What plants crave!
Oh man, that movie is some truly essential baked viewing.

See, that's the thing, I'd really like to cook up something delicious and get baked, pun intended (he typed from his work computer), but I'm always driving or working or doing something else, and my mandatory drug testing should be happening soon, so I'm holding off, and then it'll be something else and osmething else after that, and before I know it I'll be 60 and wishing I had ever taken something more exciting than paracetamol (which I rarely take, because I believe in keeping it reserve for proper pain, not simple headaches or other mild pains).

Not the Tactical Breach Wizards?
i'm reminded of Eldritch Arsekicking.

I seem to recall that the IG doesnt bother teaching High Gothic to non-officers because there's too many of them to be worth it, seeing as "clog their chainswords with the entrails of your forward positions" is basically a valid strategy, and that most forms of Low Gothic are real difficult to comprehend by other form speakers

Huh, which actually makes me think - does each world localise the Imperial Guardsman's Uplifting Infantry Primer to their own version of Low Gothic, in which case that's a prime source of Heresy right there.  Shame I don't have my heresy-meter image at work.

Time to lower the bar!

Yo' mama's so fat, her phone number has two area codes.

Yo' mama's so fat, Luke Skywalker fucked her in the ass.

Your mother's so fat, I rolled over twice and I was STILL on top of her!

As they say here: "never mix an upper with a downer."
Heh, that reminds me of the "fun" part: since I had drunk "a lot" of alcohol, they couldn't give me painkillers for that leg injury that I actually bailed the party for.

On the bright side, alcohol is effective pain relief, right?

Gridman is ok I guess, it's certainly pretty and well made but I worry it might not have much substance beyond that and monster of the week plot. Tho it's only one episode so we'll see I guess.

I'd like to give a shout out to Gakuen Basara, which is basically Romance of the three kingdoms (the capcom one) but in a high-school setting. I guess it'd help if you knew the characters from the game but even without that it's pretty much a giant hamfest of bigger than life characters chewing the shit out of the scenery over stuff like who gets to use the school playing field.

The only reason i'll watch a non-cyberpunk anime.

Ah, the noble Jaegerbomb.

Yeah, given that I drink very, very little even when I drink at all, I'm not considering my survival, only my enjoyment.

I did not say that.

I said you should know the whys and hows for it being unattainable.  That is the requisite position of knowledge to be able to make reasonable and tractable proposals to improve on the process.

That's fine, but doesn't... really relate to what I said.
P.S. It's also why i'm an idealist communist, but a practical socialist. I acknowledge the present impossibility of ideal communism.

You're forgetting that the two main languages are High Gothic AKA Religious AKA dead latin and has been unchanged for 2000 years and Low Gothic AKA Trade Tongue AKA English and is a random mishmash of every other language around anyway.

Yes, but how many guardsmen or even officers speak High Gothic, and why should we assume that any two versions of Low Gothic are more than passably mutually intelligible?  I can't understand inner-city londoners without effort, and I live on the same landmass, let alone the same star cluster!

Snip

So because we cannot attain perfection, we shouldn't try to strive for it?

I'm sure I'm asking the dumbest question: are energy drinks the cure to drunkenness?

No, but they water alcohol down and replace lost sugars and whatnot after exercising, so you're not pouring alcohol onto a bed of exhaustion.

I don't know myself, having never been drunk, but apparently the split down here is pretty 50/50 on whether tea or energy drinks are best accompaniment to a greasy english breakfast for hangover cure.

Now THAT'S an athame.

Now that's what I call Athame 97!  Packed with the hottest gods!

It's a glucose-imbued fizz fest to which I have formed a mild addiction. Essentially an energy drink.

Drink of choice for larpers down here.

Space Marines are all able to talk the same language, yeah.

For Impguard, chances at least their officers will be able to communicate.

Low Gothic is the common language of the Imperium, but many worlds have their own languages (especially feral worlds) or their dialects are different enough they're not mutually intelligible.

How different is our language to the language we spoke 300 years ago? Ships can take that long or longer to get from place to place.

Looks like the search function got broken. It shows me an error, "Unable to access the search daemon."
