You take few steps back and clang on the door, before your brother shouts that you may enter.

The study has a desk with three chairs, few bookshelves and a deer's head mounted on the wall.

Where did the other guy go?

Your brother stares at you with a smile. "Yes?"

A) Ask him what he wanted to talk about.
B) Tell him that you know.

You thank her and head for Romuald's study.

Just as you enter, you see that your brother is getting touchy-feely... with another guy.

No wonder that Romuald had problems getting kids - he is a homosexual!!

A) -
B) Loudly break up this manly love-making.
C) Go back few steps, then clang on the open door to get his (their) attention.
D) -

You decide to get on a ride to visit your brother's manor in northern Luathbas.

During the journey, a violent thunderstorm have left your drenched and cold for few hours before an inn can accomodate you for the night.

But you only catch a mere cold before you continue on your jouney for most of the next day.

After you arrive, you enjoy a nice feast and a talk with your brother who seems a bit ashamed of having a kid, but you pep-talk him once again.

This very evening, your sister-in-law, Agrenna, catches you wandering about the manor's garden.

"My liege, I heard my husband wishes to talk with you."

"Where he is?" You ask, and Agrenna bites on her bottom lip and hums.

"Oh, I think he is in the old tower. That one." She points at one in the back. "He has his library there, you see."

A) Go speak with your brother in his study.
B) Ask Agrenna to call Romuald here, as you prefer the garden.

You have him locked in the dungeon. After all, elves are apparently long-lived - few decades in dungeon might soften the assassin's resolve.

868 AD, Late Summer

You receive a very nice letter! Your brother Romuald have finally managed to (somehow) plant his seed in Agrenna, and just a week ago, she gave birth to a healthy boy, which she named 'Caellodh', after a Luathbas hero of old who had beautiful voice and strength of titans.

A) Send a congratulatory letter to your brother and your sister-in-law.
B) Personally visit your brother to congratulate; the palace feels stuffy lately after all.

You send a reply along with a wagon full of money to the Damdamian ex-general.

The Dwarven Necklace of Persuasion arrives and its authenticity is confirmed by those who saw it.

868 AD, Midsummer

Congratulations! Your wife gave birth to yet another girl. She named her 'Una'.

Meanwhile, the Spymaster arrives to give you the report on the elven assassin's interrogation.

"My liege, the elf is uncooperative and unbroken. The only thing we got from him is that he is here to 'punish you', whatever that might mean. Shall I be allowed to use some more unscrupulous methods?"

A) Yes.
B) No.
C) Just kill him.

You tell the Spymaster to interrogate the elf as any other prisoner - the agent bows deeply.

868 AD, Summer

Miles Glorius, the next governor of Lametania, and ex-general of Republican Army, have sent you a letter in which he boasts his family's achievements and that he repalces the previous governor after his term ended.

Miles then mentions that he is selling off various riches of the governor's palace and have chanced upon a necklace inside a box labeled 'luathbas king's necklace'. He is going to pawn it to some merchants, unless you're interested in this bauble, as the Republic has no need for it.

A) Haggle for what's most possibly is your great-grandfather's charisma-boosting necklace that was lost almost half a century ago!
B) They still have it? Geez. They can sell it away if they want.

General Discussion / Re: The Dream Thread
« on: November 16, 2016, 12:21:38 pm »
I had a dream about losing my body and instead becoming a ghost that can float through walls.

I managed to infilitrate 4 different apartment blocks (surrounded by shipyards and refineries) and peek at people doing things in them:

At least 2 different couples having sex
Angry elderly woman shouting at grandchildren
Bunch of asians experimenting on a child strapped to a table
Handsome blackhaired dude posing nude for webcam
A middle-aged woman chopping onions and laughing
Bunch of teenagers doing a porn movie with studio equipment
Drunken woman in a chair with toddler crying in her arms
Empty apartment with many different cats (including a purple one)

The last one was an old lady that began to stare at me; in that moment I noticed that I started to have difficulty passing through things and after she asked 'who are you' I knew that I'm busted so I ran outside.

To make sure she won't catch me I flew across the (baltic) sea and then helped some native Lithuanians fight against bloodthristy Teutonic Knights in a pitched battle on a grassfield.

Then I woke up.

You go down to the dungeons and, with heavy guard detail and few hooded agents of the spymaster in tow, you approach the cell where the elf is kept.

You tell him to stand up, but the elf continues to sit on the floor. He did begin to stare at you intensely, however.

After next thirty minutes spent fruitlessly - asking the elf questions and receiving only silence in reply - you decide to...

A) Murder him and hang his corpse outside palace's walls.
B) Torture and maim him till he spills the beans.
C) Seek answers via usual interrogation.

You challenge her to duel to determine if she is worthy of tribute!

She laughs and draws her axe, you draw your Sky Iron Knife.

Queen Tomyra swings her sword but you duck and dodge, before you manage to stab her in the face. She howls like a wounded wolf would and staggers backwards.

After that you manage to dance around her for a while and then stab her in the back and knock her off her feet. Her men then rush to help their Queen and drag her away.

"I am Dron, second-in-command." Says one of them with impressive handlebar moustache. "You are indeed powerful, Luathbas King." Then they leave and later you receive reports that Queen Tomyra was stripped of her title, violated by her men, then chopped up and served to starving dogs. After this gruesome spectacle, the horsemen sailed forth westwards without a word.

868 AD, Mid-Spring

"The Spymaster brings great news, sire." Says the advisor as the hooded&cloaked figure besides him bows.

"My liege, my agents have captured an armed elf that was attempting to sneak into your Palace this very night. What shall we do with him? As the elves are targeting your family, I thought it would be prudent to ask you first. May I add that his pointy-eared fella isn't particularily talkative."

A) Seek answers via usual interrogation.
B) Torture and maim him till he spills the beans.
C) Murder him and hang his corpse outside palace's walls.
D) Descend to the dungeon and personally query the elf for answers.

You say you wish to negotiate on the terms and type of 'tribute'.

Queen Tomyra crosses her arms on her chest and stares at you with half-hearted interest.

A) Offer a hefty tribute every two years for next twenty years.
B) Offer the services of your Army against Damdamians in the south.
C) Offer her the ownership of Tven, your vassal kingdom in the north.
D) Offer a small tribute every year for next ten years.
E) Beg for mercy.
F) Challenge her to a duel to see if she is worthy of tribute in the first place!
G) Offer to marry your youngest brother Feodh to her, to bring your peoples together.
H) Offer all the riches currently in your Treasury and Sky Iron Knife for a generation-long peace between Khanate and Luathbas.

Exile (flat sprites) was mid 90's, its remake Avernum (isometric) was on verge of 2000s so they kinda too young to match.
