You order to enlarge the Army with both sources!

845 AD, Spring

"Ethelwulf, dear." Queen Mother Aolineniya enters your room.

"You need another wife." She says, and before you can retort, she adds: "And I happen to have just found a perfect match. Turns out that Lady Asha, daughter of Lady Enna, who was your great-aunt and sister of Houlandin the First, has offered her last daughter, Raellia up for marriage! I actually met the girl and she is quite pretty and very well mannered for a fifteen years old. With this marriage you could potentially shut up several types of unhappy courtiers at once! Should I sent Lady Asha a letter in which you agree to marry her daughter?"

A) Eh sure, whatever, I don't care.
B) No, not yet.
C) Let's, mayhaps she can repair the wide gap that is still bleeding within my heart and soul.

You write a letter to the Parsian King in which you thank for the continuing treaty, and then you explain the slight problems that have arrived.

844 AD, Late Winter

Reports indicate that the festivals were welcomed by the populace!

Apparently, few mercenaries joined the Army.

Happiness: 6
Population: 8
Economy: 5
Army: 2

After you look through the scrolls, the advisor coughs.

"Shall it be drafts, mercenaries, or both?"

A) "Peasant drafts!"
B) "Mercenaries, let's try again!"
C) "Both!"
D) "Neither."

This is getting axed. It's just that it's harder to make it 'vaguely described' and with such simple mechanics; space empires need much more info and tabs to really work :I

You reassure the advisor that you will fine one some other day.

Reports come from the trade advisor that trade with Parsia didn't bear much revenues this year.

844 AD, Midwinter

A letter comes from governor of Augas. He writes that lately there have been slight drop in the numbers of caravans passing through the province and after some looking around for past year he have found out that Parsians are apparently putting higher taxes on foreign merchants that pass through his lands, plus there are some extra taxes on few rare goods (gemstones, steel) that arrive in Parsia via Augas. He wanted to write a letter to the Parsian King, but then decided to turn to you.

A) Advise the governor to sit tight and try not to forment trouble with Parsians.
B) Write a letter to Ahab Hahalol demanding his presence and explanations for this.
C) Write a polite and flattering letter to Parsian King in which you ask him about the issue.
D) Write a blunt letter to Parsian King in which you demand him to stop undermining the wealth of Augas.

You hire some adventurers. Their black-bearded axe-warrior promises that they will do the job.

They do it! After they managed to lure it into a trap, poisoned arrows and knives and lots of bashing killed the beast. The court applauds the wandering heroes and a hefty amount of gold is given to them. News course quickly and the mood amongst the populace goes up.

844 AD, Autumn

Your young wife gives birth to a boy! She names him 'Arran', and he will replace you as Houlandin IV when you die, unless he decides on some other regnal name.

One day later

Your wife is suffering from sickness of the womb and high fever, the healers say. They will use herbs and provide her with warmth and good food to help her.

Five days later

Your mother gently caresses your head as you hold the hand of your dead wife. She have perished from the complications of the child's birth, as many women do. The palace staff, under guidance of your grandmother Ciri, is already searching for a maiden that can breastfeed the boy in lieu of his mother.

844 AD, Mid-Autumn

The advisor meets with you in your bedroom.

"Sire, I know that you mourn the passing of your wife, yet I am afraid that one boy isn't much to ensure the continuation of your line. Therefore, I must ask bluntly - will you search for another wife to soothe your subjects worries?"

A) "No. Get out."
B) "Find me another if you want, I don't care."
C) "Later... after I can move on."

You order the Army to go to the forest and comb-search it.

The reports speak of terrible disaster; a beast was indeed met, a giant boar-wolf hybrid with silvery-blue skin, eight blaw legs and a mane; it had red eyes and powerful jaws and claws that it used to smash or rip apart the soldiers who barely managed to get few wounds on it. It also plowed through the ranks with its mighty tusks, sending men flying. After casualties began to mount rapidly, the commander in charge of this force ordered a retreat, and the beast ran back into the forest.

844 AD, Midsummer

After a brief respite, the dead livestock problem popped up. As the markings are the same, the peasants cry for help as the Beast is surely on a prowl again.

A) Send the army in again! They gotta be successful one time or another!
B) Hire some level 30+ (just in case) adventurers to deal with this beast.
C) Start searching for a wizard.
D) Do naught, maybe it will go away if it gets bored?

You decide to be generous this year with the Treasury's money.

844 AD, Summer

After uneventful springtime comes a decidedly bad start of Summer. People from the forested areas in the northwest report cattle and sheep deaths, caused by something with very large claws and jaws that were able to tear out whole chunks and bodyparts out! Nobody ever saw this happen in Luathbas. Some of the more paranoid peasants whisper of a demon or some other such entity trying to bring down the end of the world.

A) Order the Army to march out into those forests adn comb-search them.
B) Hire level 20+ adventurers so they find and vanquish the beast.
C) Do nothing, it mighty just be nothing more than an overgrown wolf (or a few of them).

You call for a council of the clergy representatives, during which you explain that there must be some co-existence between the two faiths.

Unfortunately you're not a very good talker. Some do look slightly convinced, but these do not speak - those against the monotheistic cult speak loudest and more often. In the end, you feel that you didn't accomplish much.

843 AD, End of the Year

The Advisor brings you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status early in the day.

"Sire, we have accumulated lots of wealth and some more. Unless anything bad happens, we could spend some of said wealth to throw some festivals to appease the peasants, or mayhaps even hire some mercenaries to replenish our army that have suffered so many losses during the civil war?"

A) Ayyy, we be rich, letsa do both!
B) Let's throw some festivals for my subjects!
C) Let's hire some mercenaries for my Army!
D) No, I need more riches! More of them!

Your order procurement of foodstuffs from abroad.

Despite slight problems with distribution and amount, the advisor is confident that it will be enough.

843 AD, Winter

The trade advisor brings you news while vibrating with excitement. Apparently, the gold mines, the trade with Parsia and Augas taxes on merchants have brought an amount of revenue previously unseen at once entering the Treasury.

843 AD, Midwinter

Apparently there was some bad religious incident in the west of your country and this time, it was the Pantheon priests who started it; they have caught some aristocratic youths reading a book of 'Words of the Father' near a Pantheon shrine and derided them; the youths, being youths, weren't interested in getting pushed around by clergymen and fisticuffs erupted with several wounded amongst the priests and the youths alike.

The governor who reported this is asking if the Crown is willing to do something about it, as he had all Damed books in public libraries put under lock and key so that they cannot be borrowed for now. He didn't put the priests nor the youths to justice, though.

A) Ban Damed literature from being read, and punish the youths for their imflammatory behavior.
B) Punish the youths for doing this (as in, reading these books so close to a shrine) obviously on purpose.
C) Call the Pantheon priests for a council during which you will explain that there is a need for co-existence.
D) Punish the Pantheon priests for causing disturbance.
