I like. It can be done, but I don't know if toady has specifically implemented this. it could easily be done by using the new code toady is writing and specifying a bunch of immigrants who pick a destination on the world and then repick a new destination the moment they get there.

As the computing power of the machines we play DF on gets more powerful, we will feel the effects of catsplosions less and less until having 100 cats in your fortress will be almost standard. The vile elven plot to bring us to our knees is ultimately doomed!

As it stands, I'm scared to even let more than two cats out of their cages, and any time anything gives birth it goes straight into the cage with the others. Cats spend their entire lives from birth to death in little wooden cages because I'm too scared to let them out to be butchered :D

I once smacked a child across a room, and upon impact he asploded and covered the entire room with little chunks. Strange how most of those blows are to the head. I think my adventurers are playing golf with humans.

I always dig a pillar of stairs into the lowest z-level until I find a material I like and then I make that my main level. Stockpiles go on the surface and workshops are placed inside or outside depending on where I feel like placing them. Channels and walls are always used early on to stop elephants/goblins/kobold thieves from getting in without my say so. These walls extend to the nearest brook/stream and encompass a large swathe of herbs and trees to keep people busy and useful.

These fortresses are more like historical reenactment for the dwarves. Once you abandon the fortress they all fly home to watch TV and create fusion.

Personally I don't think any game should come out of beta! A "final" version has less room for change and adaptation, so what you see is all you'll ever get.
