You ask the Spymaster to send agents into Rama and Huljan to gather information about those elven advisors. Anything could be useful.

879 AD, End of the Year

The advisors brings the Scrolls of Kingdom Status to the council room after you finish debating with the palatial head of staff about refurbishing the guest chambers.

"I had bad news, sire. The Treasurer, after tallying the numbers from trade with Gubta, had come to conclusion that the special route that our merchants maintain on our behalf is making less and less money each year. This year the profits were negligible, so only the Augasian trade revenues and the goldmines are our main sources of income at the moment."

Happiness: 5
Population: 4
Economy: 4
Army: 5

The numbers are somewhat low, but they aren't terrible either.

880 AD, Spring

There are multiple reports coming from the south. Border outposts and more loyally-inclined travelers mention sighting various group of Damdamian soldier groups; mounted scouts, patrol groups, armed messengers and some of the Lametanian towns also seem to have more soldiers on the streets than usual. The Damdamian side of the border with Province of Lametania is abuzz with activity.

Based on these reports, you decide to...

A) Convene with the Marshal and other high-ranking officers and explain them what you know.
B) Maintain current level of alertness and troop disposition in the south.

You decide to call the campaign to its conclusion.

879 AD, Midwinter

Manager of the goldmines in the northwest couldn't send you better news - this year the mines hit a real motherlode of gold nuggets and the profits to the Treasury has been vastly increased.

You also became a grand-uncle! Sela, your niece, have given birth to Beren's first child (or at least first that your court knows of), a girl named 'Cyna'.

879 AD, Late Winter

It sure is an eventful winter! Just now travelers from the south brought news that Damdamians begun warring with Adila on the fields and flatlands. The Damdamian allies, the Chunug Tribe, is however being kept - or keeps itself - out of the conflict for now.

News of more disturbing kind came from the west. The Ramo Khanate, a big splotch northwest of the Kiwi, suffered a split between two brothers; one, called Tama, more leaning toward traditional saddle style of live, the other, Huljan, more leaning toward settled style of living. The two begin warring with each other, and that wouldn't be very surprising, if not for Huljan's allies - apparently, some Elves are amidst his closest advisors! You decide to...

A) Send an offer to Tama of closing ties against, to name it, 'a common enemy'.
B) Have the Spymaster send agents to get info from and about the elves working with Huljan.
C) Do nothing at the moment but wait patiently for situation to develop.

Also, the royal cartographers have finished updating the map of Luathbas and its neighbours; the last decade was tumultous (last two years in particular!) and the map sure shows that.

You attempt to convince them to give in to pressure from the Gubta.

"This shall hurt our profits, but we will try to watch our manners better in the land of Gubta." The merchant representatives slowly recede from the throne room, some murmuring amongst themselves.

879 AD, Winter

The Army, or rather, the Marshal, brings you a report.

In the report there are written that, due to harsh and freezing winter in the flatlands, there are many instances of misbehavior amongst the troops in there, grumbling about high casualty rate and the fact that most of the ones remaining are emergency conscripts, which further fuels the low morale.

"And what you suggest, dear Marshal?" He adjusts his cape.

"We can always send more supplies and money although I assume the Treasurer won't part easily with his money. Or you can send the draftees home earlier than the mobilization ends, but if you do that I will have to ask you to conclude the campaign and allow the Army to take on more guard duties to protect our gains from Adila raids and to protect our southern border from Damdamians, who already stir in the south."

A) "Yes, extra coin for drinks and warm blankets, is what our soldiers need! I shall have someone sent to inform the Treasurer."
B) "Alas, none of these options really work, in my opinion. We, and our soldiers, will have to prevail."
C) "Indeed, we did enough damage and gained enough land. Recall those sent during the summer, and the rest shall garrison the captured keeps and outposts."

Agreeing with merchants means Feodh's gonna send another letter to Gubta demanding cuts.

You thank the envoy and promise to get it sorted out. They leave smiling.

879 AD, Late Autumn

The Army reports having moved westwards, liberating few settlements and skirmishing with small groups of the Adila several times.

The representatives of over thirteen merchant clans come together to discuss the matter of improprieties. It takes them four hours in your throne room to list all the achievements of their merchants, state the numbers and types of goods they procured, how they behaved rather well and only spurned some beggars as beggars are carriers of disease and nothing else.

