sun spread its reach across the continent, driving back the darkness til all that had remained was myths and children’s stories.  For a few generations light was a constant and life thrived under the loving glow of father Sun while The Guild slowly faded into myth along with the monsters that it hunted.  Though, like all things time moves on and erodes away all that man achieves and things from history forgotten are dredged from the depths.

Current Day:
It’s been five years now since the sun began to wane and rarely does his light manage to break through the Tenebris fog that chokes down across the empire.  People hurry down the streets in thick cloaks, silently shuffling forwards in a futile attempt to forget that the world seems darker, and more devoid of color with each passing day.  In the woods and withering fields, strange sounds can be heard echoing as dark shapes flit at the edges of vision.  With this creeping darkness however, certain people wake feverishly each night feeling a calling that promises salvation and each morning they are healthier and stronger, power of their will to live feeding them while the world starves.  You are one of these few, and last night on your way home did you see a poster drawn in fabulously colored ink requesting the attendance of the people named upon it at the local tavern this coming evening.  As you went closer, it became clear that your name was emblazed upon the vellum in golden ink that burns with the light of the sun now lost.

The Town of Duskstar:
An agriculture town by trade, Duskstar sits around the river Briem.  It’s central houses are old but modest, and walls of time cured wood surround the town proper.  Past that farms stretch out a half day's walking distance before they give way to wild forest.  In past years it was a center of trade activity for the hunters and woodsmen who came to trade furs and meat for fruit and vegetable, as well as with the river barge traders who would frequent the Duskstar markets.  Now all that comes from the woods are occasional road-weary people who`s very skin is grey with fear and their eyes are dark with loss while down the river shattered barges float mixed rarely with bloated bodies face down in the slow moving water.  Though with nowhere to go, the people of Duskstar trudge onwards as they replace the once lush fields of green with toxic smelling mushrooms that seem to move when nobody's looking and desperate souls brave the woods in hope of returning with a meal of meat that was already rotting before it was caught.

Today is the last day you will go about your life normally. After this, things will change, for better or for worse. Should you be strong in the coming years, you may just bring about a brighter future for us all. But while this change is inevitable, the future is not yet so secure. How far would you go, stranger? And what will it cost you?

Religion
In antiquity homage was paid to the locale spirits or greater monsters.  Myth holds that many would sacrifice food, valuables and even their enemies to the most prominent of locale powers and as such those powers in turn grew stronger.  Eventually however the Guilds-men rose up and in their struggle to rid the land of evil slew many of the peoples religious figureheads.  Initially they were reviled and chased out of the towns for the turmoil they brought though in time the people came to realize that their lives were better without the looming fear of pleasing the fickle creatures they once called gods.
For modern times, there are still remote cults who worship dead myths as their deities though the most commonly accepted religion in the civilized world is the Temple of Light.  It's priests and followers build grand structures of glass and stone that shine beautifully in day, and even in this age of darkness seem to have an illuminating light about them.  The temple's teachings are based strongly around upstanding morals and helping their fellow man, in turn they immortalize blessed people as saints, and worship icons that stand as symbols of good and hope.
Otherwise there is a large number of other minor religions that vary wildly from town to town.  Duskstar itself has a popular following of the cult of aether who believe that those who strive to be the best in their chosen path of life will be raised to live in the night sky as stars.  In turn, it's priests gather fortunes from the night sky and claim it to be guidance from the pillars of society past.
(Atheism is also accepted broadly and many various orders, knighthoods and sects spring up frequently with their own take on the idea of the human soul.  Basically you can describe your own beliefs if you like and no one would really look at you sideways though worshipers of other ideology may frequently try and debate the differences with you.)

Figured we could use an OOC thread to stop cluttering up the IC thread.  It'll also help me formulate/discuss rules a bit easier.

NPC's Aboard:
Mac-Disgruntled self repairing automaton, provides basic labor support and claims to handle maintenance though he is lacking most of what he needs to conduct actual repairs.

He-Who-Touches-Clouds: An insectiod alien that has control over multicolored crystalline structures which fluctuate in their magnetic power based on the frequency at which he sings.  Relatively intelligent but very unused to modern technology.  He can fly from his own power in many environments, including space by changing the way parts of his crystal cloud interact with one another and the space around them.

