Forum Games and Roleplaying / Re: SPAMKINGDOM: Feodh of Luathbas!

You easily cite from memory the written records where the priests of old gave the Kings of old the power to annul the holy oath of matrimony if one of the two partners directly applies to the King (even if that's extremely rare), and your brother did so back then. Therefore, the Archpriest has no reason to interfere in this particular matter.

The Archpriest stares at you, bemused, for a while, before waving his hand.

"Still, the divorce left an impression on the people and that's why Romuald had to be moved away from power. I can see, however-" The Archpriest stands up. "That you, King Feodh, are more compliant and harmonious with traditions and religion of our land. That is satisfactory enough." He bows his head.

"It is time I rejoin my brothers and sisters. Fare thee well." And so he leaves.

In other news, you receive report from the gold mines a few days later. Apparently, the new soil holds well and the miners continue to exploit wealthy veins of gold, bringing extra profits to the Treasury this year!

875 AD, End of the Year

As you finish your morning meal, the advisor brings the Scrolls of Kingdom Status to your table:

Happiness: 7
Population: 5
Economy: 9
Army: 6

"My liege! I am pleased to announce that our Treasury is full with valuables and coinage. It would be most satisfying to see it spent on some noble or grandiose thing, don't you agree?"

A) Naaaah. *take a swim in your sea of riches!*
B) Give a coin to each peasant and vagrant in the Kingdom in a public show of generosity.
C) Hire artisans to produce a large bronze statue of you in the middle of the capital city!
D) Declare a new budget for the Army, increasing its yearly expenses but also its overall effectiveness.
E) Procure foodstuffs and send the money to poorly developed areas so that people might prosper and find new places to live for their extended families!
F) Send some of the wealth to your aunt, Queen Sela, to boost the relations between your nations.
G) Sponsor the refurbishment of the Holy Library, where holy texts both ancient and modern are stored; the clergy will sure like this!

"But of course."

"Splendid." The Archpriest smiles and nods in approval. "Evil influences of the foreign cults must be opposed within our land." He shifts in his chair a little bit.

"Now onto the topic of the divorces now that I am here discussing things with you. Can I have your written promise that you shall not break the holy bonds of matrimony instilled by the priests of oaths and marriage? I just do not wish for another such unfortunate thing happen as with your brother Romuald."

A) "If you say so."
B) Wreck him with explanation that you know from your books that the power to divorce people was given to the old Kings of Luathbas by the very priesthood long ago and therefore you don't have a grain of reason to comply iwth his request.

You explain that you're merely granting your subjects what they want to ensure their happiness and prosperity.

"I see." The Archpriest stares at you for a moment and then takes a sip of a drink.

"I heard that the southern parts of Luathbas had seen steadily increasing number of Damed's worshippers, travelers mostly amongst those, of course, but it is a reason for worry. Mayhaps your governors there did not inform you yet? So I do it now. May I have your pledge that you shall not endanger our beautiful and traditional way of life by mingling with those xenophobic, zealot scum of the south?"

A) "But of course."
B) "If the people decide to pray to some god or another, I cannot stop them."
C) "Nay! It's time for glorious religious revolution!"
D) "Maybe. Who knows, they might have good ideas to take for ourselves."

You write him a letter in which you want to make it a proper deal in public and with proper level of cooperation between the two armies, rather than making it a shallow secret. You do not mention anywhere you want to give up on this proposal.

875 AD, Late Winter

Thanks to the squeaky blaring of the 57 goat-trumpets of the Pantheon, you learn of the Archpriest's arrival before the guards even reach your throne room.

The Archpriest, as always wearing thick white robes, bows his head as he enters the council room and sits on the opposite side of the table from you. The servants bring some snacks and drinks and then the Archpriest dismisses his entourage; you dismiss the guards and servants of the palace.

"So, what brings you here, Archpriest." The middle-aged man smiles.

"It is hard to call it heresy, but you have been making inroads into workings of the Cult, King Feodh. What is it I heard, sponsoring the scribes, allowing construction of temples of rememberance?"

A) "That is not your concern, Archpriest. I don't pry into your administrative decisions, and you shouldn't into mine."
B) "I am merely responding positively to the audiences that my subjects wish for. If they want to build temples to honor my ancestors, I shall allow them; if they want to write biographies praising us, I will be most happy to let them."
C) "Make love with your arse and don't waste my time anymore, Archpriest! Luathbas and its subjects belong to Houlandines, not the Pantheon!"

