DF General Discussion / Last stands of epic Perportion
« on: February 13, 2010, 01:35:42 pm »
Basically this is a thread where you can give a synopsis of your most impressive last stands against the hordes of darkness.
My one is on Dig Deeper, where my initial seven where seiged by orcs 4 times in a row, with nothing more then a axe and a bone crossbow with bone bolts to defend the fortress.  My miner got mangled, and spent 2 years in bed during many battles, nearly starving and dieing of dehydration during seiges while the water was inaccessible, my herbalist got run down by a group of orcs, before taking out 3 single handed, with no weapons (don't ask me how, cause I have no clue myself). My crossbowman/planter got shot through a fortification by an elite marksorc, and by the second seige all that was left was my woodcutter, another planter, and the mangeled (now only broken) miner. The planter grabbed the last crossbow, took down 35 orcs (so far) and the woodcutter cut a path through about 20.  They both still live, but I can't see it lasting longer, since all caravans have been killed by the orcs and I'm at war with the humans now too.

Welcome to DiscWorld

A place where science has no rule, magic is as common as sand is in a desert, and Heroes are abundant.  Where gods have an all too real sway, and atheists lives are extremely short.  A place where even it's inhabitants are surprised daily of the imagination their creator had when he made the world.  Oh, and the world is supported by 4 elephants on the back of a giant turtle flying through space.

Rules, the nasty things that tend to take up time and get in the way of fun:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Before your lost soul is a deep glowing pit, the wind wishpers in your ear, telling you the last words of millions "Are you sure those mushrooms were edible I feel a bit....."  "Naw it's fine to wear plate mail in a lightning storm" "It's just a scratch...." and the most popular "I don't believe in gods!  Bzzt"  You decide to risk it and jump, it would be hard to say that you fell through different dimensions on the way there, that there was a loud pop or that it was scary... in all truthfulness the fall was short and kinda fun.  From behind you, you can hear " OH DAMN THERE GOES ANOTHER ONE."

Your soul lands in some poor chap's head, it seems as though you are looking through two windows when you are in fact inside his head.... what are you:

DF Gameplay Questions / The dungeon master!!!
« on: October 14, 2009, 06:52:40 pm »
Well I have only ever got the dungeon master once, and it's starting to bug me, I've had over 100 dwarves, huge export to the capital and an underground river, all the wiki says you need.  My question is, does it have to be a river or stream above ground, do under ground rivers not count, cause I have unearthed it, got the message, but never got the dungeon master.  So does it have to be an above ground river or a magma pipe for him to come?

SOOO, I've wanted to be in a succession game for awhile now, but due to my not checking enough I've missed every new one for the past month.  We will be using a folder I custom modded to include various things, dig deeper, orc's, two of the own creation (dagger's, basically cultist dwarves real pain in the ass the first year or two, been known to siege just after the first caravan, easy to kill though  Has Improved bows like the elves, so they are killers if they have marksman.  Tcho Tcho, made em for the Cthulu mod.)
What I need from you guys is who wants to go second, how long we should make the turns, where we should embark, names of dwarves ect.

Basic Succession rules, each person gets a dwarf and they have the fort for a set amount of time,   I'm thinking we start somewhere with flux, HFS, underground river, magma pipe (optional, though any good fort needs one), sand (for those damn mooded glass makers) and iron, trees and above ground rivers optional.

Current turn order:
Kilakan:
Rosedrake
Confusticator
HFS, we are screwed if he finds the hidden fun pit.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / My country is better!
« on: September 26, 2009, 11:40:56 am »
I just had a good idea for a forum game, basically you state where you live, whether it's a town, a province (or state) or a country then say why it's better then the person above you, sorta like the game you are banned but differnt.... anyways here's an example
I'm from Canada, it's better because our flag is a freaking plant so we are always allied with the elves.

Reply could be:

I'm from California, It's better cause in winter you can actually see past your nose, since there's no snow!

*kinda like that but feel free to say whatever you want!

to start:

I'm from Nova Scotia, It's better because our provinces name actually means something, and I bet you don't know what it is.

Roll To Dodge / F.T.W. We are really screwed.
« on: September 15, 2009, 04:02:12 pm »
One night you were all sitting in Jack's (me) basement playing a round of poker when I said, hey guys you know what, I just had the greatest idea, why don't we go rob a convince store?  Being a little drunk we set off and what do you know, the next morning we had actually done it and succeeded.  This got us a little pumped-up and the next night we did it again.  By now we each had made a thousand dollars so I said, hey guys you know that run-down place, in up the street (we are in a city btw), well I went in there awhile ago and they were selling guns, explosives, illegal drugs and lock-pick manuals.  After a few minutes of discussing we set off to buy some stuff with our stolen money, mostly so we could make more money.  That brings us to the sign-up sheet:
Name:
Gender:
Age:(between 20-45)
Weight:
Unique Traits:(for example, body-builder, computer whiz, gun-nut, ect. be creative. oh and two people can't have the same trait so let's not all be super-genius, mega-athletic, ex-army, k?)
If you could have two super powers what would they be:
Items:(you have the stolen $1000 dollars for this)

Oh and there's no ammo, though epic failing a shot may break the gun.  You also don't have to reload.  But there is a use-limit on things like grenades, c4, missiles, ect.

*weapons and armor have a power-rating, only I know what this does but generally the higher the better. Also use logic, you can't snipe someone with a pistol without extreme modifiers.

Black-market:
.44 magnum(2)-$250
Colt Detective .38(1) (easily hidden due to it being small):$200
Glock(1.5):$200
Scoped Hunting Rifle (4)$350
Semi-automatic rifle (5) $450
Double barreled shotgun (6)$450
Semi-automatic shotgun (5.5)$450

Riot Helmet(1)$100
Riot Armor(1)$100
Bullet proof helmet(2)$200
Bullet proof armor(2)$200

Hackers guide to fun $150
How to fix your gun $150
Safe-cracker and lock-picker's guide $150
The explosive guide to explosives $150
The on the go medic's guide $150
Comic book, unknown effects $100
DnD users book, unknown effects $100

Med kit 10 uses $100
Med pack 2 uses, easy to use $50
Steroids 1 use, permanent $50

Things like super powers, magic, and special abilities may or may not be able to be gotten, the only way to find out is to try.

So have fun and kill some guys will ya, OH and I will be in the game, and I can be killed.
Game list:
 Name: Punkter
Gender: Male
Age:32
Weight: GuessIt
Unique Traits:Gun-Crazy Dude
If you could have two super powers what would they be: Bullet Proof skin and ability to turn anything into a usable gun and ammo.
Items: I'll buy the semi-auto rifle, colt detective, comic book, riot helmet, and a medkit, $50

Name: Benjamin Davids
Gender: Male
Age:43
Weight: 155 lbs
Unique Traits: Ex-cosmetic surgeon. Ex-consulting physician. Ex-high-school nurse.
If you could have two super powers what would they be: The ability to stay employed, the ability to cause others to reconsider their life choices.
Items:
"The On-The-Go Medic's Guide",
3x Med Kits,
550 dollars.

« on: September 05, 2009, 08:07:58 pm »
Basically, this is gonna be a RTD/Survival thing.

He is a miner dwarf who accidentally caused a cave-in the killed off the other miners, you are now lost in the mines with only you pick, and standard issue Pig-tail work outfit. oh and for the purpose of this RTD you can't mine a wall unless I say it's cracked.
You can learn special non-DF based spells, fighting ect.  Many items will be DF based though, same with creatures.

East and West are rock walls.
To the South is a dark passageway