So since the voting was split between shadowrun and dnd5e with slightly more interest from me as a gm in Shadowrun, that's what we'll be doing barring anyone changing their minds now :P

Still open to more players, will take up to 6 people. (With 4 tentative yes's so far.)

Will update with more information soonish.

    Intro

Humanity has always been driven to explore the unknown, reaching out to grasp at that which is out of reach.  It is a well spoken about trait that many humans pride themselves on, what however is rarely less spoken about is the blood thirst that accompanies this driving urge to explore.  Throughout history humans have passed accomplishments that allowed them to explore previously unreachable locations and very often there are those who go to these places to hunt the deadly and unknown.  You are one such person who in ages past would be known as a Big Game hunter now your official title is Xenos Poacher a crime that carries immense penalties and lucrative rewards to the courageous and lucky.  You and a small group of like minded individuals, on a rickety old blockade runner space ship set off into the unknown reaches of the universe in hopes of challenging your shooting, fighting and trapping skills in the hopes of bagging a rare specimen that collectors will pay a worlds ransom for.  Contending with unknown foes, conditions and even the law enforcement of your own people will you make it big or die in the cold reaches of deep space?

    GM Notes
  Using a d20 for rolls.

This system will be a major work in progress, I apologize in advance as i change mechanics during the game.  What I am attempting to build is a sort of sci-fi monster hunter style system that will work with both massive creatures as well as many small elusive ones, consider this more of a test than anything.  On that note I appreciate feedback greatly as it will serve to make everything better.

Four players for now to keep the work a bit lighter, but as the mechanics get sorted out I will gladly take on more players.  My hopes is to get it fluid enough to allow for Fire Emblem on Forums level players and battles.

Inspiration Drawn from: Traveller RPG, Monster Hunter, Xcom, Wh40k and a myriad of other fantasy and sci-fi sources.

Intro
The pebbles clattered down the path around you as you hurried down to the river, the old woods road had been in desperate need of repair since before your father was born and since only a small child like you could safely take it's crumbling way through the forest anymore it had become a sort of secret of yours.  Running with excitement as the river-pool came into site you only just skidded to a stop before it's muddy banks.  Today was dad's birthday and he had said before that the crawdads you catch here are his favorite meal so you had snuck off in the early morning to try and surprise him before he came back from the fields for lunch.

On this early morning, mist still hanging in the air you climbed into the frigid water, wooden pail in hand and grabbed quickly with small hands at the shelled creatures fleeing before you.  Gleeful at such a haul you failed to notice the dark shapes moving through the old forest past you back towards the town, their bobbing torches held overhead turning the forest in an almost beautiful copy of the night sky.  Your own splashing feet masking the sound of iron boots falling on the moss of forest floor and the cracking of branches that sounded like millions of splitting bones from far away.  Just the night before mother had told you tales of Hero's grand and bold, that purged the lands in which your people lived of all things foul and wicked.  "That's why," she said "We live without fear beneath the sun among the fields and flowers, those Hero's souls still live in our woods to protect us to this day from the vile beings from the outer lands."
"Mom," you had asked "can I be a hero one day?"
She shook her head and laughed, "My child there's nothing left to fight, we have no need for guards and heroes anymore.  But tell you what, if you're a really good little mite than one day, when you aren't so little, we'll give you your Great Grandpa's weapon.  That way, if you ever need put down the plow and hoe in defense of our lands you will have the weapon of the greatest hero of all."  At this you fell asleep with a smile on your face, dreaming dreams of slaying dragons and rescuing peoples from all things wicked.  Now as your subconscious heard the sound of an army on the march instead of alerting your young self it instead conjured up grand day dreams.

Hours later, as you climbed back up the old road homewards with a bucket overflowing in crawling crawdads almost ready for your dad's special dinner you smelt the ash on the wind.  Assuming you were late for dinner you hurried on your young legs through the woods and emerged among the tall grasses and flowers on the outer edges of your village.

At least, it used to be the outer edges of your village;Smoke billowed through the sky from homes, barns and fields alike.  There was no sound of the dying, none had been left alive to cry out, only the crackling of the wood and straw that was once home to you.  As smoke washed over you, if an outside observer had been watching they would off seen a withered old man with sunken face and hands standing with his hand on your shoulder for a brief moment, his long beard hanging down and head bowed in sadness.  You freeze by indecision... and then what do you do young one?

