I don't get why they'd be miffed about it in the first place. If I made a mod, I would be thrilled for it to end up in a popular, accessible modpack which is then featured on the Yogscast.
I would have never have used them otherwise.

Any word on what so-called "ender sand" does?

And holy crap, from what I've read getting to the End will be far more difficult and time consuming than building a Nether gate.
It gives worlds a long term goal, Building a neather gate can be done in thirty min if you are lucky.

There's a new pre-release out.  Go check the minecraft forums for it.

It has the End.  My only friend, the End.

No dragons yet though.
I like this concept of the end, but I wish he would not put the dragon's in it, they just don't fit.

Can anyone recommend any good books/tutorials for either language, that doesn't assume any prior knowledge of programming at all?

I don't even code. I just know this book is a big deal.

Maybe also get something with a focus on games

Turbine's worse than 2fort in my mind. The absolute campfests set up on Turbine become unbelievably frustrating.

I havent experience a lot of camping on Turbine.

Anyone else playing cp_orange?

I remember that map from a few years ago, and I really liked it a lot. But the modern ones, have lower gravity, and the rtd mods, which I find distracting. Though, its an excellent sniper map. A good sniper is god on that map.
I think much of it is sentry spam in the intel room The tight hallways are easy to keep locked down so it often takes a well planned uber to push.

That, I have experience, but that seems to be par for the course on CTF maps. Beside, its insurmountable. It is called /TEAM/ Fortress. Even though most game, its functional anarchy.
If the alt path wasn't though the spawn it would be a lot better.

I will take out the security systems, they will lock up after ten seconds of my contact with them.

The only humane thing to do is make robots to engage in combat with Japanese ones.

Technic pack is too demanding to make a proper server. If only buildcraft, industrial craft, and EE were able to be merged into one.... I can see the alchemy vs technology wars.
I think it is gonna get scaled down for SMP,
Mo' creatures is at the top of my choppin block.

I cannot tell you how heartily sick I am of generic combat in roguelike games ("You hit the Elf! It is wounded! You hit the Elf! It is dead!")

Exactly! We need a lot more roguelikes with a better combat system.

Oh also, will there be wrestling? :D
Unarmed combat is included in DF and it's a lot damn fun. There isn't much use for it when you got a sword though.
I hope gaming in general becomes much more rich with this.

One day on a whim after playing Spelunky I chose to try and study archeology with my life.
(That and reading research papers for humanities)

Fortress Mode, if that's what you're referring to, is pretty unique. The closest you're going to get is probably Minecraft.

What about Dungeon Master?
