Because this is too fun to die.
Excellent game Haspen, I loved how much thought you seemed to put into the world building.
Well done, Haspen. Probably the best suggestion game I've had the pleasure to be part of.

And to think that I made this game on a whim.

"Eh why not, it's prolly gonna die in a week or two anyways."

You send a letter to the rebellious governors, asking them to reconsider their ways, overthrow Iann and return into the fold of the Houlandines.

Quote
5*

Your letter throws the rebellion into turmoil; about half of the governors is willing to switch sides but then the other disagree, and Iann's mercenaries get involved against the cities' militiamen.

You win, althought the whole affair costed about eight hundred lives. Iann Eólwyn fled, last seen heading toward Kashite mountains.

Are the rumors true? Are your people rebelling across the Kingdom, the unpaid Army not willing to defend your Throne? Enemies buying out the loyalty of your men, the foreign powers preparing soldiers to take what's theirs by force?

The advisor brings you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

Happiness: 2
Population: 4
Economy: 0!(unpaid debts for next year: 3)
Army: 2

He then explains to you how bad the situation is, and how is there nothing that can be done about it.

"I'm afraid that you have squandered the opportunities to solve our financial crisis, Your Majesty." He says, and then takes off his beret, placing it on your desk.

"Good luck, Queen Aife. I thereby declare my retirement."

===GAME OVER===

Kingdom of Luathbas crumbles to ruin in year 892 AD!

Lifespan of Houlandine Dynasty: 92 years (800 AD to 892 AD)

Names of Kings and Queens and their Reigns:

1. Houlandin I, "Lawsmaster" (800 AD - 811 AD)
2. Houlandin II, "The Guardian" (816 AD - 831 AD), son of Houlandin I
3. Lech (831 AD - 835 AD), son of Houlandin I
4. Houlandin III, "The Master Tactician" (841 AD - 860 AD), son of Houlandin II
5. Llewyn, "The Conqueror" (863 AD - 868 AD), son of Houlandin III
6. Romuald (869 AD), son of Houlandin III
7. Feodh, "The Savior" (871 AD - 881 AD), son of Houlandin III
8. Elana of Tven, "Lady of the Faith" (881 - 891 AD), wife of Feodh
9. Aife (891 AD - 892 AD), daughter of Feodh

Terrifying beasts slain: 4 (Dragon, Salt Demon, Nightmare Steed, Hydra)

Magical artifacts total: 5 (Dwarven Necklace of Persuasion, Dwarven Scepter of Health, Obsidian Mace "Murder Time", Dwarven Cuirass of Deflection, Sky Iron Knife)

Reason for defeat: Economy rating at 0 for more than 1 year in a row.

SPAMKINGDOM is done. Will you...

A) Continue as a distant relative of the previous Dynasty, rising to power in different place, at different time?
B) Retry the quest for power, wealth and epicness with different dynasty in different kingdom?
C) Quit SPAMKINGDOM, as it won't be just the same as it was?

You won't be selling any important stuff! You write to the Governor that presence of Masala at your court is not required.

892 AD, Winter

A yearly report from the northwestern mines arrived at your court.

Quote
1to2

Unfortunately, there were no exceptional revenues from the mines this year.

892 AD, Midwinter

Quote
2*

The terrible winter weather - the cold, the blizzards, the moisture - has put you into bed, ill with the terrible lung illness.

Quote
4*

Fortunately your healers are able to treat you well.

892 AD, Late Winter

Quote
5*

Few weeks later you're back on your feel, all well and safe.

Quote
1

Unfortunately, your beloved nation isn't. There has been an uprising against Houlandine rule in the east of the country, near the Augas province. Several cities, under the rule of a nobleman Iann Eólwyn has declared that you're no longer their Queen, and they will be better off under Iann's personal rule, benefiting from his wealth and mercenary forces.

A) Truly, naught can be done about this!
B) Scum! Our Army shall march forth and teach them a lesson!
C) They made a grave mistake, let's point that out with a well-composed diplomatic letter.

You decline the offer of marriage to a fellow Luathbasian.

