You agree to welcome the girl as your son's wife when he reaches the age of 15. She will be kept at the palace so that she can be educated in customs of the country so that no one can say that barbarian woman is the King's wife (they probably will anyways).

850 AD, End of the Year

Happiness: 3
Population: 4
Economy: 4
Army: 5

This looks quite nice.

851 AD, Spring

You receive a letter with the seal that is reminiscent of your dead aunt's Eiri's emblem, but is slightly different.

It's from your cousin, Sela, writing in the name of her husband. She invites you to join her in a little alliance that might bring Luathbas, and of course, her little kingdom, an opportunity to grab fertile lands in 'your' north. She is willing to provide details only if you agree to put away the animosity between your and her family branches and work for common prosperity.

A) The petty kingdoms in the north aren't our concern. Reject the proposal.
B) Agree to the proposal and offer to learn the details of her plans.

Draw a map, it will solve lots of problems. And as far as the maps go, even one as simple as made by Solymr for Final Hour will do v:

You agree to invite the Dagovidians into Luathbas. After all, the more subjects, the better.

850 AD, Winter

After the rather unremarkable harvest and autumn pass, the Dagovidians finally arrive in Luathbas, and they are allowed to settle in the eastern region, which has many small rivers and forests, and thus should be perfect look-like for Dagovidian homeland.

Few days later, their chieftain, a tall man with blonde beard tied in twin tails, arrives with a blond girl in thick fur cloak. The man himself wears a cloak adorned with a two skulls as shoulderpads and a winged chain coif as his helmet.

"I am Agva, son of Dag, son of Ragmac. I am chieftain of the people of Dagovida, and I came to express my gratitude for letting us settle in your land, which is bountiful and fertile. I wish to give my most valuable possession, my daughter Igven, as your wife! She is thirteen and already can bear you many children!"

You explain that you're already married and the laws of your Kingdom do not allow for multiple wives at once.

"Then let her marry your eldest son! Please do not reject her, as I will feel that I made mistake by having her with my wife."

A) Politely decline the proposal, hoping that Agva won't feel offended that much.
B) Accept, this will reduce the amount of hassle when Arran legally becomes a man.
C) Excuse the chieftain and ask your wife about that sudden coughing fit of hers.

I might seize the opportunity to finally use Zachary :vc

You greenlight the tournament, why not.

It gathers many noblemen and nobleladies alike, with the former being able to joust and the latter to swoon at the jousters.

Many of the peasants were able to see the strength and pride of the Luathbas in the field, and the Army officers have noted an influx of youths to serve in the ranks under the proud and wealthy.

850 AD, Summer

Your grandmother, Ciri, dies in her sleep, aged 70.

Few days later, when you are having your beard trimmed to better fit the usual Luathbas standards for noblemen beards, a messenger arrives, bringing a letter from the northern nobleman, Count Vorst.

In the letter he writes that he have established a diplomatic relationship with certain Dagovid peoples, who thrive beyond the mountains in the north, and then eastwards, their land 'made of rivers full of fish and forests filled with game animals'. He explains that these people, with little knowledge in modern medicine, architecture or such, are suffering from flooding and infestation of trolls and therefore might be forced to migrate. He asks the Crown's permission to invite those brave (if a little bite savage) folk to Luathbas.

A) Agree with the proposal and have an envoy sent to the Dagovidian chieftain.
B) Disagree, as barbarians have no place in the advanced, enlightened, Luathbas society.

You sigh and decide to go with festivals.

850 AD, Spring

The advisor arrives to meet with you.

"My liege, some courtiers believe that it's time for the Crown to entertain not only the peasants but also the noblemen, and thus a grandiose knight tournament should be held."

A) "Hmm, yes, let's host one. Especially that soon knights will have naught to do but joust in tourneys, ha ha."
B) "No! The less we remind the people of traditional ways, the harder they will accept Damdamian-inspired army."

You have them taken to the Treasury, where they take the wealth they were promised. You put on the cuirass to see how it fits on you - it fits perfectly, and is suprisingly light.