Rules:
Anyone can suggest actions, though multiple people suggesting the same action will be not the only factor in deciding what happens.  If an action is vastly out of character:IE 'I slit my own throat.' it will be ignored regardless of how many people suggest it.  Otherwise somewhat out of character actions will still be taken if popular as it is a 'suggestion game'.

Otherwise, not really any rules.  Just don't suggest a huge list of actions at the same time as it does take time to write things up for me hahaha.

Magic exists but is out of practice, same for clerical abilities and divine powers.  Even the art of sword fighting and archery is largely lost excepting occasional recreational competitions, this world has not known strife for many, many years.

The Races
Human:Short lived ambitious creatures these, they strive to get as much done in their few years as possible.  Courageous to a fault as well, many of the Heroes of old came from this race as death seems to be almost welcome should it be achieved heroically.

Dwarf:A people without a true home, they dislike the sun and spend much of their long lives underground toiling away.  It is said in one of the tales from the Age of the Dark that the dwarves once had a massive underground nation that was buried in a series of earthquakes that shattered apart the world itself in huge tears.  This in turn unleashed many horrors there-to unknown and as such many believe that the dwarves unleashed the darkness on purpose.  The dwarves are stocky, irritable and strong.  Dwarf heroes are unknown to the other races but the dwarves have long legacies of great warriors that are kept to their own peoples and tribes.  Since the great earthquakes the dwarfs have been forced to get by in human towns, unable to mine deep enough to see if their nation survived as the ground can no longer support their tunnels and collapses back in, content to keep her secrets.

Half-Elves:True elves fled from the world with the ending of the age of darkness, it is said that once the human nations finished purging the dark and vile they turned on the realms of the fey.  Looking for all the world like skinny humans, they live but twice a humans lifespan, true immortality lost with their ancestor's race.  Still persecuted in some parts, they make their way living in human settlements as naturalistic healers and hunters.  Rare half elf heroes make appearances in human tales but quite frequently they are seen as a far too passive people, content to live their long lives in quite and solitude.

Character Creation:As per suggestion games there will only be one main character that everyone controls here you the people get to decide who that one is!

Name:

Age:(between the ages of 6 and 12 for the purpose of starting this game.  You'll likely grow up as it progresses so don't think starting really young is a major limitation.)

Gender:

Race:Choose one of three above unless a different race is requested by overwhelming vote. (keep it fantasy though, no zombies or cyborgs please as well certain 'evil' races are not accepted)

The Weapon your Great Grandfather wielded against the darkness:(make something up from the categories of melee weapons, ranged weapons, magical weapons, or a divine blessing.  For magic and divine blessings it would be but one of the powers he once wielded eg: Healing, fireballs, lightening, Spears of stone.)

Ambitions:(basically what your character dreams of becoming one day, it can be something mundane or extraordinary.)

Fears:(what your nightmares are, same thing as above for that.)
*For each great ambition you must have one fear, no one is perfect.

Inventory: Damp, dirty children's clothes.
Bucket full of Crawdads

*post what you would like as your character and an initial action.

In 2020 you -volunteered- for a cyro-stasis experiment to be carried out indefinitely along with a large number of other volunteers from all walks of life.  Some of you were legitimate volunteers, whilst others were abducted, taken from maximum security prisons or tricked into the experiment.  Either way as the glass and steel doors closed above your body, and the white freezing gasses trickled up your legs you never thought to see the light of day again.

What seems like a blink later however to you, your eyes open on a cracked and dirty version of what was just before you as warning sirens blare loudly into your ears.  A helpful heads up display informs you that the cyro-stasis facility is running out of power as the backup nuclear power plant is melting down.  A few seconds later you are forcefully ejected from the stasis pod into a pile of debris and cloud of dust.  Looking around you see corpses, rotting dust and 4 other living people get ejected from the rest of the pods around the room.  It seems that of the 100 people forced into the experiment a mere 5 of you have survived though you know not what time or world you find yourselves in now.

Each of you are wearing nothing but a medical gown and bracelet with your name and a few other identifying features:

World Background:In recent years before you entered into cyro-stasis, the worlds nations had begun a manic race in technological innovations and research.  All was being sacrificed in the bid for a greater technological edge over the other nations and companies, people were killed and torn apart in attempts to make human-machine hybrids, and numerous groups of unwilling people were launched into space in half-hearted attempts at colonizing the moon and other celestial bodies.  The common people were terrified of the rapid race towards a technological future that seems to have been started from paranoia and greed.  What happened past this point however is as such lost to your knowledge as you were frozen for a currently unknown number of years.