892 AD, Late Summer

Quote
1

Future historians will have quite an enigma; despite best efforts of your servants, courtiers, and agents, nobody can find Sky Iron Knife. It is a mystery where did it go.

892 AD, Autumn

A letter from Governor of Augas has arrived.

Apparently, he made an acquitance of a traveling Gubtan merchant named Masala. One day the Governor mentioned that Luathbas Crown has treasury woes due to recent war, and this Masala has offered to buy any prized items that you might have for a hefty amount of coin.

The Governor wishes to know if he is allowed to invite Masala to your Palace.

A) Sure, maybe we can sell off something we don't exactly need.
B) Never! Crown Jewels of Luathbas aren't mere trinkets one can trade!

Eh? I suppose if we can't get a Gubta to strengthen our relations then a Adilian might be cool. From what I remember we can't reproduce with any other species that isn't human besides Elves.

Aife ain't even 1/4th elven by now ;v

You decide to postpone all the projects and cut the Army spending for a year.

892 AD, Spring

Quote
5

There was some minor rebellion in the south, the unhappy peasants taking up arms, but it was quickly quelled by local militia.

892 AD, Summer

Quote
6

Another bout of rebellion was quickly prevented in the northwest by a wise governor and his agents.

892 AD, Midsummer

A courtier from your castle just asked you one thing: are you going to marry?

Because his mother has this cousin of hers and that man in question has his heir, a celibate youth and a pious Pantheonist, who needs a bride. Therefore a marriage could be arranged if only you wish it.

A) Fine, I can't seem to attract any more important would-be husband.
B) Nah, I wish for a big name to marry rather than a small one.

I think the safest option would be B, but before I vote, Haspen, would C completely terminate the reform or could we continue it later?

They can be re-started later (from scratch, forever), Army budget will be asked to be kept low/restored to full every year.

You declare that your firstborn child shall be the next ruler of Luathbas.

891 AD, Midwinter

Quote
3to4

The only good news this year are that the mining complex in northwest, which escaped the carnage, had managed to produce enough ores and gold to double the profits.

891 AD, End of the Year

You somewhat dread this time of the year as the Advisor is about to- oh here he comes, hauling those Scrolls of Kingdom Status with him.

He presents them on your desk.

Happiness: 2
Population: 4
Economy: 0!(unpaid tributes for next year: 2)
Army: 1

You sob.

"Your Majesty, the amount of tributes and promises of monetary rewards your mother made to allies and friends of the Crown is staggering, not to mention the tribute given to the Damdamians which we only could pay in half this year. We need to drastically cut spending, lest someone simply buys the loyalty of our people! I won't offer raising of taxes, as it would be suicide."

You decide to...

A) Cut the Army budget for a year.
B) Postpone the construction of settlements and hovels for the poor.
C) Halt the treasury reform and spending reserved for it.
D) Agree to all of the above.

With a degree of disappointment in your eyes and a heavy sigh, you take the quill and write down your name besides the mark of Caus Ticus' signet. The Damdamian smiles triumphantly, takes his copy of the agreement, bows to you curtly and then leaves. Moments later, cheering and trumpets sound in the Damdamian camp.

891 AD, Winter

You're Queen Aife, the next ruler of Luathbas.

Your country has just lost a very bloody war and a ton of agreements with other powers mean your Treasury will be constantly drained.

Quote
1to2

Your people are extremely angry at this defeat. Not only their belief in the superiority of your Army mercilessly shattered, they also lost thousands of brothers, sons and husbands. The loss of recent conquest was really just the icing on this bitter, gruesome cake.

Your courtiers convene with you to discuss a different matter...

"Your Majesty, you are known to be of rather... fragile health. We wish to know if, in case something happens, you had a choice of heir already?"

A) "Of course, it will be my firstborn child."
B) "My brother Ceodwell will lead the nation after my death."
C) "My sister Eirike will lead the nation after my death."
D) "I will let the council decide, as it surely makes good decisions."

A, these fellows are certainly good sports about the whole deal. Nicer terms than the last time we got rekt by the Lametanian-Damdamian coalition.

Actually if I remember correctly you almost won but H2 got shot at last moment, but still the coalition decided to call quits v;
