DF General Discussion / Re: Future of the Fortress: List of Remaining Items
« on: December 09, 2009, 12:06:58 pm »
If I designated a burrow and in it were a fishery, an adjacent bed, and a fish-cleaning dwarf, and that fish-cleaning dwarf were the only dwarf allowed to use the fishery or the bed, would that fish-cleaning dwarf ever be bothered by the noise of his own workshop while sleeping?  When is the noise-check made?  Do only active workshops generate noise?

it is my firm belief that only active workshops generate noise, my carpenters have their own workshop just bellow their bedrooms, though it can be a problem when thei're married.

It wasn't that long ago that we learned you shouldn't give chocolate bars to a constantly starving people... because it kills them or something like that. (I may need to look into it more)
um...fixed?

no, politically corrected, not fixed

I can't figure out if you're saying that Neonivek intended that we should kill starving people, or if you are.

i'm just saying that cobalt kobold didn't fixed anything as the original sentense wasn't formally wrong, he merelly changed it acordingly to his cultural tag: [ETHIC:KILL_STARVING_SAPIENT:UNTHINKABLE]

oh, sugar shock sounds fun

i could quickly mod dogs to generate 100 fats, i would have to process it all, but with my dwarves sped up to speed 0 it wouldn't be much trouble

chill out guys, are there any serious awards? if not, who cares, the magma filled soap tower surrounded by magmafalls will win anyways

maybe you couldn't say how much power is generated, but it wouldnt be much trouble to calculate and output how much power is required from a windmill

Wheat did a decent enough job for Europeans but adding potatoes to their diet was useful for stabilizing their diet further. They've got wheat in northern China as well but I'm not familiar with the usual deficiencies in a rice based diet (or are there none?) They've got soy beans there though so maybe they've always been supplementing their diets with those.

i think the major problem with a rice only diet is the lack of vitamin A, wich can lead to blindness

Heh. I suppose if the elephants are to be kept both alive, not poached, and with tusks at the same time, they would have to learn multitusking...

LOL

a god idea is to dedicate an entire cpu to DF, this can be done manually with the task manager but there's a little program that makes your job easier, google for smp seesaw...or maybe i'll google it for you, be rite back

EDIT 'ere ye go http://www.mlin.net/SMPSeesaw.shtml

it has a very simple and intuitive interface, but if you need any help, just ask

EDIT2 my browser doesn't download the msi when i click on the link, instead it tries to open it as a webpage, if you experience the same, instead of left clicking the link, right click it and select "save as" and save the file, making sure you add .msi to the end of its name

5/10 for shunning 80ies fashion revival...maybe 7 for previously stated animated hatness

DF Modding / Re: Stonesense - The isometric visualizer, official thread
« on: December 03, 2009, 12:02:12 pm »
How has this thread gotten to over 120 pages and no one has bothered to draw a barrel the number one object in almost every fortress.   :D

stonesense can't read items, the drawing of a barrel would be of little use
