The mercenary kept his silence as Martyn spoke, no doubt out of preference for letting the more carefully-spoken man work. A couple moments after the merchant's last words, though, a low grumble sounded from Kaldach's gut. His mouth slanted, as if reminded of more immediate priorities.
: "...If you're offering, then maybe you can spot for a couple rooms and board at this, or some other inn close by. Been a long trip coming here."

Standing from his kneel, Lamden nodded towards Anne-Laude.
: "Aye." He lowered his once-cursed arm down towards Mason in an offer to help him up, "Let us be done with this sordid tale, and move on."

The mercenary scratched the back of his head.
: "...Just something that seemed odd. The best light magic users usually have something to do with Mordo."

Lamden nodded, contemplating for a brief moment.
: "...Perhaps, if you could entertain a theory a moment."
: "I... do not think that it was Chaos that established those powers in the first place. Perhaps the creature had figured out over time the effects that the powers had over your actions, and came to rely on them to manipulate them. If Chaos were truly in control of these visions in the first place, why would it lead us all to this outcome?"
: "Perhaps another entity needed someone, nay, needed Mason specifically, to understand the breadth of the threat that lied ahead. And now that the threat lay silent and defeated, the world has no need of the prophet any longer." The preist's mouth slanted, but he continued on, "I would take this not as a moment of weakness, but a sign of a job well done. At least, that's what this feeble guard believes."

Lamden, silent for the longest time, simply took a deep breath. He took a good few moments to stare at the gate, his face inscrutable, before kneeling next to the unresponsive prophet.
: "...Mason? Are you there?"

Lamden to E7. Heal Catherine, then canto to D7

: "Well, you have a plan. That's better than I was expecting. Maybe this meandering about will go somewhere after all."
The mercenary looked around the inn's exterior just before they entered.
: "...Big place. Most of it for the trader-types, I'd figure."
