You send the money to the overseer of the gold mines in the northwest and order him to expand the industries to inclue tin smelters and ironworks.

887 AD, End of the Year

Compared to the earlier years, these seem to fly past you like crazy. When the Advisor shows up with Scrolls of Kingdom Status, you know that 887 is going to end soon.

Happiness: 5
Population: 5
Economy: 6
Army: 7

You munch on a dried apple, almost done perusing the pape-

Wait a moment...

"What's this small writing down there at the end of the list of royal expenses and investments for this fiscal year?" The Advisor leans toward the scrolls and squints.

"It says there it is for the care of Oliphaunts, their herbal medicines and payments for their traineers and payments of the Gubta war engineers now serving in our Army."

"That much?? And I wasn't told about this because?" The Advisor rubs his neck.

"It's the Gubta emissary's fault, surely." You squint eyes at the Advisor and then look down at the papers.

A) Bleeeh. Fine, I will let them get away with this.
B) Ffff- time to send an angry letter to the Gubtas!

You agree to the selling of the half of Khosra to the Gubta in exchange for the fearsome Oliphaunts and siege engineers.

887 AD, Mid-Spring

You hear that the exchange of ownership of Khosra went without any major disturbances or protests amongst the subjugated Parsians. Maybe they just don't care.

887 AD, Summer

The mighty Oliphaunts have arrived in the capital city where a special stable is being constructed there under the guidance of Oliphaunt master trainer Amhal Nub Kalikaa and his workers. A group of hundred of Gubtian engineers in the meanwhile begun a long process of teaching Luathbas workers how to create various siege engines.

The festivals this year had only minor effect that nonetheless lifted the mood of the populace somewhat, who sure haven't had two years of festivities in a row for a long time now.

Great news from the gold mines - the profits have been again doubled thanks to the discovery of few very profitable veins of gold and tin ore in the surroundings hills!

Which brings a report from the overseer - the miners have been often finding small clusters of gemstones as well as some minor deposits of iron and tin ore, but without functioning smithy industry they sell these unworked stones for some side profits for their pockets. The manager is therefore asking if the Crown would be willing to expand the smelting industry at the mines and invest in some skilled craftsmen and workers. That of course means that some money might be needed, plus as the new branch of industries is set there might be some minor disruptions to the mining schedules next year.

A) Toss some money to get more money in the long run? Count me in!
B) Nah, let's not waste money on things that might potentially not pay off.

And with this triplepost I announce that

WAITLIST IS OPEN!

"But Haspen, you already have 8 players?" Yes, but circumstances change and someone might not be able to play any more. Therefore, I will poke people on the Waitlist and ask them if they want to take that person's place to ensure that the games moves on!

OOC Thread is here! Discuss gameplay and report errors there, pls!

Pre-1914 (Turn 0)

It is time to deploy your troops (in your Provinces) and navies (dock them at Ports or deploy to Seas adjacent to those Ports), and conduct pre-game diplomacy - alliances and trade agreements, as well as secret talks about whom to stab first...

I remember that a part of Parsia was once a very popular trading hub. What happened to it?

That's Augas, and that's still contributing yearly trade tax revenues to Luathbas treasury even today '<.

You agree to this particular deal with Tinwulf and the envoy walks off with your Treasurer to talk business.

The Gubta emissary walks in, bows, then smiles to you. You see that he is wearing, like any other Gubtian emissary, lavishly decorated and brightly colored clothing, but suprisingly, this Gubtian has no translator slave at his side.

"May you be blessed, Queen Elana. I am Mustad Kummin Kasha Tumerikjoos, and I bring a proposal from our Emperor, blessed be his hallowed name." His Luathbasian is near perfect. "You own the lands of Khosra, which once belonged to the Parsians, but before that they belonged to the Gans, the ancient tribes that once moved east and became the Gubta. Our Emperor, blessed be his hallowed name, wishes to procure the land of Khosra, along with its Parsian inhabitants, in exchange for some things that might interest your people."

"And what would that be?" Asks the Advisor as the courtiers begin to chat and murmur.

"We have heard that your soldiers admired both our Oliphaunts and our siege work, therefore we wish to send you ten Oliphaunt females and five males, along with a team of trainers and breeders who know they craft well. Also we would send our engineers to serve in your Army, so that you would have ballista and rock throwers and siege hammers and oil spitters to use against your foes. The Emperor, blessed be his hallowed name, is however not willing to negotiate in terms of wealth, for reasons I shall not speak about." The courtiers murmur, awaiting your decision - and you decide to...

A) Sell northern Khosra in exchange for Oliphaunts and siege engineers.
B) Dismiss the envoy as you do not sell land your soldiers paid blood for.

You ask the guards to bring in the emissary from King Tinwulf first.

The man, dressed in fur cloak and a colorful woolen cape, bows in respect.

"Greetings, Queen Elena of Luathbas! My master, King Tinwulf, wishes for us to forever settle the matter of the Duchy of Tven. The family of the Duke is tied to our family thanks to the machinations of late Queen Sela, while your branch of the Houlandine family are the rightful conquerors of its land. Therefore he wants to know if you're interested in securing the land for ourselves for a small donation to the Dahnian Treasury. For it, King Tinwulf would readily produce a document in which he and his descendants forever resign any claims to the Duchy. If you're interested, I'm ready to speak with your Treasurer."

A) "Fine, we can part with some gold if the Dahnian King is willing to give up the Duchy."
B) "Nay, we already own it, and if Tinwulf tries anything funny, he will regret it!"

Another year of celebrations and festivals will do.

887 AD, Spring

Right after the usual new year's eve ceremony that begins the Spring, the guards inform you that there are two delegates awaiting audience with you. One is from the Gubta, speaking about purchasing some land from you, and the other is from King Tinwulf of Dahnia, and he wants to talk about Duchy of Tven.

A) Let's have a chat with the Gubta emissary first.
B) First we shall speak with the envoy from Dahnia.