Perhaps with time you will be able to reconstruct the history of the world you left behind, but for now you shall merely need to adapt and survive.

Taking 5 players to start, your first objective of course would be to grab anything useful you can carry and escape the facility before the nuclear power plant melts down.  The game itself will be turn based, with some RTD/RPG aspects with stats and rolls being used though hidden.  I shall describe outcomes from your actions after everyone has posted a turn in bold and a color if you like.

Turn style information:
Free actions:
Talking with each other, and examining your surroundings/objects quickly are all free inter-turn actions.
Reloading weaponry, eating a quick snack, drinking something and reading a map/brochure are also free actions but may be limited somewhat.

Non-combat turns:
What you are intending to do can take 1-2 minutes:Re: explore the room you are in, head down a hallway, do quick repairs on something, eat a full meal.

Combat:Turns would be a few seconds worth of action aka:Dive into a crouch behind cover, fire a gun at something a couple times depending on the weapon, throw a grenade, swing a melee weapon, tackle someone ect ect.

Overnight-Downtime turns:These are a couple hours worth of action that you can take when in a safe place such as a campsite.  The actions would be things like :get a few hours sleep or rest, read a book, carefully repair or construct an object, cook and cure food for long term storage, ect.:

If you are in combat or downtime status I shall state it at the end of the previous turn.

"Greetings newly appointed/cloned/reassigned Troubleshooter and welcome to the glorious world of Trouble Shooting!  Failure to make sufficient glory is treason.  On the infinite wisdom of friend computer, you are tasked with rooting out and destroying the final enemies of Alpha Complex; victory is near TroubleShooter, those who say otherwise are commie mutant traitors to Alpha Complex.

In the case that you are recently cloned/brain-scrubbed/an imbecile, following will be a short introduction and history on Alpha Complex so that you feel happy and excited to begin your career protecting Alpha Complex.  Those found to be insufficiently happy during the short introduction and history on Alpha Complex will be injected with GLEEMAX via spinally inserted needles.

A pre-recorded black and white video begins playing, the music is cheesy and the film has moth holes leaving gaps in the imagery.  ((Opening on a large gleaming city beneath a brilliantly shining glass dome, with hover cars and robotic dogs can be seen.  A banner underneath reads ALPHA COMPLEX!))  Salutations lucky human, you have been chosen for the state of the art ALPHA COMPLEX security dome.  The impending war with the Communists has caused the construction of your new, glorious home.  It is complete with state of the art memomax mental transfer facilities which keep your consciousness alive and thriving for generation after generation of body which we have so generously stored on ice for you in the meantime.  The glass dome will allow you sunlight and a view on the impending nuclear wasteland until such a time as Earth is habitable once more!  However citizen, leaving will be hard as we have provided you with every luxery and amenity known to man, all covered by FRIEND COMPUTER!

((The imagery shifts to that of a gigantic, wire covered golden cube suspended in liquid.)) Friend Computer is a state of the art (buzzing and the video skips)

That concludes our tour of Alpha Complex, enjoy your eternal stay.

((A secondary video begins playing showing the labyrinthine metal corridors and boiling food vats that you know to be Alpha Complex.)) Greetings -above clearance level- Friend Computer, in the years following deemed it far better for us to live beneath ground as the glass dome was causing sunburns.  As such in Friend Computer's infinite wisdom and care we are now blessed to live far below the earth, safe from all harm.  You are, as you probably guessed not the consciousness of those mentioned in the previous video, they were found to be entirely COMMUNISTS. Gasping is recommended but not necessary.  Instead, you are a clone.. of a clone of a clone who's genetic template was given the Friend Computer seal of approval.  As well each other person in Alpha Complex is so designed by Friend Computer, unfortunately Commie Mutant Traitors have been working against Friend Computers loving guidance and have such subverted the minds and bodies of Alpha Complex Citizens.  This is theft, and as such you -redacted- must -redacted- all.  Hopefully this makes your duties perfectly clear, enjoy service.

Your tutorial videos end, and you are moved to the brand new RED CLEARANCE living quarters, along with a gift from friend computer; a RED delicious apple.  So begins your and 5 other's glorious careers in service to Alpha Complex, make me proud Citizen!"