"And therefore, we finally ask you, King Feodh, that you once again talk with the Gubta and allow our trade to go uninterrupted and their silly taxed lowered. Otherwise, we will stop providing taxes and goods to the Treasury and instead look out for ourselves in the east!" You decide to...

A) Threaten them.
B) Plead with them.
C) Agree with them.

You decide to bid your time.

879 AD, Mid-Autumn

The Army have met with the Adila once again, a host of 5000 horsemen against 4000 Luathbas soldiers. Thanks to the tactics of your commanders, the army won, but casualties were small on both sides. Slightly more than 500 Luathbas soldiers were killed in the fighting.

Also, emissary from Gubta have arrived! The fat man in gaudily colored robe steps into your throne room along with a translator, per usual Gubta custom.

"My master, Duran Tumerik Imho Duranjoos, deposits his greetings and awe for the constant stability and prosperity of the Luathbas nation. My master is here to tell you that our Emperor, blessed be his hallowed name, have decided to end the trade dealings with your merchants. These unruly, loud men do not pay proper foreigner taxes nor they respect the temple beggars. Even the dwarves, whom became our newest and best trading partners we had in a while, have not offended the Emperor's, blessed be his hallowed name, divine ancestors in such a way. That is why our coinmasters have increased the base tax on the products that your merchants procure at our markets."

A) Attempt to negotiate lowering of the taxes, as the profits must flow to Luathbas Treasury, especially in current times of warfare.
B) Thank the envoy, and send for the Luathbas merchants or their representatives, as there is talking to be done.

You personally attend the mass led by Archpriest, which doesn't happen often as you simply don't have time for more than quick prayers compared to this four hours long praying and chanting marathon.

The Archpriest says afterwards that the Gods were appeased.

879 AD, Autumn

The Army reports that the newly arrived reinforcements already saw their battlefield baptism when a force of 4000 horse archers attacked the main camp. Luathbas soldiers, despite somewhat large casualties, held firmly and sent the Adilans running.

Meanwhile, the agents bring you some news; apparently Wrexus Magnibus has been concentrating most of Lametanian defense forces in the north of the province. You decide to...

A) Recall the Army from the west and move it to southern Luathbas.
B) Do nothing but wait, making an illusion of weakness in the south.

You ask for the group of priestessess devoted to God of Healing to come and hold prayers for little Aife.

Quote
6but why

She wakes up painless and feeling fine three days later! The healers say that after few weeks of care and good eating she will be back to prior shape. The courtiers murmur excitedly while your wife praises the Gods and urges you to reward the Pantheon lavishly for their help. You decide to...

A) Donate lots of money onto altars of the Pantheon gods and godessess.
B) Personally attend a mass led by Archpriest to show your piety to the people.
C) Do nothing as clearly it was a show of Houlandines' endurance and resilience.

We're getting late, quick!

Ask yourself in 2018 a few questions, to do so, post them here in a day from thread creation, then see the thread getting locked and wait exactly one year!

We're really late this year, but tradition gotta tradition!

Decked in a gauss flak, micrometeorite gun and upgraded shields, I thought I can take on three Urluquai fighters with their zap guns.

Fucking Urluquai and their zapguns decided otherwise though: first zapgun hit disabled my flak, second disabled my upgraded shields, and then I got zapped into space debris.

Emergency mobilization is called thorough the country and youths and peasants and out-of-service family men are called to arms and sent west.

879 AD, Late Summer

Your eldest daughter, Aife, caught the deadly swamp fever that kills 9 children out of 10.

Quote
4

The swamp fever subsides after five days but it has left your daughter in terrible pains as her insides are left a terrible, malfunctioning mess, your healers say. They might be able to treat her to give her few more weeks (maybe even a month or two), but on other hand you already heard rumors in the court that the girl's painful existence should not be prolonged. Your wife cries her eyes out all day, dreading each passing hour, as they might bring terrible news.

You decide to...

A) Have the healers administer a sleeping agent and then quickly acting poison to Aife so she may die peacefully.
B) Order the healers to try every healing herb they have, as you won't let your daughter die that early!
C) Ask the Priestesses of the God of Healing to make a 24/7 vigil and prayer sessions over your daughter, maybe the Pantheon will listen at least once to your pleas.
