Any idea when Open Beta is going to happen? I would love to do Closed, but I don't have the time right now to jump through hoops in order to get a chance at a key.

I'll be on-server awaiting ludicrous combat.
If you've got some time now, this game is like 1MB size and pretty fun.  Someone's got a dedicated server and I'm thinning the bots a little right now.

Cheers for the invitation, but sadly, I had already logged off the forum. Busy busy times and it is only now starting to clear. So, I might pop up in that game in a few weeks. Mayhaps PS2 might be open beta by then! ... A NC recruit can dream.

Thanks for the response. Sad to see the mod go to sleep, but I understand the reasoning behind it. Good luck with the next project!

Any chance you could tell us why? I did enjoy the mod and was looking forward to more WH40K Grimdark.

New interview over at Joystiq. Has a few new tidbits, one them being that there no longer are different types of shot (like snapshot, autoshot, or aimed shot). Instead, you get accuracy bonuses for flanking aliens.

To all the Tau lovers: The Greater Good is coming to you from my Bolter, alien.

As for the thread, Warhammer is waaaaaaaay to expensive for me to be actively involved in painting mini's. I do buy all the rulebooks and have a small library of novels (I love dem novels. Luuuuuve them), which probably already adds up to hundreds of euros. But I can't mentally justify buying a small figure the size of my thumb (which I still have to paint, which I still have to buy as well) which costs more than 30 euros. For 30 euro's, I get two novels or an omnibus with 5 stories. The Night Lords series by Aaron-Dembski Bowden for instance was most excellent.

I could buy a 'used' army, sure, but those things are never how I would have painted them. So, yeah. I did try a proxy game of WH by using cardboard, but I didn't have the experience and my co-player the patience to finish a full game. I'm quite sad there aren't any RPG groups in my neighbourhood. Otherwise, I would love to do a round of Deathwatch or Black Crusade. I love Space Marines.

Long interview courtesy of AngryJoe.

And I'll toss an interview (with new footage) made by Machinima.

New footage. Fast forward to 3:51:40. The official 2K feed shows the new mission fully, without interruptions and narrated by Pete Murray from 2K. It also shows interceptors in action and a new mission where they breach a UFO with soldiers decked out with carapace armour and laser weaponry and meet an unknown alien. Both parts are in surprisingly low (blurry) resolution. Will post high-res stuff once I find it.

The interceptor bit looked a bit disappointing since I couldn't discern any options beyond the obious "abort" order. Work-in-progress perhaps.

And some more footage. IGN has the entire mission that was demoed at E3 and an interview here. So does Rev3games here.

Shows off late-game stuff. Do not watch unless you like spoilers!

Some more E3 XCOM footage. First up is the Gamespot feed here. Fast forward to 19:45. If you prefer youtube, go here. This one has interview and gameplay.

Another feed is the official 2K one. Fast forward to 1:07:00 for an interview.

Spoiler alerts all over, yet again. Please keep your boner and associated body fluids to yourself. For now at least. You can go all-out on Solifuge's birthday.

Really. I think these guys have done more press and made more videos than most AAA games. It seems like every week there's a new interview or trailer.

I'm ready to give you my money Firaxis. Less talky and showy, more release-y!

Nah, you just got a few die-hards who keep scrounging up every little tid-bit of information there is on the interweb. ;) And it is nothing compared to the amount of info about Borderlands 2. Or Spec Ops the Line. 2K is really betting heavily on those two.

But I do agree with the shutupandtakemymoney.jpg sentiment. If only I could carbon-freeze myself till October ...