849 AD, End of the Year

The advisor drops by and you can see the Scrolls of Kingdom Status once again:

Happiness: 2
Population: 3
Economy: 5
Army: 4

Once you are done perusing, the advisor looks at you.

A) "No, no festivals for the peasants this time."
B) "Yeah, I know. Let's get some festivals going."

You side with your wife and tell your mom off. She scoffs and leaves.

Later you learn she went on a trip to visit your sister again.

849 AD, Midwinter

Your wife gives birth to another child! This time, it is a girl, and she names her 'Igrid'.

849 AD, Late Winter

The dwarves arrive at your throne room, their leader holding a large package wrapped in old cloth. He then takes the cloth away, revealing a shiny cuirass that is decorated with bands and frills of many precious metals.

"It is the cuirass that you asked for. It is brass, but it shall protect you from blows as if made of steel. And the arrows, and darts and knives that would wish to travel the air and cause you harm will miss you instead of striking true. Now, it is time to pay us."

A) Have them taken to the Treasury so they can take the amount of wealth you agreed upon.
B) Have them taken to the Treasury... and ask the guards to get rid of them!

You agree to their price and dedicate one of the dungeon chambers for them. They bow and march out from the throne room.

849 AD, Winter

"...and I demand that you kick them out! Those are dwarves, my dear! Your father had more thought to sever any links to those earthdwelling deathbringers!" Your elven mother paces about the room as you listen. Your wife interrupts.

"You're no longer his regent, miss! He can do whatever he wants - he is the King. And dwarves make pretty things."

"Dwarves bring DEATH and CURSES! And sorrow!"

A) Agree with your wife and let the dwarves continue.
B) Side with your mother and get the dwarves kicked out.

You invite them to the throne room and in meanwhile ask the chamberlain where your mother is.

"She went to visit your sister Elsa and said that she would be staying at her manor for a few weeks, my liege, don't you remember?" Oh yeah!

The smelly, bearded creatures, clad in dark cloaks and robes enter the throne room and approach you.

Then they begin to stare at you, squinting their eyes, tilting their heads, sniffing the air at you, and whispering between each other in their language. After a while, their leader lifts his hand and silences his comrades.

"Greetings, King of Luathbas! We have heard that you be great warrior, but we also heard that those of your family have bad luck in personal combat. So here we came to craft you a cuirass that shall protect you from blows but also make the arrows and thrown objects miss you altogether. We will make it of steel, gold, and platinum and brass... if you be wanting it, then we welcome wealth, paid in front or later with certain increase." They then describe how much they want for their work, and the Advisor does some calculations.

"I think we can safely spend that much right now, my liege."

A) Agree for pay the dwarves now and lend them one of the dungeons to make it into a temporary workshop.
B) Attempt to negotiate a slightly lower price for their services.
C) Ask if you can postpone the payment for about twenty years or more?
D) Tell them that you've changed your mind and will not be buying their services.

You sign the papers and give full support for the officials to start with the re-organization.

849 AD, Midsummer

You receive a letter from one Xonak of Kiwi Empire, an official of Imperial Household, and now that the plague have left the Empire, they managed to gather and compile information on the succession line.

Your son Arran is currently ninth in the line for the throne of Kiwi Empire, having two uncles, an aunt, and six cousins above him.

849 AD, Autumn

Governors of the eastern regions have sent some good news; the wealth of the region and plenty of foodstuffs they gathered this year have begun to attract migrants from the neighbouring countries! In few years the population of Luathbas will surely increase.

849 AD, Mid-Autumn

The guards report that the dwarves have arrived! They wish to present you with their services; they have heard of your martial prowess yet also of how easily the Houlandines die in combat, and therefore offer to make you an enchanted cuirass.

"Someone as important as my husband surely should possess such a marvelous artifact!" Says your enthusiastic wife.

A) Order the guards to have the dwarves sent away.
B) Invite the dwarves to your throne room.
