You have the Spymaster prepare a false message for the envoy who is then sent to the Chunug.

886 AD, Midsummer

Terrible droughts intermixed with short bursts of heavy storms and hail mark the weather patterns of this summer. The crops are ruined and the farmers already bemoan the shortages of food that will be evident in the coming months. People across the country ask the Crown to do something about it.

A) Pep them up with nice words of encouragement about the upcoming fasting period.
B) Send forth envoys to procure foodstuffs from abroad so your people don't have to suffer.

Wait a minute, isn't that tribe aligned with the republic?

Theoretically.

Is yours.

You decide to host some festivals.

886 AD, Spring

The Ramo are no more; King Beren concluded his campaign and most of the remaining Ramo were absorbed by the Huljan.

886 AD, Mid-Spring

Your eldest daughter and heiress to the throne of Luathbas, Aife, has become bedridden with the terrible cold and fever.

Much to your worry, the fever develops into inflammation of the lungs after few days.

After a week of care and healing, your daughter gets better. You, along with the court, breathe in relief.

886 AD, Summer

An Adila spy was caught in the Western Luathbas! The troop that captured him report this as he was carrying message to the leaders of Chunug tribe, asking for return of the Chunug into the Adilan fold.

The court gathers to ponder about this development. In the end, you decide to...

A) Send an envoy to the Chunug, telling them lies about the message.
B) Do nothing but sneakily get rid of the messenger and the message.
C) Pre-emptively invade Chunug so they cannot join up with the Adila.

You step out of your carriage to face booing and shouts and expletives.

You urge the people for calm and some vegetables are thrown at you.

But you take only a while to compose yourself and then try again, this time managing to grab enough attention to plead with your people to calm down and return to their beloved ones. The speech, with the magic of the dwarven necklace to boot, had some effect as the people start to disperse without your guard intervening.

A little time later you can continue your journey to the Palace.

885 AD, Winter

A report comes from the goldmines - they've hit a very profitable vein and gold is flowing into the Treasury this year!

885 AD, End of the Year

You sit in the throne room, contemplating how relatively peaceful this year was, compared to the previous ones. Then the Advisor comes, hauling those scrolls of his, and you gotta get back to work.

Happiness: 3
Population: 5
Economy: 5
Army: 6

The Advisor coughs.

"Your Highness, we're doing quite well but the mood of the populace is a bit low. Mayhaps we should sponsor some festivals and other venues to lift the spirits of your subjects?"

A) "Sure, we haven't had celebrations in several years. Time for festivals and feasts!"
B) "No, let's not go into spending craze just because we got some coin in the Treasury."

Bump? Bump, because I say so.

You decide to personally attend the ceremony.

Within a week your carriage and entourage arrive in the Kingdom of Dahnia, first time a Luathbas head of state visiting any of the northern kingdoms for about a century (that little incident in Tven doesn't count).

You're welcomed by King Tinwulf but he doesn't seem interested in talking with you that much. From what you gather it seems that Tinwulf is a hot-blooded man with sharp tongue and equally sharp military mind. The funeral is a grand one attended by hundreds of noblemen of various rank.

However, the courtiers accompanying you exchange rumors en masse with their Dahnian counterparts and during a talk with your nobles during journey home, you earn some important bits of knowledge:

Tinwulf has apparently refused the offer to marry Anwynn, sister of Duke Tven, several times, even after being begged to do it by his late moter.

Also, elfs haven't been bothering Dahnia as of late, not even with assassins and other spies.

Also also, while Queen Sela was open to letting Singularists in, the majority of the court and population is highly traditional, keeping to their Dahnian Pantheon - there have already been tensions between Dahnians and Luathbas heretics in the alleys.

Also also also, there's a strong desire by Ruzians to separate themselves from Dahnian rule, although they have no means to accomplish that.

885 AD, Mid-Autumn

As you ride your carraige closer to the capital of Luathbas some peasants and other lowlies surround the hundred-strong procession! You hear shouts that accuse you of 'sending our sons and husbands to death', 'squandering the wealth of Houlandines' and 'conspiring with Singularist heretics'. The captain of the guard offers to have his men disperse the crowd with force at your command.

