You declare an emergency mobilization and have the Army march westwards to ensure that none of the recently captured lands will be reconquered by the Adila!

The commanders murmur for a while, some fidget awkwardly before the Marshal rubs his chin.

"Will Your Majesty lead her soldiers in battle?"

A) "No, I have no skill nor desire for military leadership."
B) *unsheathe knife* I THOUGHT YOU WOULD NEVER ASK!"

"Aye, start with the taxation."

883 AD, Spring

As promised, the new Duke of Tven have decided upon his new bride. It is Tuega, granddaughter of Queen Sela! With his wife and his step-mother both amongst Sela's relatives, your influence upon the Duke will be nothing but formal (even if you're his aunt).

However, the family scheming will have to be put away. The Adila Khanate have invaded your lands in the west! The messenger who brought the message have first warned the Kiwi, who had to re-deploy his armies in a crescent, from Rainbow Lizard Mountains down to the edges of your western lands.

The messenger says that its hard to estimate the Adila horde that struck far-western Luathbas, but it is definitely within ten thousand.

During emergency meeting with your courtiers and military commanders, you decide to...

A) Forsake the conquered lands and instead devote your Army to protection of the fledging New Kiwi Kingdom.
B) Call up emergency mobilization and send all your forces west to protect the lands gained by your late husband!
C) Send most of your Army westwards to protect your holdings, or at least try to.
D) Send an envoy to the Adila Khan, promising him mountains of wealth if he and his lackeys finally leave your country alone!

You write him a letter, offering him the hand of your niece, Ciri.

The reply comes in a week - the young Duke has trouble deciding but promises to announce his decision by next Spring.

882 AD, Late Winter

The censuses are in; it seems that the population across luathbas has increased in the last years, no doubt thanks to the wellbeing of the people and bontiful harvests.

882 AD, End of the Year

Like a year ago, the advisor brings Scrolls of Kingdom Status for your perusal.

Happiness: 6
Population: 5
Economy: 3
Army: 6

"My Queen, the expenses we had this year-"

"My husband deserved that funeral!" You glare at the Advisor, who bows his head.

"Of course. Like I was saying, the expenses have strained our Treasury somewhat. Mayhaps we should raise the taxes for a year?"

A) "Nay!"
B) "Aye!"

Thanks for morning count-up, Puppyguard, you get a cookie.

You thank the Spymaster for this information and then send the Archpriest a letter describing the growing numbers of the Sect and that he is allowed to deal with them.

Few days later you receive a reply; the Archpriest is pleased that you think of the religious security of your nation too and promises to do his best to get rid of the sect in the northlands.

882 AD, Midwinter

After a horse ride through the local forests with some of your courtiers, you happen to develop a cold and some mild fever.

After some hot chicken broth and a night under pile of blankets, you feel much better.

Few days later, an emissary from Kingdom of Tven arrives; Duke of Tven, the one that married your sister Igrid, has died after a lenghty illness. His son, and your nephew, Ainach, have became the next Duke.

Apparently, Queen Sela has already sent him a bethrothal proposal, intending to marry him to one of her many grandchildren.

A) Send him an alternative proposal, offering the hand of one of your nieces. Ciri, perhaps.
B) And that's fine, as long as you're concerned.
C) Tell him that as your vassal he should listen to what you say, and you say he shouldn't be marrying yet, there will be better proposals.

You announce that while the merits of the Governor of Augas are many and formidable, you cannot let a single man be both a governor and a nobleman.

The envoy turns around and leaves, amidst snickering and hushed giggling of some of the courtiers.

882 AD, Mid-Autumn

You receive a report that King Beren's army suffered a thorough beating at a battle with the Ramo at the early days of Autumn, but now it seems the Kiwis regrouped and will try to push again.

882 AD, Late Autumn

You hear rumors that Governor of Augas openly and publicly bemoaned that deeds of his family were tossed away as if they were insignificant scraps on the dinner plate of history.

Or something like that. He didn't go further with his dissatisfaction, however.

Also, the young Sela, your niece and wife of King Beren of Kiwi, gave birth to his second child! A healthy boy she named Eitwelf - future heir to the throne of Kiwi.

882 AD, Winter

The Spymaster tips his hat, showing himself from the shadow of the corridor that you just passed by. What's with the creepy entrances, honestly...

"My Queen, an urgent report for you?"

"I'm listening."

"My Queen, I am afraid to inform you that, despite best efforts of your family, the Sect of One continues to fester under the skin of Luathbas like a badly healed wound. While no important personas seem to support the Sect or belong to it on the side, my agents' compiled numbers put the Sect atfive thousand members, at least."

"Anything you propose we do?" The Spymaster nods and tells you about few options. You decide to...

A) Do nothing, as clearly the Sect won't get eradicated - so why continue to try?
B) Send a letter to the Archpriest, telling him of the situation and allowing him to deal with the Sect with his loyal zealots.
C) Send your agents to some leaders of promiment Sectarian gatherings to make them 'disappear'.

Laura glanced at Harlan and Kyle who boarded right after her, as she could swear she heard the thief grumble her name. Fortunately for him, neither did she hear the rest, nor there were any javelins in her hands currently.

You decide to spend more time with your children, Ceodwell especially, to make sure they are properly educated and learned now that their father is dead.

882 AD, Autumn

The court murmurs as the envoy from Governor of Augas concludes his speech.

"Therefore, for all those matters I have laid before you, my liege - territory, wealth, garrison and merits of Governor's family - he is asking that you make the position of Governor of Augas not only an administrative, but an aristocratic position too." Some nobles gathered in the throne room grumble, and quite loudly at that.

The customary division in Luathbas between administrators and nobles is a simple one: nobles have connections to royal family and wealth coming from various dealings and businesses (with occassional sprinkle of mercenary troops), while governors have territorial powers and defensive forces sanctioned by the government. It had worked out nicely for past hundred eighty years, since this division was created by the first King after indepedence from long defunct Tavenian Empire.

For a governor to become a noble, it's an affront to nobles and a risk to the Crown; few men and women in Luathbas' modern history were both at once, making them almost as powerful as the Marshal or the Archpriest, so to speak.

Then again, the current Governor's father, and the Governor himself, conducted themselves exceptionally since Augas was captured, safely guiding it through years of war and years of peace.

After an inner debate, you decide to...

A) Not allow a single man to wield so much power. 'Governor of Augas' shall remain as a purely administrative title.
B) Bestow upon family of the Governor of Augas the title of a 'Lord', or, to be more specific, 'Lord-Governor of Augas'.
