i'm under the impression that he isn't as batshit as the ayatolah, so i'm expecting this to get worse before it gets better

Other Games / Re: Gnomoria: Is this the next DF-Like?
« on: October 20, 2012, 10:41:22 am »
i've always been defensive of most so called df ripoffs; goblin camp, survivors of ragnarok, even dwavesh, and i bought gnomoria in good faith, but i feel it is really too similar to df, and it is the first df-like that i feel deserves the description of ripoff, what it didn't rip off of df, it ripped it from various fan created utilities, or was fairly obvious things like mouse support, etc. i think it still has a chance to set itself apart from df and shine by it's own merits, but it hasn't done so yet, and the fact that it's already for sale irks me a bit.

i'm not disagreeing with you, i'm just advancing a simple solution to the "workers are incompetent managers" problem opponents of the worker's corporation have mentioned. i don't think anybody would have a problem with a manager being responsible to the people he's supposed to manage, its the basis for representative democracy after all

why do we assume inexperienced workers would manage business\factories\whatever themselves? why wouldn't they instead rely on the judgement of a competent administrator they themselves elected? that's the way businesses work in capitalist systems, shareholders usually have someone managing the business for the shareholders benefit, in this case you would just replace the shareholders with the workers

so, a plutocratic dictatorship is the only possible way to run a business? and socialists are the autocrats?

Will we ever get dwarf cavalry? Will we be able to make armor for animals? Because an insane marksdwarf riding on an armored legendary Roc sounds just plain awesome. Better yet, make the bird a gunship.
'ever' is such a strong word... but no. toady has stated he doesn't like the idea of mounted dwarves and he isn't planning on implementing mounts in fort mode

If you really can't find a pencil in your whole domicile (I've been there)
do you often sneak into bay12ers houses and take away their pencils or is bombzero a special case?
did you take my pencils?

Well talked to my father today and we narrowed down who was stealing my posters to one guy. I'm not going to confront the guy if he won't confront me (he's the one with the problem).

Bah. I would lie in ambush with a zweihander until he passed, at which point I'd leap out and while my blade fell towards his head I'd shout "SMITE EVIL!".

Of course, you might face considerable legal trouble unless the sword is made out of nerf foam.
well if you use smite evil you can do considerable damage to homophobes even with just a foam sword

sorry to have fried your brains a little. that's indeed part of the original illustration explaining how to recognize different cuts of meat, on top of which i painted the pin up. it's easier to recognize it on paper, though. they all look a lot nicer on paper too

possibly the worst thing ever done to a 40ies magazine. i'm not really interested in criticism, constructive or otherwise, at least till tomorrow night

Ha! I seriously love all of that.

Would love some of those framed on the wall.
glad you like it. i'm getting mixed messages from a potential buyer, he either wants some of them for 40€ apiece, or all of them for 300€, but whatever i don't sell by sunday i can make it available to bay12ers for a friendlier price. If you'd like a print, i'm going to scan them in a better scanner and you can have the scans for free, if the buyer(s) don't object

getting rid of private property, or at least imposing a limit on how much you can hoard. you can still benefit people based on merit, but take away their power to exploit other people's merit
also, get an advanced AI to manage the country
