Other Games / Re: McFry's Minecraft Server: Back To Work

Yeah, I tried to join earlier and was welcomed by a "server has closed" before I even got there. I don't know how to do it, but I'm pretty sure the golem has to be deleted from the world before anyone can enter that chunk.

The server crashed, but a lesson is learned on this fine day: Don't ask a golem to pick up the whole ocean.

The server went down again today while I was wandering around spawn looking for a greatwood to take trimmings from. I have no idea what happened, the whole show just stopped while I was in midair.

The shopkeeper gets +10 persuasion when he uses the eyebrow technique.

So we buy the technique. We use the technique. It works.

We get a technique that gives shopkeepers +10 persuasion.

I think you can still participate in politics for free, you just can't vote. You'd also probably have a harder time getting elected, not because of system restrictions, but just because people who pay are seen as more invested. I'm pretty sure that's just in place to stop people from starting scandals by making dozens of free accounts to commit voter fraud.

The whole design was based on their asian servers, according to the news post from Ankama. Supposedly the asian servers were making mad cash compared to the french/NA servers, so they'll probably be fine. I noticed that apart from name changes, boosters, emotes, and expedited restats, pretty much everything can be sold on the market (several luminos and bow wows for over a hundred thousand kamas each in Amakna last I checked). It's kinda refreshing compared to other games I've seen that both had pay-to-win and made a huge deal about people selling cash shop items for game money.

Probably the weirdest thing I've seen so far is just the enigma of what peopl are doing with their Lumino money. Seriously, excluding the market because those kamas go into another player's pocket, the only real sinks are zaaps, canoons, guilds, and politics. I really want to know what people are doing with two hundred and fifty thousand kamas in a game with no NPC shops to permanently drain the economy. Never mind, I guess Wakfu money is a lot like real money: Circulating a few dozen times as a medium of exchange and then mysteriously vanishing (ie. lost in storm drains in real life, used to invoke climate change in Wakfu).

Did anyone mention yet that climate change is kinda sorta a thing in Wakfu?

So I decided to take on Shin Larva after running out of woolly keys and suddenly weirdness? After I rushed Shin and killed it, the cocoons started spawning friendly larvae that swarmed the remaining enemies. I ran the dungeon again and couldn't reproduce it, and the internet has no information, so now I have no idea what's going on. Has anyone else seen this and/or know why it happened?

I see that Osamodas' hammer isn't on that list despite having +2 control. I wonder if Eskarina's hammer being reduced will make it more valuable?

Stasis damage stuff
Everything I've read says that rather than ignoring resists, stasis automatically hits with the element that an enemy resists the least. If that's true, your extra damage may be accounted for by the enemy having a 20% weakness to something.

I got the formula from the wiki so there's some possibility of it being out of date, but I really doubt they'd just up and change an underlying formula like that because of how much work would go into rebalancing all the monsters and equipment:

Quote
Elemental Damage = Base Damage * (1 + [Elemental Damage Bonus - Elemental Resistance]/100)
Final Damage = Elemental Damage * (1 + [Final Damage Bonus - Final Resistance] / 100)

Where the elemental damage values are what's listed with the element symbols in your characteristics page and the final damage values are the sum of the "+damage/+resist" values on your equipment plus 15 for a side hit or 30 for an unboosted backstab (E: turns out the backstab formula is a bit more complicated and nonlinear. Unmodified it's about 15% for side and 30% for back, but when you have bonus points it gets weird). Critical hits don't factor in (unless you have critical damage stat, which I'm not sure about) because they modify the base effects of spells and those changes just get multiplied through.

Note that damage bonus and resist percentages are additive, which makes your element points become progressively less valuable as you level. Higher level armour gives much better damage bonuses, but your 12.5% bonus is just 12.5% of the listed base damage for your spell, which is not much. Similarly, Resists are actually subtracted from the attacker's damage bonus instead of being a final multiplier like in a lot of other games: If you have 100% resist and get hit with a spell from someone with 300% damage bonus, they still connect with 200% final bonus for 3 times the spell's base damage.

It might be because I'm playing xelor, but I personally found that 2 extra AP from level 30 and the gobball set made a world of difference for my power - I went from hitting about 40 per turn to hitting about 120 per turn almost immediately after I got the level 30 restat.

+1 AP, but they reduce your HP by 100 and your MP by 1. They were recently restricted to only working if you have less than 10 total AP because lategame players loved them too much. The minimum level to use them is 25 if that's an issue.

Cap'n Atcha specifically has a guaranteed appearance at least once within the first ten times you gather after getting the backache debuff, even if you aren't gathering the thing he first caught you on. That's what my question a couple pages back about gathering from monsters was for: You can gather plentiful resources(tree cuttings, thistle seeds, etc.) for job training, then throw the first fight with cap'n in order to guarantee a second fight while harvesting slower/rarer things (copper, zinc, straw, logs). I was hoping you could use it to also, say, get 40 country roots to make bags with, but it turns out cap'n never shows up when gathering from monsters.

In other news, I'm making satisfaction rings now if anyone wants some free ones. Otherwise, they're going up on a shop board for ~10k kamas.

Does fishing count?

No, sorry. I actually got a cap'n atcha battle on sturgeon recently, but I'm thinking specifically about things like gobballs and dandy lions.

Final Fantasy Tactics MMO! Sort of! Actually, that's kind of a shallow comparison, but Dofus was pretty good a few years back, so eh. I'm trying out a Xelor and an Osamodas on Nox now.

So far, it looks like summon osamodas is not quite the infinite hammertime it was in Dofus, but it's still really great at low-to-midgame levels.

Support xelor seems to start out really slow but then get better at higher levels? A lot of the spells seem cool but the AP effects don't have enough kick to be really powerful until you can cast more than one per turn. On one hand, I kinda wish it were more like FFT time mages. On the other hand, that would mean everyone on the server would just play xelor and chain immobilize and meteor.

Finally, has anyone triggered a Cap'n Atcha fight while harvesting from animals? It's a question for... a friend. A friend named Science.

Size in OFF doesn't really mean much, we don't even know how strong the beast is!

Comparably Oric has 50 HP, so the thing is presumably is under 50 HP. Meaning it's killable, as long as we can purify it.
If I recall correctly, the secretaries generally had well over ten times as much health as the zone bosses. Don't be surprised if this thing turns out to be packing 150+ hp based on Proxxy's 15. E: Just checked the stats and turns out that was wrong. They just appear so often that it starts to feel like a single three-hour fight instead of a zillion five-minute fights.

Initiate tactical diplomacy.
