You are indeed the bard.

Huh. I'm kinda wondering what to do for combat then, since I just realized I would take a damage penalty with bows, and my HP is too low to really melee even if I use weapon finesse.

Meh, guess bards are pretty much a support class anyway, so it doesn't matter.

I probably should have done this earlier.  When is everyone available to play?  This month I'm good whenever, some time mid-September I'm going back to college though.  I'll have my schedule Tuesday.

I'm GMT-5
Lets see... right now anytime works, but I also have classes starting up in september... I would be free Tuesday after 4:30 PM, Thursday after 12:30 PM, and all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

GMT -8

So I'm the bard then?

618
Yeah, I know about the masterwork thing.

Dang though. I guess paying 8,315 for just a +2 weapon when we only get 9,000 is a little out of the question, then...

619
Another question; looking at the SRD, it says in order for a weapon to have a specific magical effect it must have at least a +1 Enhancement Bonus. Does this mean in order to have a [Weapon] of Shock, it would cost at least 8,000(the base price for a +2 weapon) and have the +1 Enhancement Bonus, or could I make a +1 [Weapon](Only 2,000) a [Weapon] of Shock and forgo and Enhancement Bonus?

I'm going to have you guys pick your gear now.  I'm getting a good handle on how I want to do things and it would be much easier if you picked beforehand.

The 9000 gold is whatever you had on hand plus your officer commission.  The armory has a well-stocked supply of magic and masterwork gear, more mundane stuff like rope and provisions can be abstracted out via your boat's cargo supply.

List what you want and I'll give it the go-ahead if it's good.  You're fresh officers straight out of the academy, they're not going to trust their really good stuff to you yet, but you can probably get some decent weapons and armor, plus potions, scrolls, and the stuff to get you going.

Have you decided which people are playing, or should we all chose our gear?

EDIT: I should at least know if I should pick gear for my bard or my fighter.

Can I drop a lure where I am standing for 1 AP instead of throwing it 6 squares for 3 AP?

Yeah... you almost did enough damage to kill him three times over, so that was the result. I imagine it looks something like this:

I move far to the east and snipe the two rightmost guys.
You take off your Errol mask and move slightly to the east so you can line up a better shot on two of the guards. (6+2)(13+2) Your first shot misses, but the second hits the guardsman's cranium. The bullet hits at such an angle that the man's head explodes, and you have actually created some sort of mural on the back of the wall depicting someone's brains getting blown out, in the medium of blood and brains.

Rodrick, cover me.  I'm going for our boys down by the tower.

Run down and heal Alexi.

You run across the soft land to reach the group that is in trouble (7+2) Your own wounds still fresh in your mind, you are able to ease the pain and seal several of the wounds to prevent blood loss, though you will still probably need to remove the bullets later. You are now running low on medical supplies, however.

+1 to Medicine

Well they are fixed in place, so unless they are shooting at you, it should be realitivly easy. Desmond, throw your pulse grenades at it!!!

Fire at the Autogun! Get rid of that thing! Take cover where I can!
You run up to the autogun and fire a shotgun blast at it. (7+2) Most of the pellets miss the gun, though a couple do manage to hit and they damage it considerably.

+1 to Shotguns

Get in front ov everyone in my group and let the enemies at F eat 8 Bulets, making it seem like i can just take my time

You push your way to the front of the group to protect your teammates, and fire another 8 bullets at the guards. (12+2)(9+2) You finish off the two heavily wounded guards, and wound the healthy one.

+3 to Heavy Weaponry

Drat.
Fire twice at the guards.
Smoke three packs of cigarettes at once, thus shielding me and my comrades in a smoky haze and preventing the autoturret guy from seeing us.

You fire at the guards (9+2)(12+2) scoring one bodyshot and one headshot. Unfortunately, it seems that your bullets were defective or something, as one bounced harmlessly of the bodyguard's bulletproof vest, while the other guard now has a broken nose instead of a broken brain. You then stuff all of the cigarettes you are carrying into your mouth, and light them all at once.

Well, well well. I now move forward until I have good position to fight against the turret, and hit that one with my mortar.
You advance towards the compound and fire a round at the turret (8+3) The shell lands somewhat north of the turret, but it creates such a large explosion that the turret is completely annihilated. Several pieces of shrapnel fly at James, who was probably standing a little too close, but they bounce harmlessly off his powerful armor.

+2 to Siege Engineering

Help whoever got the worst wounds from the last autoturret round. Medically.
You move in to help James (7) and sort of reduce the bleeding, maybe.

Attempt to get close enough to the tower so that it can't shoot me. Then apply first aid to myself. If I cant get close enough then Ill roll into the swamp when the big gun fires again. I can deal with infections later.

You run to the large gun tower, (11) and rush inside the door. There is a small ladder which leads up to the turret's controls.

0 grenade skill gogogog

I lob pulse grenades at the southwestern turret...I spread out from the group of three, so the turret can't hit us all at once again.
You pull out one of your pulse grenades (7) but then decide that using valuable resources on that is essentially debris is rather wasteful, even if it was shooting at you seconds earlier.

Um sure. The health of both the bard looks odd. The bard should have 13 and the fighter should have 50.

Ops oh wait, the fighter is fine.

Alright, fixed. I wasn't sure about the bard's health since 13 seemed abysmally low compared to the fighter's 55 but hey, not much I can do about that.

625
Anyone care to comment on mine?

626
Okay. Two basic characters; I'm fine playing either, both look like fun. The HP roll thing was sort of confusing, but I think I got it right...

Well right now I'm debating between the following:

Fighter(Specializing in Trident & Net) who was a fisherman before joining the navy.
Bard who had developed wanderlust after telling one-too-many stories in the tavern.
Monk on a quest of spiritual fulfillment.

I have a general idea how each would play, as well as a very simple backstory for each I plan on fleshing out later.

Oh, and I'm going to be a human, unless I choose bard, in which case I may be an elf.

628
Don't be a bard, though. Because they are terrible.

I was considering being a Monk earlier, and those are pretty bad as well, aren't they? Besides, aren't Arcane Tricksters generally considered to be low-tier as well?

Ah well, I suppose I can do something different...

629
Wow, we have a lot of people going rogue. I guess that makes sense being pirate-themed and all, but still... Maybe I will go Bard or Sorcerer instead, just for some diversity.

630
I'd rather you not homebrew stuff, especially not homebrew stuff from JRPGs, especially not homebrew stuff from JRPGs with which I have zero familiarity.

Alright, I can respect that. Sticking to my rogue then.
