Too many damn migrants.

I am seriously considering just locking the meeting hall and all forty-something dwarves inside and leave them to die so I can free up some space.

A marksgob ambush just killed one of my legendary hammerdwarves. Now I need a really EVIL torture for him, do you know how long it took to train that guy!?

I'm thinking about putting together a plachinko (sp?) board, where gobs are bridgeapulted off the top and you score points depending on where they land. May have to rig up traps for the higher levels though.
A pachinko machine...with goblins...

Never would've imagined that on my own.

Try making holes, keeping some empty, some full of water, some full of magma, some full of hostile animals, some full of awesome warriors, ect.

20 points for magma pit.

Found the aquifer.

Digging out bedrooms in the glacier. Hope the dwarves have blankets. Oh, wait, they can use their beards...

Lost my two legendary miners who ran into the aquifer and were encased in ice. Their bones are stuck in the wall now, and I can't get them out.

Oh, and migrants. Too many damn migrants. I carve out some bedrooms and another wave arrives. I don't need this many damn migrants. I don't have enough food or anything.

THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS FORT. GO AWAY.

I've been sent fisherdwarves, farmers, metalsmiths...

WHO SENDS THESE MIGRANTS? A BLIND, CRIPPLED, BRAIN-DAMAGED DWARF? (Probably...)

Thanks.

Also, a tip from me: Hire meatshields.

I'm starting a fort in a glacier.

My only problem is that I have no water.

Coulda sworn there was an aquifer somewhere...

Can you really do the zombie thing? If you can, that is awesome.

New "F*** The World" megaproject: Zombie Apocalypse
No, you can't.

Not yet, anyway.

Someday...someday...

Then of course there is always the probability that zombies will escape the holding area and infect your dwarves. Knowing dwarf fortress, it will probably happen easily.
Well, you could just wall off the pit...but the dwarven way is never the safe way. It is the FUN way. And the fun way says: USE A DOOR.

I'm looking forward to the next version, when diseases and 'creature metamorphosis' are implemented in a manner that will hopefully allow for infectious lycanthropy. I'll try rigging up a system to get my werewolves to wound prisoners without killing them, so that once they turn I can tame them and add them to the ranks of my army's warbeasts. What could possibly go wrong? :)
This just gave me an idea, but not werewolves, and it probably won't be added to the game. But it's still an idea.

Zombie arena.

Chuck a goblin into an arena with a zombie beast in it, doesn't matter which. The zombie beast will kill and turn the goblin into a zombie goblin. Throw another goblin in.

When you've got a good horde of zombie goblins, start throwing in more than one at a time.

Perhaps try giving them weapons to give them a sporting chance.

...Hehehehe, a sporting chance...nah, just leave 'em unarmed and naked.

Now, tree, tell me where the elf touched you.

Tree: He...he touched me...down...OH GOD--*cut down by dwarf for bed*

I love this story. I love your style. It makes me smile.

Fort has a dragon.

I have an awesome golden helm.

We found silver.

Life is good.

This isn't my moment, but I call it epic.

Now, I'd just be brutally torn apart by a pack of wolves, human chunks littered the ground around me, and I was dead.

Then the wolves began to attack the carp in the nearby murky pool.

The pack of wolves feircely battled the school of carp (and a pike) in the pond, wolves being dragged into the water only to continue biting and tearing at the fishy monsters. The blue water turned red, and as the carp and wolves tore each other apart, they bled, their organs fell out, and they constantly vomited, the water cleaning away the gunk.

One by one, the wolves were dragged in and ripped to chunks. Carp died, but carp lived.

So this proves that the food chain is: Carp > Wolves > Humans.

Dungeon Master died. Went to funeral. Boring. Didn't like him that much. He was OK. Meh. Least it wasn't worse. Least I don't have to listen to his stories anymore. Least I get my forge back.

Wish I got his hat.

Oh, well.

Goblins.

Better make more bolts.

Maybe smelt down those platinum statues that were raising such a fuss and make platinum bolts...

I'm gonna make an adventurer just to see if something epic will happen for me to post here.

Doubt it, since I suck at adventuring, but I'll try.

A giant cave swallow ripped the throat of a hunter out, and he fell unconscious, bleeding all over the place but taking forever to die. It bogged down my FPS because the "Cancels rest, interrupted by Giant Cave Swallow" messages where coming in over twenty a second. I made another hunter a recruit and sent him over, but he didn't attack the dang bird. So I turned him back into a hunter and he started to hunt. So he started wrestling the giant cave swallow next to the dwarf bleeding all over the place, and they're wrestling on top of the chunk of his throat that got torn out. FPS is still low as hell and the dwarf takes forever to break the bird with his bare hands.

He killed it.

Then the bleeding dwarf immediately died afterwards.

And a guard was struck with melancholy because he was so unhappy with laying in bed with his lower body seriously wounded. So he dragged himself out and started walking/crawling all over the fort 'til he died of thirst (wish he jumped in the well instead just to speed it up).

And I'm currently filliing a room below my dining hall with magma in case I decide to drop all the dwarves into it. The digging killed a legendary miner.

Diary of Caiman - I don't know the date.

Well. A Dungeon Master.

The one noble who does any work. And that work is in the metalworks, the most important job in the whole fortress.

He's a loon, like all Dungeon Master's before him. But, he works, and it's decent quality work.

Hope they give him what he wants. He does seem like a pretty nice guy, once you look past the weird helmet.

But I'll keep my trap shut. Ticking off the mayor would just make my job harder. Probably mandate something we don't have so I'd get smacked around and tossed in jail. Bound by the chains I made.

Nope, don't want that to happen.