Metal Marines and Super Castlevania IV are neat games that aren't mentioned often. They even have awesome soundtracks. *hums Treasury Room from SC4*

Also, Front Mission: Gun Hazard. GUNINANRUNIN showed me it and it became my fave.

Other SNES games I like are Lufia 2, Final Fantasy (IV, V, VI), plus Der Langrisser.

After a rather terrible opening to a Defend mission at Hong Kong Electronics Factory (Gennady panicked, Raphael knocked down to Yellow), I've decided to toss caution to the wind while Raphael went berserk.

So I had Maya the sniper run forward and snipe a Democrats' goon that showed up; Archer ran in front of her and dodged TWO bullets, before mowing down two students at about 50% chance of hit. Meanwhile, Raphael woke up and thanks to morale/berserk mechanic, he had 8 action points, so he ran forward and started lobbing grenades at enemies; 6 concussion grenades later, 4 LDF students, 2 officers and 2 revolutionaries were dead - that being whole secondary assault team.

Meanwhile, Archer and Maya decided to go running and gunning; window shards flying, the duo have shot down another trio of chinese. In the end, Maya finished by sniping a grenade-armed Revolutionary that tried to sneak up on Archer's blind spot.

The mission, which started awfully, ended in glorious no further wounds and all enemies dead within 10 turns. Aw fucking yeah.

You send envoys and letters to the Hurthlings refugees/immigrants/vagrants, offering them to join and settle in the lands previously occupied by the previous generation of Hurthlings.

Quote
1to2

Only few Hurthlings replied to your call; less than fifty really, most of them not related to each other. The rest, as the reports go, decided to move northwards to colder areas which are nonetheless further away from both Trolls and humans of any kind.

875 AD, Winter

Your dearest wife gave birth to a girl! She has named her 'Aifa'.

875 AD, Midwinter

Beren bumps into your in the palace gardens and hands you a scroll he pulled from his tunic.

'To Feodh of Luathbas
Your idea of combining arms against a non-human menace of Elf nation is intriguing. We have Elf people in southern Damdamia as well, where those black-skinned, blue-haired sub-humans are tending to our fruit and cacao farms. However, if your proxy is to be trusted, your Elf peoples are fair-skinned and have quite a temperament. I will therefore seek challenge-loving commanders amongst the Army of Damdamia, and see if some might be willing to work as mercenaries for you. You will of course provide them with payment and temples so that they might fulfill their religious needs toward our Lord Father.
-Dartus Fastus'

You decide to write a reply...

A) ...agreeing to the idea of Damdamian soldier-mercenaries working for you.
B) ...attempting to negotiate actual, government-regulated campaign between the two nations.
C) ...rejecting the offer as it is simply not good enough, and you don't see how they could propose anything better.

You agree to the proxy system, and Beren leaves with a nod.

875 AD, Autumn

Village elder of a settlement in extreme northeast have sent you a letter.

Apparently, hurthlings has begun 'invading' the borders of his people's farmlands; camping and foraging at the outskirts, and recently they stole a cow.

The village elder, level-headed as he is, have sent some men who dealt with the previous Hurthling generation and those managed to find out that these Hurthlings are escaping their homeland - not because of Trolls, of which there are few remaining, but rather from Kashites, who seem to have crossed the mountains repeatedly on slave raids to capture Hurthlings.

"This situation might grow worse in the future, my liege." Says the advisor. "We should take care of it now." You decide to...

A) Send a letter to the Hurthlings, offering living place amongst your subjects.
B) Send a letter to the Kashite Prince, asking him to stop the slave raids made by his people.
C) Send a letter to the village elder, letting him toss the Hurthlings out with force, if needed.

Simple tactical preplanning:

Obviously we go for abominations and TW first; the Golems have only 5 MOV so it will take a while for them to catch us if we all rush for the southern enemies v;

Ideas for post-testgame ruleset additions:

Quote
increase all techs by 1 level when it comes to RP requirements

So techs currently requiring 80 would need 120, 120 would now require 200, and so on, with Cybernetics taking 1000RP to research. Its because it's A) much easier to build infrastructure and thus Labs in EoM, and B) there is much more ways to get bigger RP bonuses going.

Quote
possible Mars victory condition: reach certain no-bonus tech and build a superimprovement in 10 turns
for example positronics and synthorganics would give you Psionics, which allow construction of Mindtower, which enslaves all enemy peeps, or a further step from Matter Transmission would be Space Fold which would allow construction of Gateway which lets you send troops anywhere on Mars in instant and thus insta-conquer all enemies :3

I guess the supertechs would require 1000RP each, and you would need about 10 Turns to complete the Superimprovements?

Thoughts? v;