However, as the sedatives slowly wore off for the first time you saw Alpha Complex outside of the haze of happy drugs and behavior medication.  Everything was suddenly a lot less okay than you had thought, the apple was rotten metaphorically and literally.  The group you had previously been attending meetings for, you suddenly realized was a society, one of the traitorous groups which warranted immediate execution.  However, despite this revelation you felt the need to stay in the society and that was when a second revelation hit you;  You were a mutant, previously the powers of which you had thought to be hallucinations caused by Happy-Nite drops were real... and also marked you for immediate execution (Unless you registered them immediately... which would likely give many people reason to want you dead anyways.)

As you sat digesting these internal revelations another thought struck you, you were a troubleshooter... in a room with 5 other troubleshooters... all who's job was to kill people like you and ensure that your genetic template was wiped from existence.

Roleplaying Book Download:Paranoia XP  The mode we are Playing is Straight though slightly lighter for those who read the book.  Not reading the book is Treason.
Don't read any more than the player section of the book please.

Hey all, long time gm here looking to run a new campaign for a group of interested players.  The game system we'd be doing is of course Pathfinder as stated above.

I'd be gm'ing it on roll20.net every sunday at 6pm est, and also on a mumble server so that we can talk OOC through voice.  (or text there too if you don't want to talk yourself, that's okay I just prefer being able to explain rules and what not through voice instead of text.)

All the IC play, and the game itself would be done as said through roll20.

About the campaign:
The starting characters should be generated at level 3 using a 15 point buy system as shown on http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ under character creation and using 3000 gp.
Character sheets should be made on http://www.myth-weavers.com/ and then the link pm'ed to me or posted here as per personal preference.
I'm currently allowing core races, with others being considered if valid reasons/backstories are presented.
For the first campaign I would also like you to use core classes, base classes (no gunslingers please as I'd like to keep it more old fantasy) and hybrid classes.
The setting will take place in normal pathfinder lore but a unique world, for a campaign driver you are a new group of people who have decided to embark on the road of adventurers and are only just starting your journey.

Initially I will be taking 4 players (possibly 5 but I have a friend from my old gaming group who may join.)  If enough people show interest I can also run a secondary game on another day of the week as I quite like gm'ing and don't have a whole lot else to do hahah.

Character creation and campaign ideas/settings are up for discussion however and if enough people want to run a higher level game, different sort of pathfinder game or even a different system then we definitely can.

More information to be updated here as people ask questions or there's more to say.  I look forward to peoples responses/interest :D

Mutagen-A Suggestion Game
You've done all the escape drills before, but when that alarm went off in the middle of the night you knew that it was for real.  Something about hearing screaming even before someone can sound the evacuation alarm really gave it away.  Calmly you got out of your sleeping pod, got dressed and even brushed your teeth for the sake of tradition.  Glancing at the wall you see that only the general alarm light is on, and shaking your head you refuse to imagine what is happening outside your tightly locked private room.
The facility in question, above ground a high security prison for the condemned and below ground a sprawling research lab.  The people in the cells up above awaiting what they think is execution, or just until they die of old age, while below people working to turn human psychopaths into monsters in every sense of the word.  The facility that you've worked at for a good part of your life was funded at the most basic level to create drugs that would affect a living beings genetic structure and outer form even after maturity was reached.  The applications have ranged from treating downs syndrome to making hybrid pets for billionaires; but the real money maker was the weapons project.  The Mutagen project, a splash of playing god with a sprinkling of bio-terrorism, it was only a few months ago when they managed to get the virus to contaminate other specimen's and the fatality rate was still near the 50% mark.  Judging by the bloodcurdling screams for help, you're guessing it's not the eternal puppy project that's caused the alarm and it's only a matter of time before someone triggers the self destruct.
Taking one last glance around your home and prison, you ready yourself to try and make for the surface before something rips you to shreds or the facility goes up in flames.
---["First though, are you male or female?   Oh, and for the sake of this record what is your name?  Oh for god sake don't give me that damned look, you know it's hard for us humans to tell these days.   Also, just for history's sake, what was your job at the facility?"]

**There's going to only be one character for now, and his actions will be decided by the hivemind of players ((anyone can post and play or suggest actions!  Don't be shy!))  But as we go through the game if a behavioral norm starts to show up for the playerbase (we decide to execute children and eat the dead on a regular basis or some such nonsense)  I will be less likely to take the 'go dance in a field of flowers' suggestion.  Or you know, the other way round.

