DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Eye Gouger
« on: December 12, 2009, 02:11:15 am »
I don't think you can break legs. Joints, however, can be broken by anything.

Hips for Upper Leg. Ankle for feet. Knees for lower legs.

Shoulder for upper arm. Elbows for lower arms. Wrist for Hands.

On your next elf slaughtering adventures, grab the little girl, gouge out her eyes, break all the above joints, strangle her to death.

It's alright to enjoy it. It's not as if the elf has feelings.

I bought a laptop with a number pad for similar reasons.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Dwarf Liason offering Sand?
« on: December 12, 2009, 01:57:30 am »
its probably something in the mayday mod.  everyone talks about it like its stock, but its not.  i would be curious to see if it comes in bags, or as some sort of bugged boulder of sand.

Mayday is a visual mod, as I recall.

Are you sure? Don't have a small tile in the corner or something? Mixed Biome area?

Attempting to recreate.

Edit: Didn't see it on this fortress. I don't have any fortresses up in a area with sand to test it out.

It's just not that essential. I'm thinking you mean it as a piece of furniture with utility. What powers it? Wood? Good waste of wood. What purpose does it serve? Cooks food for individual dwarves? Raises their cooking? Why? A dedicated cook can do this. Room value? So what? It's a Noble piece of furniture?

I just don't see it as fitting in Dwarf Fortress at this time.

I beg to differ.

Same here whats it mean?
Some sort of clothing, pool of blood/magma from above, that isn't a barrel, or booze, and that is mist.

Check in-game again. You'll notice barrels are just Division symbols with a brownish background.

I wish engraved walls floor looked good compared to it's surroundings. They always seem so bright and vibrant compared to everything else.

Here's an example:

Dump the hammer to some square. Channel that square. Construct a floor over it. Now it's gone until you want it.

The population cap prevents pregnancies.

It might as well be Adam and Steve.

its just d-v not d-b-v

I'm using 40d16 as well and there is  no "d-b-v". In that section there is only Reclaim, Forbid, Dump, Remove Dump, Melt, Remove Melt, Hide Items, Unhide Items

and the "Hide Items" definitely doesn't work.

Also, how does one make a drawbridge? Ive gotten as far as a normal, nonviolent bridge and cant seem to make it raise and potentially smash things.

A Dwarven Atom Smasher?

B -> G

When you are choosing it's size, you'll notice you can use WAXD. You can choose the direction it will pull outwards.

Retracting bridges are more fun, I think. Throw your opponents!

So i should create a 4x4 room with a bed, cage(what about a restraint), food and alcohol? Also how do i capture a thief or a hostile intruder and put them in a jail cell?

If you're making an individual room, then 4x4 is unnecessary. 3 of those tiles aren't reachable by the dwarf. With a 3x3 room, you can put the Restraint in the middle of the room and the stuff the dwarf will need all around it. I strongly suggest you use ropes/chains instead of cages. In a cage, the Dwarf is stuck in that one spot and can't reach a bed or any alcohol.

I don't think this is necessary for this game. Mutations take hundreds of thousands of years. Dwarves already adapt to their environment. You play your biome well or you lose.
