Yes, because they get onto the forums and demand stupid features which Toady (armok be with him) puts in because he's good to his players (putting in hotly demanded features early) which ruin my enjoyment of the game and require heavy modification (or unfixable if it's hardcoded) to fix up.

P.S. Chronic retards shouldn't be allowed to play such an awesome game, there's no logic behind it, I'm just a bastard)

Unfortunately the point was made that this would be extremely hard to do. While it seems simple, it's actually quite hard to code the behaviour, but we could at least get a decent approximation.

I think the main turn off would be that intellect is required (intellect and vicious malevolence). The earth is a bit of an intellectual wasteland, and DF is far too awesome for most of the population of WoW players.

I think keeping a community clean of retards is a good thing.

P.S. Fuck precedent. This is a game in which dwarves fight goblins with picks made of adamantine that they killed frog demons to get ahold of, only to lose them to the deadly, deadly carp. Realism is important, but FUN is as well.

I had a load of deer trapped by a tree that grew and trapped loads of them in one tiny inescapable area. They bred despite me having no deer, and when I cut down the tree my hunters went nuts and slaughtered for about a solid year.

Camp followers were common throughout the middle ages in Europe. Bands of people with many different skills would come and make a profit from the needs of armies, and while they might have no way of defending themselves they brought much needed industries.

Hell, look at the three abrahamic religions. They all worship the same god (they say otherwise, but seriously...) but go such different ways about it, and even if you look just at Christianity then you'll see about a billion different ways of worshipping and interpretations.

Siegers making permanent encampments make perfect sense. That's the whole point of a siege! Currently siegers are really just making a quick strike. The point of sieging is to starve everyone out and force a surrender/defeat, but as it is, dwarves can happily sit out most sieges by locking the front gate and having farms within a defended wall. The ability of siegers to come along, set up camp and then build up forces makes perfect sense (at least to me).
