You decide to let the brave ones run out and wreack havoc. Most if not all Pantheon zealots agree to form the core of the group.

Quote
1*

The thousand or more brave subjects of Luathbas die in bloody mess with only a handful Damdamians killed and no camps smashed.

Few hours afterwards, your courtiers convene and you're asked to join the council. They murmur and whisper amongst each other for a while, before few influential ones stand up.

"Princess Aife, we ask you to begin negotiations for peace with the Damdamians. For the future of Luathbas and future of the dynasty." You decide to...

A) Convince them to keep on fighting as reinforcements are near.
B) Refuse and accuse them of defeatism.
C) Agree and send a message to the Damdamians.

Yes, but that still consumes the 'PI' that can be built in the province during the turn v; (same goes for Fleet usage for troop transportation)

You wish Ceodwell good fighting as he sets out, taking about three hundred horsemen with him.

Quote
2*

The raiding party has the unfortunate distinction of picking the most heavily defended of Damdamian camps; the bolts and arrows and ballistae making short work of the horsemen.

The remaining thirty four return, one of them carrying Ceodwell, who, bleeding from several wounds, lost counsciousness.

Quote
2

His second-in-command meets with you.

"My Queen, I have bad news to tell you. I'm pretty sure that some of our riders were captured and there were few high ranking officers and noblemen of certain standing in your court amongst those who rode with us. They had knowledge of our battle strategy and the knowledge of incoming Dahnian reinforcements."

"So Damdamians know about them too?" The officer remains silent, which is enough of an answer for you.

Quote
5

Few hours later the head of the group of healers caring for Ceodwell visits you in your war chambers.

"I have some good news, Your Majesty. We have taken care of Prince Ceodwell's wounds. He will live, but I advise that he stays in bed for at least a week." You thank him for the information and he leaves.

891 AD, The next morning

War horns of Damdamians sound around the palace! The Damdamians are attacking again!

Quote
2*

The city is set ablaze! From the high towers you can see the buildings standing closest to the walls smoking and exhaling tongues of flame towards the sky.

The palace does not fare better, as the heavy stones rain upon the fortified keep and the thick walls, crushing the crenellations and smashing roofs and windows.

Quote
1oh bother

As you traverse through the corridors to a safer place, suddenly you hear a thundering roar!

Someone pulls you backwards but it is too late!

The ceiling is collapsing!

...

891 AD, Several minutes later.

You hastily leave your chambers upon the news that a large stone launched from a Damdamian catapult destroyed part of the floor where your mother, Queen Elana, was last seen at.

The members of the court loudly argue with each other as some wanted to have Ceodwell in charge during the war, but he is bedridden, therefore they turn toward you for guidance and leadership.

You're Princess Aife, and you're gifted in the ways of wisdom, charisma and martial things, albeit you're known to be rather sickly since your early childhood.

"Is Queen Elena dead? Can we make Aife a Queen yet?"

"Splendid idea, let's invite Damdamians for the coronation ceremony, too!"

First order of business will have to be calming down those arguing courtiers!

Quote
6*

With ease and confidence you bring order to their blubbering, and you take control of the garrison during the siege.

The officers report that the Damdamians are rather thinly spread as of now, and that a sudden counter-attack by some of the garrison could break the current offensive.

A) "So be it, have part of the garrison fly out through the gate and wreak havoc amongst the Damdamians!"
B) "Any splitting of our already small garrison would be a grave mistake. Sit tight and perservere, everyone!"

//You have absurd luck sometimes.

You promise money and piety on top of that, and the zealots enter the palace to join its garrison.

Within two weeks, the Dahnians should arrive with their fiery throwing stones of elven design.

891 AD, Four days later

The siege begins! The city is surrounded by part of the Damdamian army while most of it navigates around it and lays siege to your palace. But look! The siege becomes an assault with trebuchets, siege towers and catapults!

Quote
6*

But the mighty walls are mighty and the dwarven runemasters recharged their powers. The ground under the siege engines cracks open and the machines crash and topple about. The Damdamians, undeterred, try with siege towers and the battering ram.

Quote
5*

But the crossbowmen and archers and the ballista on your walls and towers rain hell upon them, and the assault force thins out within hours, till the attack is broken!

891 AD, One week into the siege

The city and palace are cut off from the rest of the country. Except sporadic pelting of the palace's walls or the capital city, Damdamians believe they can starve you out.

Your son Ceodwell arrives to speak with you.

"Dear mother! I am a powerful warrior and good tactician, so let me go and conquer our enemy outside, yes!" The few militarily-inclined nobles accompanying him nod and murmur with approval.

A) "Fine, take our garrison and rout the Damdamians!"
B) "No, we stay in here and wait them out."
C) "If you must, then take some horsemen and harass the enemy's camps."

"Fine, just get those firestones and horsemen here as soon as possible." The diplomat bows deeply in respect.

"It is a true pleasure to conduct business with you, Queen Elana. I will return to inform King Tinwulf of the deal's details at once."

891 AD, Next morning

The distant but still awfully loud blaring of the 57 trumpets of the Pantheon wake you up better than your bedchamber maids do. The guards report sighting of a unit about thousand strong, bearing banner of the Pantheon, approaching the palace from the northeast.

A horse rider, clad both in the flowing robes of Pantheon as well as a chainmail, rode up to the gates and has just asked for audience. You hastily dress up and meet with him.

"May the Pantheon forever has you in good fortunes, Queen Elana, Lady of the Faith! I am Oigwar, Second Priest of War, Holder of the Sacred Scabbard, Annointed by Priests of Death! By the order of the Archpriest, me and one thousand two hundred fifty other brave faithful shall take up the chainmail and the swords and the axes, and we shall protect the heart of Luathbas from the harbringers of the heresy, and we offer our lives to the Queen, to the Luathbas, and to its people. Death to the Damdamians!" He then pauses, and thinks for a moment, as he clearly has just remembered something else.