A) Order the captain to have th crowd dispersed as the crowd surely is out of its mind.
B) Step outside the carriage and talk with your subjects, trying to calm them down.

A group of twenty was to be sent southwards to kill Jann the Choosen and thus lead his 'army' to the beginning of its end.

Quote

Not only they deal with Jann but kill some of his most dedicated men also, throwing the rebel horde into disarray! The courtiers gather the next day, and during the debate it is decided to send in the Army.

Within two weeks the rebellion is over; after killing few hundred of the rebels, the rest fled, hiding away in thier homes or turning themselves in in exchange for mercy.

885 AD, Autumn

The distant relative of your royal family, Queen Sela of Dahnia, have passed away in her sleep, aged 59. She had ruled over her Kingdom for over forty years, marrying into House of Dahnia after the failed civil war in Luathbas, and more than half of was a lone reign as her husband died in the 860s.

There will be a big funeral as the Dahnians mourn their late Queen, and the procedings will be led by her son and next King of Dahnia, Tinwulf. There's a discussion amongst the courtiers about how to approach this event, but you decide to...

A) Send a letter of condolences to King Tinwulf.
B) Send a delegation of nobles and courtiers to attend the funeral ceremony.
C) Personally attend the funeral along with your courtiers, nobles and children.

You sign the documents proclaiming the end of the campaign in the west.

Congratulations! Queen Elana successfully concludes a military campaign!

Even before the orders reached the West, peoples across Luathbas, especially mothers and wives, began celebrating the end of hostilities.

884 AD, Midwinter

The Army returned to central Luathbas and already begun working to return to previous, numerous and strong, state.

884 AD, End of the Year

The advisor brings the Scrolls of Kingdom Status during a lazy, chilly morning.

Happiness: 3
Population: 5
Economy: 3
Army: 5

"The overall lack of major fights against the Adila, plus the amount of supplies left from earlier procurement, has left our Army in a relaxed state. However, people across the land are angry and the Treasury continues to be in the low numbers. Normally I would offer raising taxes or spending money on festivals, but this time we have to carry on without such measures." You agree with the Advisor. He then snaps his fingers and two young courtiers bring up a large scroll, opening it up before you.

"Travelers and scouts sent westwards during the campaign have brought some informaiton and thus the royal scribes had our map updated with some western additions. Land of the dwarves is still beyond our reliable reach, my Queen."

885 AD, Summer

There is some unrest in the southern lands!

Apparently thousands of people, angry about the wars, taxes, mobilization and treatment of Pantheonists in the north have formed an armed horde that is occupying the city of Tinnenwach! And, according to the reports, the city garrison have killed the mayor, imprisoned the high military officers and joined the rebels.

This whole horde is under control of an excommunicated zealot, Jann the Choosen, who, styling himself as 'Savior of Luathbas', is now gathering his ragged forces to march onto the capital city.

The spymaster is summoned for explanation.

"Apologies, Queen Elana." He bows his head. "It appears it was a spontanous uprising as anything properly planned would have let my agents to warn us." Nonetheless, this is a very bad time for a rebellion to occur. During a council with courtiers and officers alike, it is decided that...

A) A letter pleading for calm and unity will be sent to the rebels.
B) Army shall be sent to deal with this problem violently.
C) Assassins-slash-mercenaries will be sent to kill Jann the Choosen.

The Treasurer quickly begins drawing a tax ation plan for the dwarven merchants in Luathbas.

884 AD, Late Autumn

The tax plan has been sent to dwarves; their representatives have agreed to it, finding it rather reasonable.

884 AD, Winter

The commanders from the West send another report; besides few run-ins with Adila scouts or raiders, there has been no activity. Therefore they ask if it is time to conclude the campaigning and, after setting up garrisons and such, return to Luathbas?

A) Sure, it's been two long years and it's about time to call it done.
B) Nay! Adila are lurking behind the border, it's matter of time till they return in force!

The dwarves mumble with each other, then bow and leave.

The Advisor quickly walks up to you and bows.

"Are we actually going to tax the dwarves now?"

A) "Yes, inform the Treasurer to make up some taxation plan for dwarves at once!"
B) "Nah, it was just a little threat to make them think."

No, alchemizing is same action as dancing, stealing, lockpicking etc.
