DF Suggestions / Saving task lists

It'd be nice if you could assign 'task lists' for various shops.  Like lets say I want to create armor.  I want a full set of iron chain.  Ideally, I'd hit the option 'task list' (or whatever) and it'd ask me what I wanted to create.  Then I'd put in the iron chain mail, iron leggings, cap, gauntlets, low boot.  Then it'd save that as 'Iron chain suit' or whatever I tell it.  Then I could queue up 5 sets of armor instead of a maximum of two.

Same for tables.  You could queue up an entire dining room instead of just 5 table/chair sets.

I have a long 3 wide bridge that's in a 4 z level high areea. The bridge is on the second z level (it's not a retractable bridge, just carved it out of the stone as I was digging), bunch of water is on the first z level, and the third and fourth z levels have fortifications.  So as they cross the bridge, I gun them down.  If they try to dodge the arrows, they fall in the drink.  If they try to retreat, the drawbridge they came in by slams closed.

Ya know I have a well with the water right under it (in fact, when I forgot to turn the faucet off, it did a great job of overflowing and promptly draining directly into my living quarters) but when I try to zone for fishing, it's a no go.

Does the water perhaps have to have fish in it?  Like when you look in a brook/river you can see the different types of fish 'swimming' in it? 

I know the fish can get sucked into your cisterns (have had it happen) so perhaps that's a requisite as well?

Hmm, never had a problem with sparring injuries in barracks with beds (well, any more than usual.  Just got a guy who died of suffocation after he lost a sparring match with a spearman...).

But my barracks are fairly large.  About 400 or so tiles probably.

Since they have the barracks, is there any since in giving them a room?

Also the wiki says they heal slower in a room of their own vs a 'hospital' (the barracks, I guess?).  Any truth to that?  I think it had a littly 'verify' tag next to it.

It was a dwarf. 

If other races liason's die, they declare war on you?

Also what if you try to sell wood items to the elves?  They got haughty at that but how angry are they?  Can I expect elf sieges in the future?

I do about 20% military most the time.  I often just have a bunch of 'haulers' sitting around with nothing to haul.  I'll clear out most of the stone in my fort with them and then there's nothing to use them for, so they're given a sword and a pat on the back.

So I do get a new one?  Because it was my understanding that it's the same one every time and once gone, they don't send another.

Several years.  I'll have maybe one or two grow up over a 3 year period.  And these are immigrant children so who knows how old they started at.   

If you're wanting your fortress to be stocked by children growing up, you're in for the long haul.


Also did ya'll know that dwarves can have miscarriages?  I didn't know that, but I'd imagine that would hurt your population growth as well.

Well the most recent save I have is back to the last season, and I don't feel like re-doing all that.

Does it affect any other part of my game other than just not being able to request stuff any more?

I know that once the liason dies, that's it, they don't send another one.  And I'd normally be fine with that.  But my liason, for NO reason at all, just did a head plunge into a group of goblins and I'm not fine with that.

So is there a way to trick the game into thinking she's alive again, or a way to ressurect her or anything?  I don't mind cheating in this instance as there's no reason she should have done that (other than a bug or the game hating me or something).

Man that's a lot of boulders..

Oh well.  I have 8 engravers for a reason.  Shame there's no 'smooth boulder' option so it doesn't smooth all the ground as well.

Ok so I just had this happen again.  Turns out the wagon was having a hell of a time navigating the mountains.

So is there anyway to force a merchant to spawn at a certain location on the map?  Like, if I build a road to the edge, will they prefer to spawn there vs in the middle of a mountain range?  Because the wagons don't handle the slopes very well evidently.

Best I can offer is patience.  On the large map I genned I found a site with flux, magma, underground river (though I've yet to find it), chasm, and HFS.  No regular river, though.  Just a brook, so no epic carp struggles :(

It does have both flux and iron though, so I'm happy.
