Forum Games and Roleplaying / Tribal Conquest 2.0 game has started!
« on: September 28, 2016, 03:48:28 pm »
Hello!

Harkening back to earlier days of Era of Diesel, I reworked Tribal Conquest into something new (and hella more easier to play and run): take control of a neolitic/bronze/iron age tribe and conquer your neighbours!

Technically speaking, the limit of Player Tribes is 12 (because 12 is the amount of color choices for Tribal banners); all leftover area will be taken by NPCs.

You decide to backtrack a little bit and scout the outskirts of the forest for a better way in.

This takes you most of the day, but you do find a path into the forest that bears marks of being traveled by animals. You manage to navigate a bit into the forest, and then you spend the night under a large tree.

(Supplies: 5)

When you wake up...

...you're trapped inside the tree! Thick yellow timber surrounds you and you can only see some light shining inside from the open top of the tree.

A) Climb the tree to get out through that hole!
B) Begin stabbing the tree with your sword!
C) Cry for help!

You won't be deterred by a single fall!

You climb the tree once again and...

...when you wake up, all hurting and bruised, it is already night. You camp in the forest, and despite the darkness and loneliness the night is somewhat comfortable.

(Supplies: 6)

In the morning, you ponder your choices once again.

A) Gotta climb that damned tree one time or the other!
B) Better backtrack and find some easier way in.
C) Let's cut a path through the plants instead.

You find a large enough tree and climb it!

You don't get that high before you lose your grip and slide down the tree. You bounce off some branches and then land on the ground, cushioned somewhat by the omnipresent moss.

A) Try again, we might succeed!
B) Let's cut a path through the plants instead.
C) Better backtrack and find some easier way in.

You cut through the hills.

By the end of the day, you reach the outskirts of the Dark Forest. You camp here for the night.

(Supplies: 7)

Next morning you enter the Dark Forest. After trudging between the tall trees and the thorny thickets, you decide to...

A) Find some less thorny and thickety path deeper into the forest.
B) Cut through the plants with your sword.
C) Climb the largest of nearby trees in hoping of finding an easier way through.

You declare that you shall go and make the Dryad happy again if that will make the Wizard go and defeat the Witch King!

Congratulations! Houlandin III has embarked on an Epic Quest!

One week later you leave the manor of the noble living closest to the dark forest, and he have provided you with some supplies. As you won't be crossing huge amount of land, unlike your father, you don't need much.

(Supplies: 8 )

You follow an old road that ends rather abruptly after an hour. You can follow a dirt path that circles the hills in front of you, or you can march straight through them.

A) Save time by cutting through the hills.
B) Follow the dirt path for a pleasant journey.

You ask him if there is something you could do in the way of payment. He strokes his beard thoughtfully.

"There is one Dryad living in the forests southwest from your Kingdom that is constantly unhappy and hides from the sun, making the forest dark, unpleasant and sometimes even murderous. If you can find her and make her happy again, I would consider that a good payment."

You decide to...

A) Accept and set forth to 'make the Dryad happy again'!
B) Refuse and offer something else (if you pick this option scroll up and pick some other payment type).

You demand that search for a Wizard begins.

855 AD, Mid-Spring

5oh what the heck

The guards report that a man in long, flowing robes and conical hat is waiting at the gates.

You tell them to let the Wizard in.

The Wizard arrives in your throne room. He is wielding a massive wooden cane of reddish complexion. His curly beard is part-white, part-golden, and his robes are of dark blue color.

"Greetings, noble King of this country. I have heard of your trouble and decided to lend my humble services to the cause of dealing with the Witch King. First of all, I must ask, how shall you pay for my work?"

A) Offer him the Dwarven Armor of Deflection, an item of immense magicks.
B) Tell him that you're ready to give him any riches he wants.
C) Ask him if there's anything you can do to pay for his services.

Suddenly, men and women began to leave the thicket in some numbers. They were all dressed in mismatched armor and sometimes just rags and clothes, but their weapons were sharp and ready.

"Heh! We're bandits, and you're dead meat! Kill'em all!"

~~Player Turn 1~~

Objectives:
Kill all enemies!
Info: there's no Boss unit for this map.

Enemies stats are here!

You agree to pay the heap of mountain that the Sorceress demands.

"Splendid! Nothing pleases me more than new riches to swim in!" She hops off her mount and raises her hands.

Suddenly you are wracked with convulsions and see darkness in front of your eyes! Other courtiers help you to maintain your seating position while the Sorceress begins her spell.

"Deuses da vida e da morte, escoite!

Escoitar a miña petición!"

You no longer see darkness but instead there are purple and pink and yellow swirls...

"I conceder ese saúde do home e longa vida,

e resistencia e forza!"

You feel like your intestines are turning into pretzels...

"E nin debe Señora da Enfermidade, nin o Deus da Morte, nin a Raíña do Destino,"

And now there's that god-awful hissing noise in your head, too...

"Pon-o de durmir antes de que sexa verdadeiramente o seu tempo!"

Suddenly all this pain and strange sights and noise disappear and you feel well again!

"Done. Where's the Treasury?" The guards lead and her grotesque entourage to the Treasury, and few hours later you learn that she left naught but some coins in few mostly empty chests.

You don't feel changed, to be honest, but maybe this spell will show its might in some other way.

854 AD, Winter

Your wife gives birth to a girl! She names her 'Eirena'.

The amount of money from your gold mines again is double of what was expected! This operation is truly a boon for the Kingdom.

854 AD, End of the Year

The advisor pops in with the Scrolls of Kingdom Status in his hands.

Happiness: 4
Population: 6
Economy: 3
Army: 4

"Thanks to the gold mines, our Treasury managed to balance the losses we suffered from the Sorceress and that failed tournament."

855 AD, Spring

A report comes from a city governor in the north-east. Apparently, packs of savage wolves are accosting the travelers and some peasants have succumbed to an explained desire to sleep.

You heard of this occuring in Luathbas once.

"I told your father but he did not listen!" Your mother laments when you tell her of this. "The Witch King would and is back to bring more torment to the people of Luathbas! Ethelwulf, you ought to send for a Wizard immediately."

A) Our father hired some adventurers and they got rid of him, right? So let's find some lvl 30+ dudes and have them do just that!
B) Start searching for a traveling Wizard.
C) Do nothing, maybe these are just coincidences...

One of the one-eyed giants sniffs the air and looks around while you ask the Sorceress to grant you immense health and endurance.

"Fine! An enchantment to grant you much health, sure." She taps her chin. "About the payment, hmm... Well, I want most of your Treasury!"

"Could you specify? I mean, with numbers." Asks the advisor. Xanetherna Ashqueen rolls her eyes and zaps a scroll onto his hands, and nudges him to read.

He does.

And he gasps as his eyes almost escape their pits.

"Sire, that is robbery! A worse one than with dwarves! It will leave us with less than one eight of our current wealth!"

"Oh please!" Interjects the Sorceress. "I value myself highly at least! Do we have a deal or not?"

A) Pay the mountain of money for the Sorceress.
B) Try to negotiate something less pricey.
C) Refuse and politely ask her to leave.