Roll To Dodge / Hunted Magi -Turn 7
« on: February 05, 2013, 02:37:31 am »
Hunted Magi

It is the year 1340, and all across the country hatred towards all things magical has begun to grow. Those suspected of practicing magic are being named as daemons or witches.  Men, women, and children are dragged from their homes by the inquisition and burned at the stake, or drowned among other punishments. Normally, you would have only been mildly worried at this state of affairs, having been free of any association with anything that could be considered magic... That is, until yesterday.  It was the fall harvest festival and you, with a group of other young adults, decided that it would be far more interesting to party in the burned out ruins near the outskirts of the village.  Among other nefarious myths, local legend states that hundreds of years ago, there stood the home of a powerful warlock who had ravaged the surrounding lands with all manner of foul beasts, and afflicted the local population with terrifying curses. The night wore on, and the group (including you) became progressively inebriated, eventually blacking out some time around midnight.

You awake with a start the next morning, finding yourself back in your home. However, your sleep was plagued by horrific images, and voices whispering in the dark as you slept.  As you lurch out of bed, something falls to the floor and a pained shock ripples in the pit of your stomach.  Reaching for the object, your hand crackles with energy as it snaps back into your grasp.  Terrified, you attempt to throw it away from you, but can't bring yourself to get rid of it.  In a panic, you attempt to throw it with all your might into the fireplace. Instead, you see a flash and hear a bang before falling backwards unconscious. Waking a few hours later, you are forced to begin your new life as a Mage. Know that you will be hunted until you can get rid of the object, or learn how to control it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You start off in the town of Rutsett, in the county of Surwall.  The country is called Waarwigh, the kings name is King Rendal III to your latest knowledge.

Rutsett;A small village of a few hundred people in the foothills of a large mountain.  A stream flows nearby but tends to overflow in the spring so there is no development in it's vicinity.  Otherwise there is forest on three sides and a mountain on the other.  A single road leads away from the village off through the forest, though no one travels the road much and merchants are so rare as to be nearly non-existent.  The forest is reputed to be evil, as well as the mountain.  There is a single small church with a solitary priest.  A blacksmith who mines and smelts his own iron from the mountain, a tanner, some sheep herders nearby, an inn that is mostly just a local drinking place and a general store that operates on a trade basis.  Otherwise the people living nearby and in the village make and grow everything they need to survive.  It is an exceptionally cut off town, having not even had a tax collector pass by in nearly a decade.  The last person who passed by brought news of the extreme actions the inquisition had been taking, he was at the village nearly a year ago.

Ancient Ruins;Known to only a few people in the village, it is regarded as a cursed place having many dark and terrible stories surrounding it's existence.  This is where you found your object of power.  Burnt stones and crumbled buildings in a valley on the side of the mountain, nearly a 5 hour walk through foothills from the village of Rutsett.

Roll To Dodge / War of the Mutants-Fighters of Humanity Turn 4
« on: November 16, 2011, 05:06:02 pm »
War of the Mutant's

Story:
A few years before a terrorist group known as The Chaos, released a horrible concoction of viruses and toxins upon the world that was designed to cause unpredictable and rapid mutations within all living matter.  Even worse was the world powers reaction to it, which caused nations to declare war upon anyone they thought could be involved and as the armies marched to foreign soils and countries in the hopes of controlling a vital resource named Agent P, whose chemical properties are largely a mystery except that it is the only thing known to prevent madness as the mutations progressed.
Certain people had innate traits that allowed them to resist the mutagen's effects, at least for a time, but as more people were killed by the bands of horrifying and often bloodthirsty mutants that wandered the land and the government crumbled into the dust, hope began to seem futile.  Through sheer luck a few bands of people have survived.
Within the last few months however the mutants have become only one of many problems, with no organized society food and other essentials are becoming extremely rare.  Worse to that however is what has happened to the atmosphere from a yet unknown source, everyday the amount of light that gets through the growing clouds is growing less and less, while it rains more all the time.  The rain itself is quite acidic so anything that is left in the ruined cities quickly rusts or rots to uselessness.
Your town was lucky, it had a high number of people with the trait that prevented madness.  Though other problems arise daily and you have been asked to deal with them.  Whether you choose to fight with lead or your mutant traits, the only hope for a safe future relies on people like you.
