General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O
« on: October 08, 2018, 07:30:49 am »
So apparently I made some waves in a party on the weekend. The rumour is that I drank everyone under the table and that I later had to be carried out of the venue due to that feat.

I'm actually a very moderate drinker and even cheated (using non-alcoholic beverages) in the drinking competition (and didn't actually win), and was carried out because of a leg injury rather than drunkness.

I'm not entirely sure if I should set things straight or just let the rumour spread. Do I want this kind of infamy?

I too cheated in this fashion. I'm essentially tee-total for most of my life, but at a larp thingy this weekend, I had the opportunity to drink.  I spiked my spiced rum/kopparberg/weird sweet slightly sharp thingy with lucozade, and I was winning the drinking game so hard that I was drinking it when I won just to keep my mouth moist.

On the opposite side of the argument - If you believe that something is good and supports the welfare and happiness of the people, and that another thing causes sadness and misery, it's only reasonable to go full-on crusader on the topic.  If people from Birmingham were kidnapping southerners and torturing them for the rest of their natural lives, I wouldn't be able to go "Ah well, there's no one-size-fits-all solution to this problem, better let them get on with it".  I would absolutely do everything in my power to stop it from happening.

I might've written something but it's not my nation, so I guess i'm out. Ah well, back to my previous plan for November - jerking it and crying.

Just in here to say - Toccata, by Sky.  Just brilliant, and the drummer's expression at 3:08 is wonderful.

I meant to ask. Railguns are several sequentially activated electromagnets and a coilgun is just one long curly one right?

Exactly.  Although a railgun can use a single pair of magnets, or plasma, apparently, which is pretty cool.

A sword, huh? Well at least you still have a thumb. :P

My (mild-)Sad: this was to be the second night of an attempt to re-form a healthy sleep pattern, and I dozed off into an accidental nap earlier due to feeling poorly and woke up at around 2300. Well, shit.

Unplanned sleep is better than no sleep, and when you're ill, you shouldn't worry about your normal routines and procedures.

Started playing slither.io, so of course the wifi decided to go to absolute wank for no readily discernible reason.

Curses. I was starting to get big and I heard steps coming towards my office.  Score ruined.

My thumb hurts after I got hit with a sword, and it's a bit achey. Woe is me.

Stale baguettes are already used by the French Army for close quarters combat. Such a brutal weapon.

Where's that SMBC ancestral baguette strip?

Why would anyone dislike müsli

It is literally one of the cornerstones of life

Disliking müsli is saying you dislike fruits and nuts

And what kind of person doesn't like nuts or fruits

Depends on the nuts and the fruits.  Cashew, cherry, apricot - Great.  Plum, kumquat, hazelnut - Hhmmmm.  Raisin, monkeypuzzle, date - The Devil's Arse.

This loud person is the President of the United States of America and has shitty opinions so all Presidents of the USA must be similarly shitty.

JFK wasn't so bad for a shameless slut. And Abraham Lincoln was crazy strong which is irrelevant but awesome. Also George Washington was fucking smart.

I hope you're talking about Geedub the Second, our Spiritual Liege, and painter of ~alright~ portraits.

I stopped playing my tracksuit genestealers after... 2nd ed?  I don't recall exactly, nor do I know where they currently reside. A black cardboard folder/box somewhere, certainly.

DF Suggestions / Re: Better vampires
« on: September 29, 2018, 05:57:22 pm »
What if they had difficulty entering temples depending on the  nature ov the temple?

So they would be nauseated and weakened by entering a temple of a certain degree of sacredness, unable to enter a more sacred temple, and unaffected by a rubbish temple.

The holiness of a temple could be determined by factors such as:

Value of temple + contents
Size of temple (smaller  = concentrated sanctity, or reverse?)
Number of worshippers frequenting temple
Frequency of prayer
Number of priests
Number of dancers
Reputation of temple
Nature of deity
Etc.

In theory, this would be less exploitable, and still get in the whole "can't enter holy places" aspect of vampirism.

This temple is holier than the others because everything inside is made of obsidian. People think vampires are allergic to it, but they're actually allergic to displays of conspicuous wealth.