"The Archpriest also acknowledges that he is sending us to possibly certain death, and therefore asks you to consider sacrificing wealth upon the gods of harvest for next three autumns in exchange for our loyalty."

A) -
B) "Consideration is what I shall give about this offer, but I promise nothing."
C) "Truly, I will not only sacrifice wealth but also personally pray in front of the holiest of altars in return for your glorious service. Death to the Damedian heresy!"

You decide to buy the horsemen and the firestones in exchange for Duchy of Tven.

Quote

The diplomat rubs his chin.

"Ah, that would be fine but I fear it will be a bit too little for my good King. What say you about a singular amount of tribute to be sent with me back to Dahnia?"

A) "Fine, just get those firestones and horsemen here as soon as possible."
B) "No, Duchy only, and I can give up on the horsemen to make the deal better."
C) "No, Duchy only, and I can give up on the elven firestones, too."
D) "Bah, you can then go away to your King with empty hands."

You respond with expletives and staunch declaration of defiance! Then you order the guards to toss the Damdamians out, but the senator stands up.

"It won't be necessary. We will leave on our own." He then salutes you, but gives you no blessings of his god.

In the late evening you receive a report from Augas.

Quote
2

The re-captured outposts were lost, and few cities surrendered to the Damdamians. The Governor concludes his report with a pledge to not give up the province so easily.

891 AD, Two days later

Scouts report that the Damdamians are on the move! This time, the majority of their army - various estimates putting them between 6 to 7 thousand strong - are marching straight for the capital of Luathbas while three smaller units about thousand each besiege largest walled cities to their flanks. The Damdamians will be in sights of the palace in about five days.

But just as you're about to convene a military council, a guard informs you that an emissary from Dahnia has arrived.

You have him thoroughly checked before he is let in for an audience.

"May the Gods smile upon you, Queen Elana. I come in this dark hours of Luathbas to inform you that King Anktuk sent me to negotiate."

"Negotiate for what?"

"King Anktuk offers a bundle of twenty elven firestones plus the swords and lances of two thousand Dahnian horsemen in exchange for yearly tribtue for next few years plus ceding of the Duchy of Tven to the Dahnia." You shush the courtiers who grumble at the obvious fact that not that long ago the Dahnians relinquished any claims on the Duchy. Then, you decide to ask what the elven firestones exactly are.

"It is what the elves used agianst us. We have captured a certain number of these and twenty is what King Anktuk is willing to part with. It is easily to set them aflame and then you just toss them at your enemies, whereupon the stone bursts into several tongues of green flame, that, as we've found hard way, is difficult to extinguish." You ponder the choices, what to procure and what to pay with for them...

As for the offered 'items'...

A) Accept both the elven firestones and the services of two thousand Dahnian horsemen.
B) Accept the bundle of twenty elven firestones. Hopefully they will be enough to break Damdamian war spirit.
C) Accept the services of the Dahnian horsemen, as numbers are most important.

As for the form of payment...

A) Duchy of Tven will change hands as will the money - we can't be scrooges in those difficult times.
B) You can give away the Duchy but the money needs to stay to cover your other expenses in the coming years.
C) They can have the money, but the Duchy shall remain in your control.

Stand-alone option: D) You refuse to make any deals with the Dahnian and wish him a pleasant journey home.

//Remember, no split options - unless you pick stand-alone option D, of course.

You send a messenger under flag of truce and offer negotiations to the Damdamians in the south.

891 AD, Late Autumn

After almost two weeks, a group of fifty Damdamians approaches the capital city; an envoy and his guards. He is taken to a tower at the outer walls of the city, where you meet with him in a small chamber.

"May Damed provide you with long live and prosperity, Queen Elana. I am Caus Ticus, Senator of the Militari, by the will of the Senate and People of Damdamia, representative in power to conduct negotiations with you." He wears some peculiar jewellery, all of which bearing the marks of the Cult of Damed. You briefly touch your dwarven necklace, as it feels as if its vibrating slightly which seem to indicate trouble with its magic. Its only vibrations, so the Damed trinkets might be only partially affecting your necklace.

"The Damdamian Senate has decided to finally show you that you are not as strong as you believe and that you cannot do as you wish right at our borders. The war is result of the Senate's decision."

"The Senate gave me pointers what to obtain through the negotiations, and so I say this: You will part with the conquered Chunug territories which shall become a province of Damdamian Republic, and pay a ten year tribute to the Senate for starting the war that cost us so many of our brothers' lives. Furthermore, our ally, King of beren, needs to be rewarded and for this we demand that you surrender the western parts of Luathbas, which you seized from the Adila nomads, and these lands will be added to the lands of the Kiwi." He sits at a table that was brought in earlier by your men.

"I am done. Now I'm listening to you and whatever counter-proposal you might have." You sit down at the desk. You decide to begin with...

A) Expletives and orders for the guards to toss him out, as you and Luathbas will never agree to such terms!
B) Agree to it all: the ten year tribute, and ceding of territories to both the Republic and the Kiwis.
C) Agree to the ten year tribute to compensate for the loss of life, but you won't be surrendering any territories.
D) Agree to the ten year tribute, plus you will give away lands to the Kiwi, but nothing else.
E) Agree to the ten year tribute, and you will also cede Chunug lands to the Damdamians - that's all.

Three thousand with Ceodwell and another three at Augas would be my reasonable proposal for an answer :P

Is that a ship or troop in Giblatar sea Haspen?

It's a fleet, I just used a wrong icon. Will be fixed.

Also shouldn't I have a second army in province 83

You're currently at your Max.Army limit and therefore no new Armies can be spawned at the Capital/HQs.
