Roll To Dodge / The Ages of Random RTD Turn 3, age Norse, Jet's likes to TK
« on: September 01, 2009, 09:59:54 am »
I've got this idea of an RTD that you get say 2 to 4 quests per "age" and when you complete them the game skips ahead a few hundred years.  What the future will be like is affect by what you did in the previous ages.  I'd like this to start around Norse times, then go to early dark ages, then the middle of the dark ages, late dark ages, early iron age, mid iron age, late iron age, modern, slight future, far future, distant future.
    Open to suggestions.
    Sign-ups are now I'd like
 Name:
 Age (years old)
 Bio:

Basically in each new age your a reincarnate of your previous self, we will know everything our last selves knew and have all their abilities, if you get an item that is "Soulbound" to your character, your reincarnate will have it.

Players:
1.Runar
2.Hrotgar
3.Fireheart
4.Sven
5.Ragnar
6.Diakron (what sort of Norse name is that ?!?!?!?)

Waiting:
1.
2.
3.
4.

Current Age: Before life began.

Basic RTD rules. Oh and if you want to learn any magics you will  have to learn it before the late dark ages.  After that you can train but can't learn new ones.  You can also only learn skills associated with each age, like blacksmithing in the dark ages, mechanics in the iron ages, nano-tech in future ages.

Roll To Dodge / Tournament of Pain RTD The Gm has been killed.
« on: August 30, 2009, 12:19:45 pm »
The basic story is:
You were enjoying life until the king demanded that a tournament be created, it's winner will be given one of whatever they want.  Intrigued by the idea of winning your most precious wish you set off to join the tournament.  When you got to the sign-up booth a very large man knocked you unconscious.  A few hours later you wake up in a dark cell.  On the floor is the sign-up sheet and a note.  The note says "By decree of the king you have been chosen to participate in the Tournament of pain, each round you win will bring you closer to freedom.  After each match you will win gold, which can be used to buy better equipment, pay for a non-lethal training round, or heal those oh-so-painful wounds.  Remember to Have Fun."

The Sign-up sheet reads:
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Previous Job:
Any mental conditions you may have:

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / The easiest Demon ever
« on: August 10, 2009, 08:02:01 pm »
ok so I finally found the demon pit after searching the entire pit and by then I had a really large army so I figured I'd let the demons spawn. I waited a full year before the "demons have emerged from the pit" message came up and when I checked the unit list there was only one and it was the "Demon" demon no smaller frog demons of Spirts of fire that was it.  When I checked the wiki it said you could tell what demons would spawn from what was in the pit. Mine had the items for all the types of demons, filth, ashes, unknown substance,  mud, and hugggge amounts of caged people.  So is that it for me or do the demons come in waves and not just one large attack? have I found something wrong withthe wiki?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / The infinity loop
« on: August 10, 2009, 05:42:40 pm »
ok so my blacksmith decides o become possessed and what does he grab admantite. of course he goes for the rarest metal for something that can't be weapon or armor due to him only having metal working.  What he made was a animal trap.... a freaking animal trap but heres the kicker it has an image of itself on it. Which means the image of it has an image of it that has an image of it and so on for infinity.  I hate when DF gets into an infinite loop.....

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / When Sieges go wrong
« on: August 06, 2009, 06:29:47 pm »
Ok so I tried a bit of modding and I caused a siege to come at 7000 wealth on my first early summer. There was 10 spearmen and 4 wrestlers. I am surprised at the lack of diversity and pissed that they are all really skilled. Locked myself inside (only 7 dwarves) but the siegers arn't leaving so I really hope my two slightly skilled guys can take them. anyone care to share their tales of horrible un-provoked attacks?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Elf Killing contest
« on: July 23, 2009, 06:03:39 pm »
Ok so I want to start an elf killing contest due to the fact they are widely hated and one of the most annoying humanoids to fight in adventure mode due to all the bows.
There's only gonna be a few rules and here they are:
1. If anyone challenges your claim you must either provide a screen shot or a save game file.
2. Children count even though they are fairly easy.
3. Companions in your party are allowed but their kills don't count.
4.Completely destroying a town so it's Icon changes is worth ten extra kills but you must provide the save game file or a good screen shot.
5. Have fun kill them in odd ways if you can.
 ;D
Have fun and may blood turn the world red.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Biggest Mistakes in the world of DF
« on: June 26, 2009, 08:41:49 pm »
I want to know your biggest goofs/mistake in Fort mode such as caving in a trap to kill goblins only to have it go all the way through your fort.  This will hopefully be an open chat and sort of help line.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Animal guardians
« on: June 25, 2009, 09:44:41 pm »
I have always had a thing for sending waves of dogs after kobalds and the like but recently I managed to get a breeding pair of Giant Desert Scorpions.  I immediately chained them at the entrance and what do you know they tore through at least 10 goblins without being hurt.  Now I am wondering what other animals have people sent against invaders and what effect did they have??
