You order the guards to toss the impertinent youth into the dungeon.

Quote
1to3

In a display of luck, combativeness or both, the youth manages to wound, disarm or otherwise disable eight of the guards present in the throne room!

He quickly re-points his rapier at you.

"Avast with ye, tyrant! Pass the crown to me willingly, and I shall let you live! Resist, and I shall gladly take it from your cold, dead hands!"

A) Duel it is!!
B) Surrender the Crown.

You demand he provides a valid claim to the throne.

Quote
3*

He then lists his ancestry and relevant laws, plus a book that you do not happen to remember reading, but dealing with special cases of exile and place in the line for the throne. Therefore you have to assume his claim, while rather shaky, is viable.

Of course, a duel is always a viable method of solving such disputes, no matter the strength of the claim. After a moment of thinking, you decide to...

A) Grab a blade and defend your rights in a fair duel!!
B) Pass him the Crown of Luathbas as the accusations against his father might've been just as well fabricated by your paranoid father, Houlandin III.
C) Have the guards get rid of the kid before he ruins your day even more so.

You agree to let them create tradeposts and workshops in few places, which will let them safely manage their crafts and trades on the routes from west to east, through your capital and, most importantly, through your Treasury, the dwarves having agreed to pay bilennial tax. They will be subjects to Luathbas law although with several exemptions, especially in fields of commerce and customs (and worship).

875 AD, Autumn

While you're debating with your courtiers about the importance of velvet pillows in the traditional Courting Dance, suddenly a young man in chainmail swings on a rope through the window and brandishes a rapier at your face.

"At last! Vile usurper, you shall die by my hand! For I am Dagan, son of Tvadar, and I have come to regain the throne that rightfully belongs to me and my mother!!"

A) Have the guards get rid of the kid before he ruins your day even more so.
B) Grab a blade and defend your rights in a fair duel!!
C) Ask him to provide the legal proof behind his claim, considering his father was exiled for apparent assasination schemes.
D) Pass him the Crown of Luathbas as the accusations against his father might've been just as well fabricated by your paranoid father, Houlandin III.

You offer to defend Koi if they submit to Luathbas as vassals.

Quote
2*ahahah, my luuungs

The emissary glares at you.

"That is the most insulting offer ever heard by my ears, and my ears heard a lot. Goodbye." Then he turns around on his heels and stomps off. The dwarves are let in soon afterwards.

The smelly creatures do not look like dirty crafters; instead, they have rather impressive broadth of their sides, neatly kept beards and their cloaks look as if cleaned often.

And they don't even stink - is that lavender perfume you smell?

"Greetings, King of Luathbas!" The leader of the group, with triple-forked cinnamon beard and bald head, bows graciously. "I am Kobar, son of Alath, and I bring offer of friendship and commerce between our two nations. Rarely we find amongst humans colleagues in enterprise and appreciation for crafts of metal and jewels, and even rare are those who repay us with knowledge instead of simple gold and silver and platinum and copper. Thus, the King of the Inkorb, have sent us to ascertain whether you would be interested in allowing our kin to settle down in your capital, to facilitate services to your courtiers, and, to be honest, secure the profitable trade with those Gubta of the east." The courtiers murmur excitedly; and from your history books you know that it's exceedingly rare for dwarves to be that friendly to non-dwarves and foreigners.

A) Allow them to set up a trade post or something of the sort in capital city, under partial control of the Treasury.
B) Reject the proposal as the Damdamians/Elves/[insert political group here] will sure don't like it.
C) Allow them to set up trade posts and workshops as long as they are willing to pay taxes every so often.
D) Allow the dwarves to freely settle and trade in Luathbas as if they were its citizens.

You decide to meet with the emissary from Koi first.

The emissary enters, approaches the throne with his head bowed and then looks at you.

"My lord, Duke of Koi, have sent me here to ask whether you would like to provide his lands with protection that the Adila cannot provide anymore. He has heard of the mighty and prowess of Luathbas Army, and deducted there's no better force to turn towards seeking aid."

A) Agree to defend the Duchy of Koi if the Duke pays well for the mercenary aid.
B) Refuse as you do not wish to incur the wrath of the Khanate tribes.
C) Agree to defend the Duchy of Koi if the Duke declares himself a vassal of Houlandines and swears fealty to Luathbas Throne.

You decide to increase the Army's budget, while not asking Gubta for soldiers or calling emergency mobilization without a war going on.

...

"Sire, there's also one more thing?"

"Yes?"

"How many Xmas Trees are we to decorate this year?"

"As many as there is bay12 people providing votes on the future of Luathbas and the dynasty!" Then they all stand up.

"Merry Xmas and Happy New Year, folks!"

876 AD, Summer

The guards inform you that there's a dignitary from Duchy of Koi in need of audience with you, plus a group of dwarves that wish to speak with you.

A) Let's meet with the dwarves first.
B) Let's meet with the dignitary first.

Gove began to move its armies and even constructed the first capital ships, GRS Govea and GRS Smithson at the southern harbor.

You hold an emergency council few days later.

The Marshal and other high-ranking officers of Luathbas Army debate the issue of possible Damdamian attack.

"Clearly we should call for emergency mobilization!"

"Why? We're not at war, and peasants surely won't like being called into the field when there's no actual fighting to be done."

"Maybe call in Gubtas?"

"I don't think they could be persuaded to fight wars that far from their homeland. Parsia lied between our nations while Lametania is like end of the world for Gubtas, as far as we know."

"How about we finally increase the budget ofthe Army, my liege?" Asks the Marshal, and other officers nod in agreement. "We have the mines, the trade with east; surely the Crown can afford to sponsor us more supplies, horses and better wages." The officers murmur along. You ponder these options...

As for the emergency mobilization...

A) Let's raise emergency troops just in case!
B) No mobilization, let's not rile up peasants without a reason.

As for the request of aid from Gubtas...

A) Nah, let's not get them involved, they probably won't want to get involved in the first place.
B) We came to their aid in Parsia and its about time they came to our aid against Damdamians!

As for the increases of money spent on the Army...

A) Fine; the Army needs to be supplied well if its supposed to match the might of Damdamians.
B) Naw, let's not spend all our moneys, especially after we sponsored the clergy this year already!

//Remember, no split votes.

You decide to spend the money on refurbishment of the Holy Library. Artisans and workers from across the Kingdom are called to help in this endeavour, as the library is vast and hasn't seen maintenace in decades. The clergy is approving wholeheartedly of this, and some say that even the Archpriest called you 'blessed' once or twice.

876 AD, Spring

Beren bumps into you in one of the corridors.

"I bring unfortunate news, my liege."

"Is it about Damdamians?"

"Yes. The official refused to further deal with you. Also, the governor died of heart attack and his replacement, Wrexus Magnibus, is a warmongering army veteran and a shrewd politician. I advise that you keep the Army near." He bows and absconds to his quarters.

You decide to...

A) Keep his advice in mind.
B) Call emergency council with Marshal and other officers to debate the current situation in Lametanian province.
